Would it matter who is saying what, if this information is actually good information ? I just want Newton to be on a level playing field and if the other team knows that out of certain formations all options are not open to Newtons playbook. You send two blitzers  and the offensive line is immediately outnumbered on what to block. Just back the backs off the line of scrimmage (same allignment just backed up into HB positions.) problem solved or am I wrong.

    What is HB positions?

Always a chance, that why they play the game and have a play-off system. I would bet that no more than 50% of the #1 teams in state as of today actually win state. Wierd things happen in the play-offs.Always a chance.

That's the truth. As they say. Just get there. Anything can happen.i'm the one who said a fourth place team had little chance of beating a district winner. Look what ND did to Newton. Dang sure closer than I ever thought it would be.

  3. I don't know anything about New Diana,  A team that finishes fourth in any district will not have much of a chance against a District winner. I know there is always an exception, but this ain't it. If Newton plays like they are capable, they won't have any competition until regionals.

  4. It looks like Nate is getting his passing game together which means Newton will be much harder to beat going forward. The running game has always been there, as has the strong defense. I don't do score predictions since it is so arbitrary anyway, but Newton will win this game going away, and start preparing for their next opponent.

By the way, I just finished the book  between the white lines by Dave Burchett. I highly recommend it. It's about a tough man and a great coach - W.T. Johnston.

You can probably pick up a copy from the Newton County Historical Commission 213 E Court st. Newton Texas 75966. Part of the profits go to the W.T. Johnston Scholarship Fund in Newton Texas.

After reading it I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at spending eleven years in that community, and a close friendship with Coach Barbay. I still have some dear friends there.

  5. This should be an exciting game. It looks like Hemphill figured out after the Newton game, that they had a football team. I leaned toward Corrigan, but after they got rolled over by Newton, I'm not so sure. If Hemphill plays Corrigan as tough as they did Newton, they will win easily. All told, I think Hemphill will be Daingerfields opponent in the first round of the playoffs, although I haven't figured any of the points spread. Too deep for me.

WOS will win this game but I'm still not too sure along with a lot of people on how good WOS really is. They battled with Newton and Silsbee but I really wish they would've played Jasper and Crosby to see where this WOS team is at.

I'm with you on that. I also want to know just how good Newton is in light of the fact Gilmer lost to Pleasant Grove fri. Just how good is Pleasant Grove which begs the question just how good is Newton.

We will probably not know until they  meet East Bernard, and I think they will.

How do you know the adjustments weren’t being made? Could possible be that the adjustments were being made but the players weren’t executing? I was standing down by the sidelines and I heard the coaches making the adjustments and then the players were on the field doing the same thing over again and could hear the coaches hollering “we just talked about this.” So I beg to differ the coaches were making adjustments on defense I personally saw it with my eyes. I also guess it was the coaches fault that they missed tons of tackles in second half when the back up QB you are talking about was in. They had the QB running all over the place they were getting plenty of pressure on him. Not sure what game you were watching though. Hey though guess what the other team practices too and they are going to make plays that’s what happens in football games. Two of the scores came on QB scrambles and the DBs just lost their man and they threw it down the field and scored. Notice I said scrambles because of the pressure on QB. The other score in 2nd half was multiple missed tackles on an athlete who was at QB who made a few plays and broke the long run for a TD. So before you start throwing shade at the coaches on adjustments you may want to go rewatch the game or pay better attention to the game.

My son told me that he had heard Legacy won their State championship last year. Any truth to that?

Do you know how Nate is? Heard he had a concussion.
