Saw HJ at their absolute best and absolute worst in the same game.  I came away from this game believing the two things I believed going into it: 1. Silsbee is the better team 2. If HJ puts a full game together against them they’re good enough to upset them if they meet again

Looking at this break down I wouldn’t be able to tell who won the game?? Sears did a masterful job of breaking the defense down and dishing the ball where it needed to go. He could penetrate the defense at will and did when he needed to. HF doesn’t have the go to guy that steps up and demands the basketball with the game on the line. #2 was the closest player I saw to anyone doing this. Everyone has a different opinion I guess but I personally would have put #5 on the block and pounded the basketball in to him. I don’t the kids name but #3 from HJ was the most impressive defender I saw last night. Early foul trouble on Brown kept him on the bench for extended periods of time and kept the game closer than it would have been otherwise.

Give me HJ, they have the best overall player on the court, more consistent 3 point shooting plus they are playing at home. HJ by 10. Saying that, I’m not predicting a blow out, I think it will be 4-6 point game the whole time until the end.

If you think HJ has the best overall player on the court then you must don't watch anyone else play or keep up with recruiting news. He's a solid player, not doubt, but not the best overall player. He'll be matched by Coleman tonight who's probably the best on the ball defender in the district and most athletic, and Coleman is not even the best player on HFs team. When they are firing on all cylinders, HF is impressive. It's just hard to determine which team will show up. Their best player always does, and will be particularly motivated for this game.
Of course I'll be rooting for HF, but either team can win this game by 2-4 pts.

How were people wrong? Not saying Nederland kid was better but him and Bush were 2a and 2b. Best overall player in SETX last year was Kasen Harrison from BU.

Taking nothing away from Ceaser he is a great player but greatest in EC history? Give me Tramaine Thomas all day if I’m starting a team with greatest EC players of all time.

Yates is in a perfect location to recruit.  They lose a lot of talent to private schools, but still they are in a good spot.  Lots of AAU activity in that area.  They got UH and TSU really close.  Rice is down the street.  So is St Thomas.
Yates had some so so years before hiring coach Wise.   Wise is the man for the plan.  He knows how to go out and pull players.  Maybe there is a star player from Arkansas.  Comes to town for AAU.  Sells his parents on being near good colleges.  Sells the kid on playing for a recognized powerhouse in basketball.  Bam, he has a recruit.   Same for African players from the continent.  Many of them value education as much as they like basketball.  Yates being near those colleges doesn't hurt.
Meanwhile HISD is fighting for its life.  If Yates goes down maybe the whole district caves in. So the district ADs favor Yates in basketball.  Booker T Wash. HS has. a nice engineering program.  I've spoken to the coach there a few times.  Nice guy.  But to be able to parlay the engineering magnet school deal into recruiting with Yates is hard to do.  I am not sure what is holding back Bellaire HS and Lamar HS.  All the elites in basketball go to nearby St Johns or Episcopal.  Those schools have good coaches in basketball, I guess, but none of them are on the level of coach Wise.

He was a monster and basketball is all about matchups and he would have been a matchup nightmare for those silsbee teams. They would of had to double him and that would have opened shots up for Hancock and other shooters kountze had.
