  1. Not for next week, but my favorite all time: Oregon State over USC headline: "Trojans Ripped By Nasty Beavers!" ;D
  2. Mosley was way more dynamic. He was faster, had really good hands (you could split him out wide), was very good at picking up the blitz, was shifty, and powerful. While Grogan has some of these traits as well he doesn't posses all of them.
  3. I think the muff had very little to do with the outcome. Even if we don't muff that kick, we come out in a tight/jumbo formation and try to run against 10 men in the box and get nowhere! Score might have been 34-21, that's about the only difference. Had to be alive before the muff to have been killed after it. ;D
  4. Again produce one post that stats that the officiating was the reason PNG lost. I think I read were both Nederland and PNG fans were confussed by some of the calls or how the penalties were accessed. Don't lump PNG fans into that excuses category. There are always reasons why one team won and another lost. Most PNG and Nederland fans are knowledgable enough in the game to recognize. I for one will stand by my thoughts that if PNG would have come out in the mutliple receiver sets and winged it a little from the get go, it would have been one exciting back and forth contest. I still think Nederland wins, but in a close high scoring battle. I just don't think the total athletes are different. I think if neuman and crew were coaching PNG, PNG wins!
  5. Produce one post that indicates that PNG lost due to officiating! I'll give you the out coached thing, but Nederland has had that advantage since Neuman came on board. ;D
  6. You are correct, but when you see it on replay you will see that it should have been a block in the back. Also on the kick return before the waved of penalty occured, the PNG receiver waved his hand in the air once (I think to signal he had it) then took off running. Should have been a penalty on PNG. Oh Well. They ain't right all the time! ;D
  7. Black and gold looks like something that I coughed up during a nasty sinus infection! ;D
  8. UNLV, you do realize that LU shut down it's program in the late 80's for lack of money and local interest? I think most of us LU fans and alumni want LU to play with the big dogs some day, but I don't want to be their whipping boys. I'd rather establish that we can fill the seats as designed and show a need for expansion, than have 12,000 show up and have 18,000 empty seats! That's just common sense to us backwoods country bumpkins. ;D Capacity Avg % Empty Seats La-monroe 30K 16K 54 14,000 La-tech 30K 18K 60 12,000 ULL 30K 16K 54 14,000 Southern Miss. 33K 27K 81 6,000 (no real competition for the entertainment dollar)
  9. "The fair catch bobble does nullify a fair catch from my understanding" Not true...If a fair catch signal is made the receiver can bounce the ball all over his body until he catches it and the defenders have to give him room. But once it hits the ground it's a live ball. "and the guy was blocked into the receiver on that play." It looked like such was the case, but if so why no flag on PNG for illegal block in the back?? I thought for the most part the crew did pretty good with the execption of that one brain fart they had. I doubt all 12,000 people have ever left MCM without at least one fan complaing about the officiating.
  10. That could be a good move on his part. LCM is very young and with the right direction could be dangerous in a couple of years. I think NDN nation really has it's heart set on Long becoming Burnett's sucessor some day. Not sure though that if it doesn't happen soon that it will ever happen because Long will be established elsewhere. It may end up being D. Long ;D.
  11. I don't know about being in a panic but PNG looks like they have a strong passing game. I think they should have gone to is sooner. That is not their tradition of student body right or left and ball control but I think they need to be passing more often. I think PNG has the people to pull it off. You are absolutely correct tvc. Should be spreading the field some early in games to allow for those wider running lanes. You cant over power teams in the playoffs. PNG's best team in the past 30 years (1999) spread teh field out and was very balanced and scored at will. This team has the talent to do the same with Tatum at QB and DeRon, Segura and Ceigelski at WR, two good TE's, a good line and two good backs! Drives us PNG fans insane that everyone sees it but the guy calling the shots. It will be interesting to see if Matt learned anything from this loss. Or if whatever his OC and QB coach where arguing with him about sank in??
  12. The play hapened on second down. 1. Nederland should not have declined the holding. That makes it loss of ten from the hold and repeat 2nd down. Then the 15 yard (or half the distance to the goal line) dead ball penalty (because it hapened way after the play on the way back to the huddle) should have been assesed. So it should have been 2nd down and 25+ yards to go. 2. Since Nederland declined the holding it should have been the result of the play (which was a run for first down). then the dead ball 15 yarder should have been marked off from the end of the run. And it should have been 1st and 10 from that spot...Granted Nederland would never have declined the holding to let this happen! 3. Instead the officials really botched this one and it took them 5 minutes to get it wrong! They said Nederland declined the holding and excepted the Dead Ball foul (see scenario 1). And they gave PNG the ball with a 3rd down and 20+ yards!!! They were obviously very confussed as where both coaches (actually PNG was irrate). But in the long run it wasn't the officiating that killed PNG it was Nederland's offense and our coaches refusal to realize they were in a shootout no mater how much he hated it until it was too late!
  13. u really think centrals corners can't hang with yall's receivers? I think what he is saying is that now with Grogan toting the pigskin, that you can stop the pass, but not the run or vise versa. I think everyone in Nederland knows that Central has the athletes to go toe to toe with their wideouts, but in order to do so you have to play more DB's and be less physical up front, which doesn't bode well against Nederlands OLine and Grogan. PNG did a very good job on Cardenas and Brady, but we couldn't get pressure on Bellows because of the new found running attack and he found some of his other options open.
  14. ???Didn't Vidor play Tuesday evening as well? :
  15. Maybe the cheerleaders. Only because they were facing the crowd ;D
  16. If you honestly believe that when Nederland wins, which has been more often than not since Burnett took over, that Nederland fans and friends don't do the same for 365 days then you are totally dillusional! The game wasn't even over with and some of my Nederland buddies were already sending vulgar text messages about how "PNG Sux" and this and that, but I realize as do most true fans of this rivalry that it is all in good fun. They really don't hate! This is why the game is played, for the kids and the fans to have fun and enjoy the bragging rights. Besides, I'd be willing to bet that last year when people were bustin' your chops about PNG winning, you were telling everyone that you were a PNG fan! ;D (Trust me, the Purple Pride wouldn't have you back. We hate stepping in Dog crap!)
  17. My understanding was that after last season Dodge fired his long time defensive coordinator that he brought from SLC, which I am sure was difficult, and hired someone with college experience. Looks like that ain't workin' out either!
  18. Again, North Texas has 35,000 students, a program that is not coming back from the dead, and is the public University of the Metroplex (a 5 million market) with 5 times the alumni and support that LU has. Lets make Cardinal stadium appealing to the local fans first and draw 18,000 per before we start expanding.
  19. If all my picks are correct after week three it will look like this: Nederland -------- 3 - 0 Central ---------- 2 - 1 PNG ------------- 2 - 1 Vidor ------------ 2 - 1 Lumberton ------ 2 - 1 Livingston ------- 1 - 2 Ozen ------------ 0 - 3 LCM ------------- 0 - 3 Thats five teams pushing hard for four spots. Fun stuff!
  20. Vidor Pie Rats go into the babe and hunt down some big game (Panthers) in a close battle. Vidor 21 Ozen 14
  21. The Bears comes out inspired against the Dogs and puts a rea......Oh wait sorry not the Chicago Bears, but the LCM Bears. No inspirational leaders! ;D Dogs 49 Bears 6
