  1. I haven't seen you guys play yet, but I know ya'll got some athletes over there this year that could play at LU. I had heard about Thomas. What's Frog doing now? Didn't he sign with A&M? What are he and BWilliams doing?
  2. What's that big LB over at Central's name and who is recruiting him? Is it Thomas? Maybe LU?
  3. No doubt the Barry Center is the Taj Mahal of HS football facilities. I think they got a few correct. Ratcliff in Odessa, Stadium Bowl in Tacoma Washington, Massillon's stadium in Ohio, and the Horse Shoe stadium in New Orleans were good picks, but some of the others???? I always liked Pennington Field in Bedford (FW area). A couple of those stadiums are college stadiums used by High Schools.
  4. You are correct. But the current Freshman and Sophomore groups were actually very good in middle school as well. The JV is undefeated and there are four or five Sophomores currently on Varsity. The 9th grade has done well, just not sure what the current record is. Given some direction (and imagination :) they could have a big impact in 4A the next few seasons. After that I am not too sure. The current middle school teams have not faired so well as of this year. Current Varsity group has quite a few Juniors in key positions doing quite well (Harmon-FB, DeRon-WR, Segura-WR) plus the defense is young. The peeWee group has a few....Just kidding ;D You never can tell until they play on Friday Night!
  5. Good natured ribbing at work about Friday night results is what makes this area so special when it comes to football support. PNG fans at my place of business are no different than Vidor fans or Nederland fans or Ozen fans. When they win they do the same to us and we laugh and defend our boys. But I have never seen a PNG fan taunting an eleven year old fan or any other fan of the opposing team as they left the Reservation. I know I have had many a good conversation as we walked to the car after the game with opposing fans and they always end with a well wishing to them on a safe trip home and successful rest of their season wether we won or lost. If I saw a PNG fan taunting after the game I would have to interject that we don't tolerate that.
  6. That's bogus. District Ranks: QB - 2 RB - 2 & 6 WR - 4, 6 & 10 The defense is young and porous. I get that, but some of the things that the coaching staff has done on offense and special teams is ridiculous. Why with the game on the line (down 2 with 5 minutes), do you send a kid to return a punt when the team is punting from the 35 going in. I asked a real coach from a well respected area program what should be done in that situation and he said you play your base defense and don't send anyone back. Said you play for the fake. Odds are they will either kick it into the end zone or inside the ten with no chance at a return because of the short coverage area. This guy didn't know what the outcome was either. PNG coaches sent a kid back there and he was begging them for direction. He was yelling what do I do?? And they didn't respond. The poor kid muffed the punt inside the ten. Vidor recovers. TD, Game over! Not his fault. Piss Poor Coaching. Never throwing on 1st down. Never went to three receiver set. Threw only on 3rd down and long 2nd downs. Threw 7 times all night. They have a Sophomore on Varsity that is 6-3 250 lbs and plays DT (which is the worst unit right now) and he never touches the field?? Why is he not on JV?? Why is he not actually playing on Varsity??
  7. Nederland will be able to throw against Livingston.Too many targets to stop. I know Livingston got two picks for scores against PNG, but PNG did manage to move the ball through the air against them. I agree. Those two corners are very good. PNG's mistake was trying to throw the quick five yard outs early in the game whe they knew what was coming. Those two CB's both were ready (well coached) and jumped the routes to the house, but once PNG went to the middle of the field they threw for over 250 yards. I don't see Nederland having trouble getting yards or even offense for that matter against Livingston. Nederlands problem could be lack of defense, but I think that they can outscore most in our district.
  8. Not Region III but I would take Lake Travis over Longview. But not by much. Friendswood looked pretty stout up until last week! Great QB. And those Lumberton Raiders would demolish them, but they will be DII? :
  9. Just curious, In your playoff scenario, You are assuming Lumberton looses to Nederland & PNG?? And furthermore you ASSume that PNG beats Ozen, Vidor, & Central?? You know what they say about assuming stuff. No I never ASSumed anything. I predicted as the title says. You Lumberton fans are so sensitive! Assume - to take to be true without proof. Predict - to foretell something; prophesy. Raiders will win the district and will never lose another game...Ever. Becasue their fans take it to be true without proof! : Get over yourselves. You had one very good season, not great, but very good and you get your panties in a wad if someone doesn't pick your beloved Raiders to win it all!
  10. ??????????????? Whos predicting anyones future? Read my post again. I said he could be a good FCS QB down the road. Didn't say at Lamar. I didn't "predict his future" based on him committing to LU, I base my info on what I have seen every game for three years now.
  11. I predict after Friday Night the district will look like this: Ned 4-0 Lum 3-1 Liv 3-1 PNG 2-2 Cen 2-2 Oz 1-3 Vid 1-3 LCM 0-4 And I predict a finish of: Ned 7-0 Cen 5-2 Lum 4-3 PNG 4-3 Liv 4-3 Oz 2-5 Vid 2-5 LCM 0-7 Since Liv has a +18 tie braker head start now on PNG and Lumberton is +18 on Liv, PNG has some work to do against Lumberton. Of course the only thing that I am certain about is LCM will not be in the playoffs!
  12. Good move for both of those young men and LU as a program to start out with as much local talent as possible. Where is Bevil at now? JUCO? Would be good to have a JUCO QB and a good mix of JUCO and 4 yr talent right away. With the right coaching Tatum could be an FCS starter in a couple of years, but he needs to be in an offense that doesn't rely on him to do any running! He definetly has the arm and accuracy.
  13. Either way I'm gonna take that Chance next year! ;D Thanks for the info!
  14. That's funny because the great AP voters of the state of Texas have the ranked #13 (in the State). Go figure. Again I think very little thought or research goes into these rankings.
  15. Gonna be awfully hard to do with Michaels in the back field! What a great QB Lineage!
  16. So since as you said "it's not that important to me" explain to us again why you started the thread ??? : Look facts are that when Lumberton beat Livingston, Livingston was 0-2 and had lost previously to a bad 3A. I don't recall anyone other than Lumberton actually seeing Livingston play up to that point, so most of us local HS football fans took what the Lumberton folks said about Livingston as solid information. Some of the posts from Lumberton fans imediately after Lumberton beat Livingston: raid07 Re: *Lumberton vs. Livingston Updates/6PM START/LISTEN TO GAME HERE* « Reply #19 on: September 30, 2008, 09:07:05 PM » Quote Mark my words, Livingston WILL NOT win a game in 20-4A this year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- raid07 Re: *Lumberton vs. Livingston Updates/6PM START/LISTEN TO GAME HERE* « Reply #34 on: September 30, 2008, 09:42:26 PM » Quote >Quote from: raid07 on September 30, 2008, 09:07:05 PM Mark my words, Livingston WILL NOT win a game in 20-4A this year. >Quote from: earlwick on September 30, 2008, 09:32:18 PM You are right they are terrible! I watched a half of it and had to leave it was ridiculous. Lumberton has a ways to go before they can get their hopes up. They will struggle to get into the playoffs this year from what I saw. >Quote from: BIGMO44 on September 30, 2008, 09:39:54 PM You obviously don't know a da thing about football!!! I think his assessment is fairly accurate. As a Raider fan myself, I caution you against thinking this victory was more than it was. Livingston is a bad team. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- iwonsee Re: *Lumberton vs. Livingston......LUMBERTON WINS 37-16* « Reply #55 on: October 01, 2008, 06:33:43 PM » Quote Just my thoughts!!!!!! Lumberton beat a weak team but hey we have to play them all just like everyone else in district! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And I found one guy that really seams to despise all things Lumberton "earlwick" that ragged on Lumberton for beating up on what he called a "bad" Livingston team. Other than that I couldn't find anything from any other non-LTrain fans! What do you guys in Lumberton want? You had a great year last year and we all sang your praises and congratulated you and many of us went out and supported you in the playoffs. If you think that from week 0 to week 10 we will be going to any Lumberton games to root for your home team rather than our home team your insane! Make the playoffs again and many of us in the area will come out in support again as we have done for years. That is what makes SETX unique from many other areas in the state. We support one another come week 11 and take great pride in SETX football and our community!
  17. TexasPrepInsider.com's Greater Houston Area Week 7 4A Top 20 Rankings 1) Dayton (4-1) 2) El Campo (5-0) 3) Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated (3-2) 4) Friendswood (3-1) 5) Houston Westbury (4-1) 6) Texas City (3-2) 7) Lumberton (4-1) 8.)Rosenberg Terry (2-2) 9) Nederland (3-1) 10) Huntsville (3-1) 11) Livingston (2-2) 12) Houston Davis (5-0) 13) La Marque (2-3) 14) Port Neches-Groves (3-2) 15) Crosby (2-3) 16) Bay City (2-3) 17) Pearland Dawson (3-1) 18) Beaumont Central (3-2) 19) Houston C.E. King (4-1) 20) Waller (2-4) I wonder how much thought really went into these rankings? How does a one loss Friendswood team that anialated a one loss Dayton team rank three spots below them? How about the fact that Lamar Consolidated with two losses is ranked two spots ahead of a Tx City team that beat them? And ranking anyone in district 20-4A currently ahead of Nederland is ridiculous. Say what you want Lumberton, but right now Nederland is leading this district. If Lumberton had beaten Vidor then I could see it. There is bound to be a couple of other Houston area 4A's that are more deserving than PNG and Crosby at this point in the season!
  18. Hooks, hands down. The numbers don't lie! To the guy that said Hooks was at a larger school in it's classification and had an advantage, then how do you downplay the fact that he has won and taken WOS to state titles at 5A and 4A before they dropped to 3A. In 2000 WOS was one of the smallest 4A in the state and lost to Ennis in the title game. That says alot about his ability to assemble great coaching staffs and get the most out of his talent. Also, look at Dan Ray's record against Neuman and Stewart recently! P.S. As an opposing fan, I hate Dan Ray Hooks, but I respect the heck out of him and would love to have him coaching my favorite team. ;D
  19. I'm Specially Upset that PNG lost to Livingston! ;D
  20. Are you one of the many Lumberton fans that promised last year that Lumberton would beat PNG? Howed that work out for ya? Outside of Nederland, I don't see any other 20-4A rep winning bi-district. Crosby, North Forest and Dayton are all better. PNG got lucky against Crosby and they were starting a Soph QB in his first ever varsity game. I think Nederland will win the district and maybe go undefeated in doing so. I think they will beat 19-4A (sans Dayton). Then they will lose to Friendswood. Nederland doesn't have the Defense to slow down FW and FW has the defense to slow down Nederland. Just one mans opinion! Don't forget you asked (see the title) ;D
  21. Exactly what I was saying earlier WOS92. Very competative locally, but not in the playoffs. I think this past Friday night showed that, with the favorite losing in 3 of the 4 games. 20-4A is actually probably in the lower half of the 32 districts in the state. Facts are facts. WOS played Ennis for the 4A state title in 2000, the year after PNG played Stephenville. Since then nothing!
  22. Actually you are incorrect. Most of the posts that said Livingston was horrible after the Lumberton game came from Lumberton fans. Go back and check.
  23. I predict that the team with the most points at the end of the evening will be crowned the winner of this contest Who the hell knows anymore?
