u really think centrals corners can't hang with yall's receivers? I think what he is saying is that now with Grogan toting the pigskin, that you can stop the pass, but not the run or vise versa. I think everyone in Nederland knows that Central has the athletes to go toe to toe with their wideouts, but in order to do so you have to play more DB's and be less physical up front, which doesn't bode well against Nederlands OLine and Grogan. PNG did a very good job on Cardenas and Brady, but we couldn't get pressure on Bellows because of the new found running attack and he found some of his other options open.

Central at Lumberton Predictions?

???Didn't Vidor play Tuesday evening as well? : -
If you honestly believe that when Nederland wins, which has been more often than not since Burnett took over, that Nederland fans and friends don't do the same for 365 days then you are totally dillusional! The game wasn't even over with and some of my Nederland buddies were already sending vulgar text messages about how "PNG Sux" and this and that, but I realize as do most true fans of this rivalry that it is all in good fun. They really don't hate! This is why the game is played, for the kids and the fans to have fun and enjoy the bragging rights. Besides, I'd be willing to bet that last year when people were bustin' your chops about PNG winning, you were telling everyone that you were a PNG fan! ;D (Trust me, the Purple Pride wouldn't have you back. We hate stepping in Dog crap!)

My understanding was that after last season Dodge fired his long time defensive coordinator that he brought from SLC, which I am sure was difficult, and hired someone with college experience. Looks like that ain't workin' out either!

Again, North Texas has 35,000 students, a program that is not coming back from the dead, and is the public University of the Metroplex (a 5 million market) with 5 times the alumni and support that LU has. Lets make Cardinal stadium appealing to the local fans first and draw 18,000 per before we start expanding.

If all my picks are correct after week three it will look like this: Nederland -------- 3 - 0 Central ---------- 2 - 1 PNG ------------- 2 - 1 Vidor ------------ 2 - 1 Lumberton ------ 2 - 1 Livingston ------- 1 - 2 Ozen ------------ 0 - 3 LCM ------------- 0 - 3 Thats five teams pushing hard for four spots. Fun stuff!

Livingston at PN-G Predictions? PN-G Playing At New Home!
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If we go to more two and three receiver sets to start the game, I think it will be a blow out. PNG 49 Liv 14 If we go with the same grind it out BS offense against 10 men in the box, it will be a closer game. PNG 21 Liv 7 -
You are right about that, but when coaches don't give your team the right tools to succeed (over and over again), shouldn't they be called on it. I have said for years that Neuman had the best staff in SETX because they adjust year in and year out, game in and game out. The playcalling is good and full of imagination and the kids are not held back. One question for you Dog fans: Is there anyone that was at the game last night sitting on the home side that watched PNG's offense in the first quarter and a half, that didn't know what was coming? Against 10 men in the box at that???????

*PN-G vs. Nederland Updates/NED WINS MID COUNTY MADNESS*
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Defensively, sure, but the offense looked good. Especially when they went to the two and three receiver sets and opened up the field. We should be in those setsfrom the word go. Spread oyut the field alittle and give the backs some more room to work in the secondary. Plus Tatum is the best QB we have had since Dustin left. He is deadly acurate, has a strong arm and progresses pretty well. He needs to be given the chance to lead this team and show what he can do for a shot at the next level!!! I feel bad for the players. Very athletic group is being held back. The deffense was expected to be a weak link this year. One returning starter! The problem is that in the past we had strong defenses and the coaching staff played to it. They ran the grind it out power football one receiver sets, threw 10-15 timeas a game (mostly on third down) and ran the clock, banking on the defense to keep the score down for low scoring victories. This team can't do that. The defense is not good enough. The offense has got to be unleashed early to get a big lead then try to run the clock late to preserve a lead. It's not rocket science. -
He picked up the blitz several times tonight. He should use some of the tape of him popin' our LB on blitz pickup tonight for his recruiting video. That and the threat he possed as a runner, was the biggest difference in Bellows having all night in the pocket to find the open receiver!

Yea, I thought little Gizzi did a great job most of the night on Asa, but Vidrine killed us.

No actually this game has been very predictable every year since Burnett took over. PNG wins once every four years with the same talent as Nederland. Go figure. Nederland is better gameday coached. Better playcalling. The coaches put them into position to win. PNG has the talent on offense this year to run the three receiver set and run a balanced offense. But our play calling sucks until we are down 20+. Tatum has a great arm, is very acurate and has some pretty good receivers to throw to (DeRon, Segura, Ceigelski), but he is being held back by the piss poor playcalling. This should have been a shootout. I still think Nederland wins if PNG comes out in the three receiver set to begin the game, but I think it would have been more like 41-35. Props to the Neuman and company once again. Puting Grogan at tailback changed the complexion of that offense ten fold! PNG had to respect the run this year and put no pressure on Bellows. Congrats Bulldog nation! p.s. Neuman is also smart enough to let good ole' Matt win one every now and then so he will stick around

PN-G’s Gaspard draws 'worst' spot for watching big game
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have to say I honestly can't stand reading a Haliburton article on PNG or Nederland. He is so over the top Nederland biased it makes me want to puke! Read the article on Huber..No mention of the tuff assignement he has coming up against PNG's DLine. Just talks about what the kid did against a week Ozen DLine. As a matter of fact there is really no mention at all of PNG in his article. But he writes about Gaspard and the article is all really about how great Grogan is and how great Nederlands ground game is!!!!Nederland this and Nederland that. : I don't mind if he writes articles on Nederland, because he knows the kids and the parents first hand, but he really needs to stay out of our locker room! We need some unbiased press! p.s. before you guys tell me to stop whining, I want to qalify this post by stating I am not alone and that even many of my Nederland friends agree he is Big Ned biased. He also said something a few years back (1998) to the PNG team when taking pictures for the newspaper before the playoffs that was totaly unprofessional. -
I caught your sarcasm eagle07 and that it was great. But your fellow eagle who started this thread posted something that got me boiling a bit...He said in the original post that BH was 0-3 and hadn't played anyone yet. They lost to PNG (now 3-0 all on the road including a win over Crosby as well) And they lost to Lumberton (now 3-0) Both those teams whipped 19-4a last year in bi-district and Lumberton went to the third round after beating Lamarque and PNG lost in a game that was closer than the score (26-7) indicated to eventual state champs Lamar Consolidated and little Superman!

What do we really know after 1st game?
badndn replied to Foyce's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would agree with this assesment! Come playoff time, I think two of the four will go second round and one may go three deep. Dayton will put a hurtin' on the district rep and Crosby will compete well against whoever they play from the district. -

Nice first post : -
2 things: 1. This is just some guy babbling like you or I do on these boards. 2. WAC would be a killer to any LU program. Though it might be nice for the high profile sports, what about the travel for the lower profile sports. New SWC 1. Rice 2. UNT 3. UTSA 4. Tx State 5. Lamar 6. LT 7. UL 8. UH 9. SMU 10. Tulsa 11. UTEP 12. TCU Sub in Ark State. Low travel costs and fan friendly for travel. Could get a FOX SW deal for both football and basketball.

*PN-G vs. LC-M.....PNG WINS 34-7*
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If you look back I posted " Ozen ran it (hear they are going back to basics), Central has run it recently". Vidor has lined up and attempted the spread in the recent past. I know last year they ran mostly. But my point was that the spread has lost it's luster! And now you are seeing more teams go back to the power running games. Hell even Lamarque scrapped the spread this year, of course it ain't workin' out too well for them now is it! Where is PATitan???? -
*PN-G vs. LC-M.....PNG WINS 34-7*
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Why, because they didn't score 50+??? That is Matt's MO. He doesn't like to run up the score. He never has. What else didn't impress you? The 24 yards allowed in the first half before the starters came out. The 0 first downs allowed at halftime (the 1 gained was not earned-penalty). The fact that PNG didn't throw the ball all over the place with the spread offense. Tatum was dead on target all night long and could have thrown for 300+ if unleashed. Don't forget that a couple of his incompletions were drops and one would have been a long TD on the post route. The spread offense is no longer a rarity. It used to be that a defense would be at a disadvantage when preparing for the spread because they only saw it once or maybe twice a year, but not anymore. Now everybody is running it and I think this is what is making PNG so successful right now with the power running attack. I think most teams preping for the running attack are just not used to it. So far PNG has faced three teams all running the spread. Nederland runs it, Vidor runs it, Ozen ran it (hear they are going back to basics), Central has run it recently. Lumberton and PNG pound it out and are succesful lately and Nederland was a playoff regular before they went to the spread (go figure). While I agree PNG needs to throw more and use more playaction, because come playoff time you have to be more two dimensional, I can't fault the results. A couple of years ago I thought Moody was going to be a good coach after watching what they did to PNG, but this guy is a real moron. Down 28-0, late in the 3rd quarter, 4th and 3 near PNG's 45 yard line, when every one in the stadium knew that they were going to run a fake punt, he did it anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you run the fake punt when you think you can catch the defense off gaurd. Why would you not just run a play???? They had actually moved the ball a little on that drive. LCM is young and with a new coach and better direction they could be a force in a couple of years. I was shocked that the big WR #80 was only a freshman.
