Are you talking about Ryan Donahoe from HJ, who led his team to a state title? -
Cardinals Recruiting Stud West-Coast JUCO Guard
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Since Roc got back on campus he has recruited & signed a handfull of hyped players and had success with most. A. Daniels was one of the best scorers ever at Lamar. T. Fairley was a double/double guy. L. Sanders was every bit as good as the hype. J. Davis was not a bust due to his play, but the attitude so the hype was legit. K. Dawkins is maybe the best guard we have had since the Tubbs era. J. Nabors is a SLC POY candidate (save for the injury). J. Brown has had his moments so far, but it looks like we will find out for sure this year with Nabors out! C. Todd did exactly what he was hyped up to do at LU, quality minutes as a 6th man. I think that the problem is that the hyped players are JUCO guys that are only here for a short period. While I love the players, I think the lack of signing high ranking HS "Studs" has been the biggest reason for the lack of an NCAA birth. Continuity over four years does stand for something at the low major level. -
LaZeek, Whats the word on Ryan Donahoe? Is he fully recovered? Will he resume his BB career? And if so where should we look to keep track of him (Navarro???)? If he can return and have a solid year at a JUCO, I would love to see him in a Cardinal uni! With one year of JUCO to get his feet under him, he could have three years at LU!

They tried that junk a few years ago against PNG (when they were having success with their normal formations) and it was horrible. Might have lost the game for them. I remember walking away laughing at Mathews, thinking what an he was for trying it when PNG couldn't stop Croak and company.

Nederland vs. Ozen Tue. Sept. 30 Predictions?
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What about Hemmings and Dugat and Hussey before Garrett? I think you are wrong on that front. Nederlands run defense is bad. Ozen 35 Ned 31 Back and forth nail biter with Ozen wining late. -
PN-G VS LC-M Tue. Sept 30th.. who wins/AT LC-M!
badndn replied to indian28's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
1. The UIL says no prayer at football games also, but we all think that is ridiculous. I think what LCM's anouncer does is fine. he doesn't single out any opposing players or jab at the opposition. the only think he really says is "That's good for another Bear" then the crowd "FIRST DOWN". Folks this shouldn't be much of an issue. I mean don't we play Cherokee when we get a first down. He wasn't a problem for PNG fans until a couple of years ago when Marvelous and President ripped us a new one. 2. I have to agree I was sort of down on Tatum before this year, but he has looked really good in the pocket as a Senior (when given the chance). If not for a miriad of drops the numbers would be way up. He has learned to put touch on the long ball. The OC just needs to mix it up earlier in games so Tatum can be more effective. They also need way more play action. ran it once against Crosby???? Watch the Cowboys who have a punishing running attack, they run play action 90% of the time. Just about every time Romo drops back to pass he is faking a hand off. Coach Long used it 50+% of the time as well with great success, especially the play action boot leg. -
PN-G VS LC-M Tue. Sept 30th.. who wins/AT LC-M!
badndn replied to indian28's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Whoever said that the home stadium anouncer couldn't be biased and enthusiastic about his team??? Go to an LU basketball game and listen to them say "3 POINT BASKET BY DEEEEEEEEEEE-HOP" when LU makes a basket then just "ryan bright" in a soft voice when the visiting team scores. That's called home field advantage. Just because they don't do it like our guy Tip does it, doesn't mean it's wrong. Let's not be the stuck up brats that everyone thinks we are. I hate playing at LC-M because the home stands are tiny and we usually drop a stinker at their place. But not this year. PNG 38 LCM 7 -
**POST POWER RESTORATION POSTS HERE**
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just because you got power, doesn't mean a good "Chunk" of MC got power. No power in Groves or most of PN. That's a good chunk! But after spending the day in BC helping clean out houses, I am very excited to go home this evening to my generator powered home. God bless all those folks in BC, HF, and Orange. Going to Labelle tomorrow to help. Pray for these people they have a long road ahead. -
That's pretty cool man!

With all of the Houston area schools affected as well, has anyone heard if they are considering extending the season one week giving the non-affected areas a week off to prep for first round games while SETX/Houston finish up???

*HURRICANE IKE AFTERMATH AND COMMENTS*
badndn replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They were the closest model for Rita! The only ones forcasting Rita into Galveston. All others had it down around Matagorda Bay. If you look at the Rita Models at 72 hours versus the Ike Models at 72 hours they are eerily similar. Lets hope they don't end up similar! -
After 2 Weeks Who Do You See In 20 4A Making The Top 4?
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I laugh at the people that say PNG squeeked by BH. Look at the stats. The score does not always show the entire story. A Win is a win in the end, but PNG dominated that game on both sides of the ball. BH had 200 total yards (of which 45+ came at the end when PNG went prevent) and PNG was over 350. BH scored both TD's on the next play after PNG fumbles (both times they had the ball inside their 20). That's part of the game, but it wasn't like BH was doing anything that PNG couldn't handle. I will admit that Crosby was a nail bitter and PNG really played poorly in the first half, but MB did what he does best with his defense and made some adjustments at the half and got that young QB of Crosby rattled. They also opened up the playbook on offense. I am not sold on PNG being a big threat in the playoffs, but I do see them getting one of the top spots in the District. 1. Central 2. PNG 3. Lumberton 4. Anybody's guess (Nederland and Ozen will at least be battle tested). -
What you guys are not taking into acount is that the evacuation of the middle Texas Coast will create quite a bit of traffic up into Houston and Waller/Bryan-College Station areas begining tonight and well into Thursday and Friday. I think that probably played a pretty big roll in the cancellation. Also remember Rita was forcast to hit Matagorda Bay at this same point (72 Hrs) in 2005 with the models actually looking almost identical to Ike. We all know how that turned out.

Who has the best Freshman and JV teams in the area?

You can't play in a JV game on Thursday night, then the Varsity game on Friday. Rules violation. What's Mike Long got goin on over at Kelly??? ;D -
Mid-County coaches follow Moody's lead; MCM cancelled
badndn replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That's good stuff. The irony in that is that in 2005 the week after Rita, without a local stadium to play in the two Mid County teams made the best of a horrible situation and played one of the great MCM games of all time over in Pasadena. Imagine that moody! -
Someone close to him told me today that he got in to UT and is gone to Austin.

This hurts big time! Who will step up? -
One thing that I have always had a problem with is that most of the top nationally ranked programs year in and year out are private schools. Most states allow the privates to play with the publics in the same playoffs thus they get to recruit the top talent to one team. Imagine if Kelly could play in the 5A State Playoffs against the likes of Katy and SLC. Most of the top area talent would flock to Kelly to get that edge. Then the public schools would be watered down. Look at the top teams from other states: St. X - Ohio (private) Concord DeLaSalle - Cali (private) Evangel Christian - Louisiana (private) Even Miami NW gets to pull from the entire district of over 100,000 students.

You are kidding right? Were you on campus in 2004? SHSU Pre Long: 4-7 2-9 SHSU Long: 11-3 One game from the National Championship (farthest ever) #3 National Ranking (highest ever) Most wins in school history Finished a close second for the IAA Heisman (Walter Payton Award) Broke just a bout every single game, single season and career passing record at SHSU. Attendance at Bowers was through the roof. SHSU Post Long: 3-7 6-5 7-4 And in 2001 McCown was just a notch below Long in his accolades and is in second in most of those records at SHSU. They did something! What a pompus jerk. Sure it would be nice to get a top notch QB for four years, but guess what, those guys don't want to go to SHSU or Lamar or any other FCS because they are getting offers to play on TV on Saturdays.

I think Tatums biggest problem has been the system and the lack of WR's. Johnson dropped a lot of balls last year ( a lot). And the fact that they only threw in obvious passing downs and ran the same stupid one step pump fake, three step pass deep play all the time really hurt him. He tends to over throw hi wide outs quite a bit, which I think is a product of having a big arm and no speed at wideout to go get it. He does throw a nice tight spiral and can chunk it deep with the best of 'em in the HS ranks. I think if Chaisson comes and Tatum would obviously RS his first year (no LU Footbal on 2009), he could be an asset in 2012 as a Junior after Chaisson. At the very least he could be a good backup.
