  1. So not one of the big schools in Mesquite?? Obviously there is a town called Poteet!
  2. I have to say that us PNG fans should be very carfeful in our predictions for next season. Way too many unknowns at this point. The only thing we know now is that the preparation for the oppossing defense will be much more difficult than in the past and this we like, but to assume right off the bat that it will result in big wins over quality teams like Nederland, Central or Lumberton (never thought I would use "Quality Team" and Lumberton together ;D) would be a mistake right now. We have many reasons to be optimistic with the changes made thus far, but lets not get too far ahead. If I missed it, when will Nederland play the Spring game?
  3. Barbers Hill won't have many athletes, but first game under new system at PNG could be shaky. Crosby will be very tuff next year. Junior to be QB D. Mercka is a future star and they return the big WR also. Tx City is an anigma? Not sure what they will bring to the Reservation other than a history of good running teams with stout defense?? No one in their right mind could predict PNG's record for next year right now, because of all of the missing variables (new coaches, new systems, new players, etc..).
  4. Dan should fit in well with what they do in Vidor. He will without a doubt help their running attack. Hated to see him go as an OLine coach, but I understood Faircloths need to replace him as an OC.
  5. Considering since 2000 - we have more SLC tournament appearances than any squad (tied with UTA), we would...not sure LU would notice, since they are not as "regular" as any other team in Texas... SLC Tournament appearances (Since 2000) 9 — SHSU, UTA 8 — UTSA 7 — SFA, McNeese, NW St., Texas St. 6 — SE La., Lamar 5 — UL-Monroe% 3 — Nicholls St. 2 — A&M-CC# % — Not a member of the SLC after 2005 # — SLC member since 2007 See that's the difference between LU fans and SH fans...You guys consider the SLC tourny the "Post Season", we consider the NCAA the "Post Season". Your OK with making the SLC tourny and bowing out early each year...We are not!!!
  6. Yeah I know all about the NCAA and their stupid graduation restrictions, but what we are talking about is actual basketball play. Wins and losses. Would you guys really notice if you were INELIGIBLE for the postseason? ;D
  7. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah...You forgot one thing...He losses in the big one! I love it when you point out that they graduate. That's great, but how many basketball fans attend graduation? When is not making the big dance no longer satisfying to you?
  8. It's Praise...Not Prays...Big, big, big difference...Thats twice now.
  9. I just don't see anyone on our current roster that can take over a game and dominate in the SLC! We all knew this year that KD (when healthy) could do this. AD could do this a few years back as well, but who next year?
  10. I don't think SHSU chokes each year, I think it has more to do with the parity of the conference. Coach Marlin can consistently get good recruits and put together a winning team, but he hasn't been able to take his teams to the next level. That's probably why he's still at SHSU and not moved on to better conference. Are we at LU happy with the fact that in the last ten years we have made one NCAA apperance? The answer is a resounding NO. Are the good folks in Huntsville happy with the fact that they have made one NCAA appearance in the last ten years? So at what point do you think a program decides that is not good enough and they look to go in a different direction at the top? LU is 7-5 in the SLC tourney in the last 10 years. SH is 8-8 in that same time span.
  11. TT, why does SH choke in the tourney each year?
  12. Good post. Great QB to me is a leader and a true QB that can make an impact at the next level as a QB. Long was after Ambres and was probably the last great one. Just not a lot of true QB's from the GT in recent years. Have had several great athletes playing the position, but not true QB's (BW from Central and several from WOS come to mind in that category). Chaisson was pretty close and Porterie from PAM I think was under utilized in HS. Until another great one comes along I don't think this area will see another GT (excluding teams north of Silsbee and west of EC) team playing for a State title.
  13. I have low expectations for next year. Just hope to finish in the top 8 with all the youth. The following year, when Miles and Harper are juniors and Coy, Moton and Williams are Seniors I look for a run at the title.
  14. You said he runs a 4.4. Do know how many people really run a 4.4. Very, Very, Very few. And if this kid was really that fast he would have shined some last year no matter how bad the coaching staff was. The combine prooves each year that unofficial 40's are about as realistic as a Bernie Madoff investment plan!
  15. This is going to turn out bad for Permian...How often does this really work? (Think PAM! or LU Basketball!)
  16. So does Bob West now have three votes in the USA Today poll? ;D
  17. Actually Nabors will be a third year guy as well and Custer and Mahoney will be fourth year guys (they all red shirted).
  18. Two emphatic words... PA and THETIC! I am really starting to loose faith in what ROC is trying to do. I lost faith in his ability to game coach along time ago!
  19. Probably the single most dissapointing season in my LU memory. I don't want to hear all of the excuses. For this team to not even make the conference tourny is a joke. ROC, whatever your doing it ain't working. I still don't understand what the offensive game plan is??
  20. Anyone from WOS named Franks gets my vote! ;D
  21. Did the wheels just fall off or what?
  22. If LU gets the 8 seed, we would face SFA (not good). Who does TSU play Saturday? If we win and they lose do we get the 7 seed? If so then we would play SHSU 1st. Does anyone know if KD is going to play in our first round tournament game this Saturday against Nicholls? ;D
  23. Actually Nederlands Athletics budget for 2008 was reported around 1.3 million. The PNG budget was reported around 700K. The recent additions to the budget still put us well below what Nederland is spending on Athletics. Which I think is one reason that the board has been so giving! Gotta spend money to make money. HS football is a business and Nederland has marketed well!
  24. Last time I checked cardinal Stadium (home of the Ozen Panthers) is actually in a Tank Farm!
  25. What I was pointing out was that you (as do most in PA) always want to point the finger at MC when something is said negative about PAM. Well this time it is your own PA folks throwin rocks at PAM and you, for some reason, point the finger at MC?? Why is that? I think Kenny will do fine at PAM, but he can't be buddies with the athletes and discipline them as well. I do agree with Lance's points about Kenny's resume. Not impressive enough to get another job in the state of Texas (1A-5A), but he got the PAM job! If you live in PA you do have to ask why that is? And PAM has become a Basketball school with Boutte as AD. No two ways about it!
