  1. IF (I said "IF", not "when") WO-S and Argyle both win championships, I wish there was a way they could play each other and settle it for all of 4A. Plus, we owe them one after they beat us for the baseball crown.
  2. It's not a rift. The coaches get along just fine. It's very simple. Matthews has declined for several seasons to play WO-S in a REAL game.
  3. I apologize to the PNG fans for getting off topic. I will reserve further bantering with Ned fans on this thread.
  4. Um...yeah, we weren't guilty of holding (and getting away with it) in most WO-S/Ned contests like Ned was.. We almost always had a fast front 7 that Ned lineman could not keep in front of them, so holding was their only option. Don't give me the "every team holds" when it's obvious Ned has benefitted from no-calls on these plays. Beyond that, you have no idea the personal vendettas against Hooks and WO-S in general that some of those Mid-County refs from the Bmt Chapter brought with them onto the field and your team was the beneficiary. For those who were close to the action and were familiar with these relationships, they know exactly what I mean. Oh, the stories that could be told about this...but, nah, all that matters is "Hooks works the refs." SMH. Ignorance is bliss.
  5. LOL!!! You Ned guys CONTINUE to act like Hooks paid off refs or something. The refs despised Hooks, so how does that benefit him on officiating? FYI - the majority of his ranting on the sidelines was from the lack of not flagging for holding. You Nederland guys are so blind to the Mid-county refs who have helped you in so many games against WO-S. You've gotten away with plenty of holding calls. In many of those games, holding was NEVER called...not ONE time...against Ned. But all you see is Hooks making noise. The blindness is amazing.
  6. I'm glad you're giving me permission to believe what I saw and to understand the rule of the game. I feel much better. On the lateral pass...Neumann told the refs before the game that they were going to run that play and to be watching for it. They did...and they got that one right. It was close...just like the miracle in Nashville where the Tennessee Titans used the lateral against the Buffalo Bills. But it was a legit lateral. Even if they gave you an incomplete pass call, Nederland was not going to score again in that game by the way WO-S' defense was playing.
  7. When your elbow, knee, butt, or the ball itself touches the ground, you are down by rule. He did not cross the end zone before being down. He flopped into it and the ref was incompetent to make the correct call. Yeah...we actually felt confident he would make it from 46, but he didn't connect well enough on the kick. Lindsey had a good game, but that was definitely not one of our best offensive teams. The progression of the season proved that. It was an up and down struggle at QB more than anything else. About the coaching situation...there were some who wanted Foreman to be named HC before Thompson got the job, but they were in the minority of numbers. The majority of people who post here and the majority of those in the WO-S district wanted Cornel to get the job from day one. Losing this game to Nederland did not change our opinion one bit. You have to understand that Cornel has a long and deep-rooted history in Orange. He has thousands of friends, former players, and people in the community who adore him and hold him in high respect for who he is as a PERSON, as well as a coach. The same appreciation is held for his wife, too. So, to your point, there was no outcry of the masses about him being coach. Only a loud small number of people.
  8. Waco LaVega looked a little out of sync (sloppy, actually) at several moments of that game against Argyle last year. They were the faster and more big-play capable team, but Argyle deserved plenty of respect. They looked good enough to beat most top tier teams in 4A D1 & D2 in my opinion. It was no fluke they were in the championship game.
  9. Yep. He caught the ball on his butt and by rule should have been down at the one yard line, but he leaned backward into the end zone and ref called the PAT good. Smh. Also of note...on WO-S' final drive, they attemped something close to a 60 yard FG. We had a defensive lineman who had proven to boot it deep on kickoffs. He had also made some seriously long FGs in practice, so it was worth a shot. But, it was no good. That game was the first for Cornel Thompson as head coach. He has settled into the job nicely since then.
  10. Coach Matthews always treats the WO-S scrimmage like a real game. It's too bad he continues to decline the opportunity to play WO-S in a real game.
  11. Freshman 5:00...JV 6:00...varsity 7:00. The varsity game will be played like a real game with the exception of returning punts and kickoffs.
  12. Dude...don't wish that on WO-S. It would be interesting to see a short controlled scrimmage against teams like that, but don't fool yourself. WO-S has no business playing teams with that many players in a real game.
  13. Well, actually, I looked at it wrong. I thought you said Silsbee 84 WOS 14. My mistake. Nevermind.
  14. That kind of score prediction and sarcasm does not blend well with the Tiger stripes. Thanks for the bulletin board material.
  15. WO-S fans enjoy the Silsbee matchup. Always have. Heck, go watch the VYPE preview of WO-S. Even the players talk about it.
  16. Exactly. No one is happy about that game. We were left with either playing them or have two open dates. No other options were available. Several quality opponents were communicated with, but they all either did not have the same open/available dates or, in several other cases, they just flat out declined to play. It's frustrating, but we go through this every two years when the schedules are made.
  17. Put some of your wager money on a Rosetta Stone English language curriculum. Dude, seriously...make the effort to spell words correctly. Do you want to communicate here with adults or would you rather chase Pokemon?
  18. You'll have to convince Coach Matthews to put WO-S on the schedule. Both coaches have to agree to play. For years, he has declined to play WO-S in a real game. Only a scrimmage will do. It's ridiculous that WO-S has teams right here in the back yard of the Golden Triangle, but has to look all over the state to find opponents because a few schools in the area refuse to schedule us (of course, that does not apply to the Nederlands and PNGs of the world who will play us). I hate that we have to play KIPP Northeast Academy when we could be playing a local team like Vidor. Meanwhile, Vidor in recent years has made the effort to play a team from Florida? Makes no sense.
  19. Tyler looks terrific. He never stops moving forward and has good lateral movement. Excellent RB. Silsbee got a good one.
  20. The Carthage win over WO-S a few years ago was not a beat down (28-14). The WO-S defense played well against that vaunted Carthage offense, but the Mustangs committed six turnovers. That was the story of the game. Coach Surrat said WO-S was the hardest hitting team he had ever played. As for the comparison between D1 and D2...after watching LaVega (last year's D1 champion who destroyed Carthage 39-3), it would have been a good matchup, but one WO-S could win. Coach Thompson tried to get LaVega on the pre-season schedule this season. Coach Williams at LaVega was interested, but the open dates and available dates were not compatible. We will be playing one of D1's better teams Sept. 10 - Kennedale.
  21. Can one of the admins move this out of the baseball forum, please?
  22. TD, Jack has made WO-S alums everywhere extremely proud. Job well done on raising a terrific young man.
  23. Grad, No. It is most likely now that week 5 will remain unscheduled giving us two open dates. The options have been exhausted. After trying to fill the schedule with teams in the Golden Triange, nearby communities, and Houston, we tried to get games from teams in San Antonio, the Dallas area, west Texas, and even checked with Louisiana schools. There were a few schools who were interested in playing us (Lumberton was one), but they were committed on game days when we were open. Funny thing is...we had a discussion about this topic on another thread back during the football season. I made the point that WO-S has always had trouble scheduling opponents. Some posters here didn't believe me when I spoke that. It's not something to brag about. It's just a fact. Even Richmond-Foster's coach (and they beat us handily) didn't want to play because our brand of football is too physical. I didn't say that. Those were HIS words. Now it has come to this. An unwanted open date and one opponent from far away east Texas. When you consider the sheer number of schools on the map, it's crazy that we can't fill six slots.
