Man I love the playoffs!!  I just realized that Newton hasn't lost a district game since being in 2A and has only been beaten by two 2A teams, Boyd and Marlin.  I always hear the sports casters on channel 6 talk about how WOS has never lost a district game since dropping down but never hear a word about Newton doing the same...hmmmmm.  MEDIA BIAS!!!  j\k  ;D  Anyway, looking for an exciting game Thursday night and hope everyone has a safe trip there and back.

What's funny is that Barbay is TIGHT with money and there are more than a couple of middle school players wearing purple football pants with PNG on them.  Newton has also been known to borrow shoes from WOS so that we could play on turf.  Of course we now have shoes but it took a while to get them.  We're poor but rich in tradition. ;D

Been waiting for that! I knew yall (Newton posters/EC haters) just couldn't possibly resist! Well at least Mart is not Marlin.... ouch, ouch, ouch!!!  ;D

I'm not an EC hater, matter of fact I kinda like them, sometimes. I would LOVE for you guys to give Mart one in the L column.

Hemphill

EC

Hemphill will give Hardin all they want and then some.  Hemphill is a ball control team and they are good at it.  I don't see Hardin being able to stop the run and their only chance is to hope that Hemphill can't stop them.  Game is in Hemphill......hmmmm.......Hemphill by 14

The edge goes to EC but CC won't be a push over and it wouldn't shock me to see them upset EC.  CC is a well coached, physical team that likes to run the ball but can pass with success if needed.  Just remember that the winner of this game gets Mart in round 2....ouch.

The "searching " phase of the rut is my favorite time to hunt because you just never know what will walk by and you better be ready to shoot because he might not come back until next year.  Once they start tending does it gets a little tougher because they tend to stay in the thick stuff but its still better than post rut.  The big bucks still aren't running does yet so this weekend should still be good.

I doubt there are any wolves in east Texas, there are some big coyotes though that might pass as a small wolf.  I've heard wolves in Wyoming and there is no mistaking a wolf howl when you hear one, they don't yap and the howl is long and much deeper than a coyote.  Hope they keep them up north.

You were pretty close, we taped him at 152 BC.

We had three bucks killed on our lease in Newton over the weekend.  Overall it was a little slow but the bucks are cruising looking for does and you just never know whe muy will walk by.  There were three bucks killed opening weekend: 138 BC 9 pt., 136 BC 10 pt. and my lucky a$$ brother -in-law killed the 12 pt that I posted a picture of on here, scoring 150+ BC, he was a monster weighing about 200 lbs.  Funny thing is that he killed him a mile and a half from where we got his picture.  All I saw were a bunch of nannies. 

EC is in a MUST win situation and Hardin isn't.  EC also has the big game experience.

I agree.  Newton starting to peak at the right time and things are starting to fall into place.  I look for Hemphill to beat Woodville, that would send us to Div 1, and draw Buna in rd 1.

I don't know.  Not sure if Woodville will make it or not, they have been very inconsistant lately.  If it finishes the way you predicted I see Buna, EC and Newton going on to round 2.  23-2a is weaker than I thought it would be at the first of the season.  Corrigan has really disappointed me this year.

Who really cares if EC is a one man team...good for them.  Newton made 2 state appearances and has a state title with a one man show, Toddrick Pendland.  In small school football it happens and one great player can make a team.  Would Newton have won state without Pendland, doubt they would have even been close.  One man show or not, EC is 8-0 and Buna has one in the L column. 

I agree.  Newton should win this by 30 but i think 14 is a more accurate prediction.

Buna has to win one their last two games (Deweyville, Warren) and if Woodville can beat Newton or Hemphill Buna will play woodville. If woodville loses both then Buna will play Newton, Again.

IF Buna gets past the first round they will then get Marlin or Teague and the winner of that game gets Tatum.  Div 1 in region 3 is a beast.  Buna's best chance to go past the first round is if Woodville makes the playoffs (I know I'm a homer) and they don't get Newton in first round.  EC shouldn't have any problems with Corrigan or Hemphill \ San Augustine and will survive until they meet Mart.  Don't think Hardin will make it past round one.  JMO

Woodville always plays some of their best games against Newton and this will be no exception.  Newton turnovers and penalties will keep the game closer than expected.
