  1. The game will be in Newton and won't be changed.
  2. Newton's usually strong D seems to struggle at times this year. I think this will be a very exciting, high scoring game. Kirbyville can't stop Newton and it's looking like Newton won't be able to stop Kirbyville, should be interesting.
  3. Royal is a very undiciplined team....and how bout their band!!!!
  4. You can bet your last dollar that the ones crying about what he said aren't the coaches from the opposing schools. They know the man and know that he puts the kids FIRST, Newton or otherwise. I have heard it from his own mouth that he could have hung 60+ on another school but didn't do it because he didn't want to embarrass the other kids, coaches or fans.
  5. If I'm not mistaken, too lazy to look it up, there numbers put them close to 4a. I too wonder why they are so terrible year in and year out.
  6. Crockett SHOULD be a good test for Kirbyville, they will be able to match them athlete for athlete. I look for it to be a close game with Crockett getting the W by 1 late in the 4th.
  7. Hooks must have really been in a bind and needing a game to play Brookshire Royal. The best thing about B.R. is their band, way toooo funny. WOS by 50+
  8. Nothing better eating than a fat axis doe......YUMMMY!

  10. I'll have my BugTamer jacket on waiting for the big one. Acorns are really starting to fall now and temps up here are supposed to be in the mid to upper 50's. Good luck and post pics of any good ones.
  11. I understand that some land owners got letters from TP&W informing them that black bears are or were going to be released and not to mistake them for wild hogs while hunting. Killing one would bring a big fine. Don't know how true this all is but it would not surprise me if it were true. Maybe the bears could help control the hog population...
  12. Brookshire Royal is talented but VERY undiciplined. Newton did play them several years ago and beat them pretty good, when they are behind they fall apart. Should be a donkey stomp for WOS.
  13. Newton is a mad house right now, traffic backed up and long lines at the gas pumps. If you are coming from Orange MAKE SURE you have enough gas to get you closer to Lufkin because the pumps here will dry up fast. Several of the stations were out of gas just from Gustav. No plans as of yet to evacuate this area but I don't think it will be very long before it happens. Good luck everyone..........
  14. I don't see a lot of points scored in this game, Corrigan's offense is designed for ball control and smash it down your throat. CC 21 Coldspring 7
  15. This is going to be a really good test for the Eagles this week. Hopefully Newton will continue to imrove and come out on top. Newton by 1
  16. Kirbyville's defense will be their downfall this year, it will deny them a win against WOS as well as the state title. IF this game gets played: WOS 42 Kirbyville 14
  17. LOL...I know, just stirring the pot a little. How is Deweyville shaping up and do they have a chance to make the playoffs this year. Would LOVE to see them run the table on the other blow-hards.. ;D
  18. Kountze takes district with Anahuac and EC filling the other 2 spots. IMO 23-AA is shaping up to be a rather weak district, swept in the first round. ;D
  19. Last night I saw a MUCH improved Newton team and an EC team that just wouldn't give up no matter what the score was. Hats off to the players at EC because they showed heart to the very end. I honestly didn't know which Newton team would show up for this game. Corrigan has a very good team this year but Newton handed the game to them on a silver platter. Newton's performance against Corrigan was probably THE worst performance I have ever witnessed from a Newton team. The OL and DL looked like JV players, not the typical physical Newton teams of the past. Against EC we looked like the same ol Newton, glad to see it too. I think we will be alright this year, usually don't start clicking till about week 3, but only time will tell.
  20. I also think this will be a high scoring game decided by who makes the fewest turnovers. Both teams look pretty even to me but i'll say Kirbyville by 1.
  21. Looking forward to watching two quality programs go head to head Friday night, both teams will be better because of it.
  22. What you fail to realize, CC is a powerhouse football team as well. These boys have tradition and a couple of state titles to brag about. Last year they were begining to get tough like they have always been. Kirbyville beat them 48-0 in 2005, but they were way down and now they're up. I guess I put to much stock into Barbay's article where it seemed he was saying CC really didn't want to play him which makes the general reader believe that Barbay is going to strap one on CC. Obviously, CC can play football... If Barbay would have really thought that he could just walk all over CC then he wouldn't have played them. Nothing to gain by playing crappy teams. If my memory serves me correctly, didn't CC knock a couple of pretty good teams out of the the playoffs last year? I will say that if Newton doesn't play any better this week it will be a donkey stomp, and not in Newtons favor. Newton by 1.
