1. hey sky, wouldn't you like to see DBU heefner come to lamar and be the Head coach, I know you love G but come on man the program is on a stand still and isn't getting any better, and Lamar program isn't even in the top 4 best programs right now in the southland its a shame....
2. If you can't make the conference tournament I agree you should not make the NCAA Tourney.  As far as A&M goes they went 0-2 against Rice and lost 2-of-3 to Texas. if they would have done better against Rice and Texas then maybe A&M would have gotten a national seed.  The aggies had their chances and could not get the wins they needed.
3. He was at Hardin for 3 yrs as the Assistant Boys varsity coach, and then became the Head Girls Coach this yr at deweyville, I know he played in High School at Lumberton and was a pretty good player and was on the playoff team when Lumberton made it for the first time in school history, and he also played college baseball. I think if Lumberton wants to really bring in a coach to get the program back on track then he's the no brainer hire just my opinion but I think other people feel the same.
4. Josh Mitchell, hometown boy from lumberton and did very well this yr at deweyville and brought a different attitude to the girls basketball program this yr!!
5. The teaching position is science, Lumberton most not want a girls basketball coach that bad, if they did the teaching field would be (Open), and to be honest its a no brainer who they should hire but seems to me that they are going to go hire someone thats already on the coaching staff, why would charlie wilson come back?? he left Lumberton because all his studs graduated, he was trying to find a way out of lumberton, and Jacks he's been to 6 schools in like 7 yrs, Lumberton needs a coach that will be there for the long haul to build a program from top to bottom, not a coach that is about to retire or that always jumps from one school to another.
6. WO-S Sam Moore-La Tech Tony Dallas- Drafted MLB Detroit Tigers Cory Sellers Texas Tech Chris Knowles-Blinn JC MLB Seattle Mariners Chad Southard-Texas State Robbie Bittinger- Panola JC Shane Brister- Galveston JC Terry Green-Blinn JC And there is plenty more from WO-S this is just off the top of my head.  I know Both Marcus and Michael Thompson Played college ball but can't remember where. David Fregia, Slade Green, Ronnie Teaff, Wayne Stegall, Doug Frederick all played College ball and I know that Roderick's Brother Harlan was drafted by the Royals if i am not mistaken. The list from WO-S is pretty long. Great Tradition.
7. Cornell should get it hands down.  It's a monumental mistake if they don't give it to him and it could change the course of that athletic program for good.
8. Congrats to Cards and Coach Landry.  Coach Landry does a fine job and people need to get off his back. he has been successful everywhere he has been and definitely knows tha game. Just because the opposing pitcher throws a great game against you doesn't mean you got out coached.  And just because your pitcher throws a great game for you doesn't necessairly mean you out coached someone. Give the kid the credit!!!
9. While getting Ford would have been a nice addition for Lamar.  I do not think it is as big of a let down as some are making it out to be. The Enterprise said Lamar is still searching for a break away runner?  Well obviously they have not seen Depauldrick Garrett Play. I promise you this, the first time Garrett plays next year for Lamar he will make everyone totally forget about Ford.  Garrett is a tremendous back with great hands and 4.5 speed.  I have seen both Garrett and Ford play up close and personal and Garrett is definitely the better back.  The only down side to Depauldrick is Lamar only has him for 2 seasons. I so wish the Enterprise would hire some sports writers who have a clue, because it's articles like the one in today's paper that make them look like complete morons.
10.     Espn; Jon Anik on Brock Lesnar Coaching  I'll address the coaching part of it first. Wrestling is the best base for MMA, in my opinion. And I think learning that discipline from Brock Lesnar will be a great experience for the young welterweights. I think Lesnar will actually embrace it, now that he has agreed to do it. He also has a team that will help bridge the gaps in the other areas of MMA. Lesnar and his team's ability to coach these guys well is the least of my concerns.
11. Great Man and Great Coach, Our thoughts and Prayers are with his family. Rest In Peace Coach Dean.
12. Glad to see you only support "SOME" of the Pirates. If you really paid attention, you would see that those kids are out there busting their tails every friday night and it is not just some, it is the entire team. And I guess the WELL COACHED in all caps is a shot at the coaches. Happen to think Deweyville has a good coaching staff who works hard.
13. What a great Kid, It's good to see him get some pub.
14. Bald Guy from Deweyville?? Didn't know Deweyville had a bald baseball coach.
15. Texas swept A&M in conference last year and then beat them in the Big 12 tournament. So Texas was 4-0 against the Aggies last season. And the Longhorns also won the Big12 Tournament title. I see Texas winning the conference. With Ruffin, Wood and Workman all back and all off to great starts on the mound, Texas will be tough to beat. Brandon Belt, David Hernandez and Cameron Rupp are all back as well and off to good starts at the plate. A&M has some good pitching, but I don't see them winning the conference. Texas also has 2 of the 3 conference games against A&M at the Disch!!
16. Anyone who thinks this is a good thing needs to have their sanity checked. Some of the travel time for some schools like Central, Orangefield, Deweyville, WB and PAM and Hamshire-Fannett is down right dumb. Travel time alone is going to be the biggest issue, you will have hardly have any fans at away games, especially for sports like baseball and basketball which play on Tuesday nights. Football will be hit hard also, I mean what parent who works shift work or gets off at 6 is going to travel 2 hours for a 7:30 game, they won't get to the game until half-time, maybe a little earlier. Wednesday mornings after a long road trip is bound to breed low attendance for kids. Which will hurt the kids grades and performance in class which may cause failures to go up. Having these types of road trips on a weekly basis may also affect Test scores down the road, I mean you are almost guaranteed one day a week where it will be almost impossible for a kid to pay attention in class due to exhaustion. Teachers already have a hard enough job and high enough expectations on them as it is. Also looking at this from a coaches point of view the UIL is not taking into consideration a coach working a 12-15 day and the coach also being a zombie the next day like the kids. All coaches teach as well. Especially for coaches who are at schools where they have to drive a bus, that would be a big time safety hazard, which is to no fault of the coach they are just doing their job. Next, you have the parents. How do you expect their to be any kind of following from the parents to come see their kids play 2 hours away and then get up the next day to go to work. Talk about robbing parents of the joy of watching their kids games. Then how about the regular fan who has no kids but enjoys games or families who have kids in school but they don't play sports, well you can forget them going to support their teams which will have kids showing up to a stadium with virtually no support.
17. I love watching Berkman, I believe he is vastly under appreciated as a hitter. David Wright can flat out swing it and Mauer and Morneau in Minnesota are just like Berkman and very under appreciated. Love watching Josh Hamilton. Mauer is the best catcher in the Game. David Ortiz is a joy to watch as well. As far as Manny goes, I appreciate his talent, he is a great hitter, but anyone who tanks it on purpose looses all my respect. I don't see how anyone could sign him, he paid the ultimate disrespect to the game when he choose not to hustle and choose to loaf. I have nothing for him. Manny is a disgrace.
18. It is very disappointing to hear of this. I have a very high regard for Coach Garrido. Hopefully he will be able to recover from this and use it as a tool to help teach his players. I do hope he is able to coach again, I enjoy watching his teams. Thank god no one was hurt. Great statement by Gabe, you are so right.
19. I don't know if many people realize that the Pirates had 5 defensive starters injured for a better part of the second half. Every kid stepped up and played with great heart and the coaching staff did a tremendous job of making adjustments and moving other personell around to fill in for the injuries. Great win. Getting pretty tired of hearing people slam the "stupid 50 defense" and the Pirate offense. All of these coaches have been in this business for a while and know what they are doing, they are a very hard working group. Great team win, players and coaches!!
