How was that broadcast Scooter? ;D ;D
Sounded like Cousins Bubba and Jethro, good ol' redneck basketball!! ;D ;D Great win for the Hawks, rough start and then never looking back. Mexia looks tough but I believe 21-3A will be in Austin once again. Too bad it won't be the same fun in Huntsville this year. -

Not that big of a suprise to me. The Tigers took advantage of HJ's lack of depth this year, give HJ a team that doesn't have that advantage and they get real hard to beat. Congrats HJ. -

With no depth the fouls may kill Cleveland in the end. -
Which game should Scooter! tune into tonight?

The announcing might be a little better on the EC game, maybe. The game I would listen to would be the HJ game too much rivalry there! -

Nice, but if I can't make myself commit to driving to Baytown to see HJ and Cleveland,i am sure not driving to Beaumomt to see that excuse got a coach! -
I find it odd that so many people are putting Gus in front of Prudhomme from HJ. Both are very good and deserving of the recognition. HJ relies on both of them so much!!!
Definitely, Gus is a very good point guard, gives all he has and then some but Sean is the better all around player out of the two.p

Although not sure that should matter.

Good question...less travel distance maybe?

That would give you a good start. But if your realy the best player in SETX you should not go out in your first playoff game.
You know you just keep making a bigger idiot out of your self than anybody on here could have ever imagined. Losing one playoff game doesn't say anything about an individual player. The player you are inferring to had a pretty good night but as a team the Tigers had a bad night . How many other players in this area have started for 4 years(15 games as a freshman), been to Austin twice, and made the all state team. It has been said many times anything can happen in one game, unfortunately for the Tigers that was the case. But no matter how good a player is he can't win games by himself it takes a team. I am sure this particular would take as much blame as any of his teammates but this game doesn't belittle the player that he is. Is he the best player in the area this year? That is an opinion but it has been the opinion of many whose opinions matter a heck of a lot more than yours!!
Ok they are the best 2 players in SETX, that are at home watching the best TEAMS in SETX go on in the playoffs.. Is that better for you :)
I have made references to only one player and unfortunately for that player his team is home watching some of the teams that his team beat continue on in the playoffs. So yes at this point some of those teams are playing better in the playoffs than the Tigers did. But, even though there are a few of these teams still playing who could arguably be considered among the best teams in SETX, there are still some of them that, even with the game the Tigers played friday night, still wouldn't have a chance at beating the Tigers!

The Tigers two victories over HJ don't mean anything the rest of the way now. The only thing that matters where the Tigers have been a concern now is that our loss has made this region HJ or Clevelands as far as being the favorite. I think at least on paper the Tigers matched up fairly even with both teams starting 5 then had the advantage on the bench. We didn't have that big of a size differential with either one. If these two can counteract a team like Sealy sizewise, I feel like one of the two will be in Austin. This matchup should be a good one with both team having fairly equal depth and both with very good starting lineups.

Will these sites all be more or less midway points or will they be closer to each home town?

They have some much quickness and that 11 player sub system is hard for a team to play with. The Kountze and HJ players were sucking wind late in these games. If we can get Sealy to run with them, look for Silsbee to roll.
I can think of at least 2-3 teams that might have something to say about that!!!!
Just for the record......Sealy was not one of the teams I was thinking about!!! Still in shock this morning!!!
Me too! Just a tough night, and all I said looked sad in warmups was our outside shooting and it stayed that way all night.

ST413 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
First off congrats to Sealy, they came out and took it to the Tigers. I am with WOSgrad, I think Coach Williams not being able to come out the second half did have some effect on the Tigers but not as big of an effect as Sealy's play did. The length Sealy had was a big difference. The Tigers did press Sealy but other than the first few minutes Sealy handled it quite well. They used their height to counteract the press often and just plain out beat it at others. Sealy was the one playing the in your face defense for the most part tonight, not full court but in the half court. We had a hard time getting off shots a good portion of the night. Seals-Jones had a big night but it was his teammates that beat us. We only hit 2 3's both by Dante Wilson. The Tigers didn't look good from the outside in warmups and when you put the bigger Sealy players in front of them it just got worse. We also missed several inside shots that weren't contested in a way we weren't used to seeing(what I mean is no big guys up above us). we didn't get to rotate our players like we normally do, I believe because of our lack of size on the bench. Just not enough height to get the rebounds. Meanwhile Sealy did a real good job keeping their players fresh. It looked like we were the tired ones towards the end. DC was a little limited in the third trying to keep from picking up another foul. We seemed to let the pressure of the situation get to us when we started to fall behind and looked unsure of ourselves at times and were careless with the ball at others. I can say the ball seemed to bounce Sealy's way tonight. They had players at the right place at the right times. Many loose balls seemed to go right to them. I am not sure if it was a coaching move or just how it worked out but several times we knocked the ball out of their guards hands towards our goal, they had a player trailing to pick it up. We also had a few defensive letdowns and let players get behind us a few times in the second half. Sealy played great team ball and seemed to know right where their teammates were whenever they got into trouble. Congratulations to my Tigers.I doubt many people expected you to have as great a season as you did. Hold your heads up , we Tiger fans are proud of you. The most important thing tonight however is for Coach Williams to get healthy and hopefully be able to lead the Tigers back to the playoffs next year.
