Now with saying that, I can see where Wise's involvement in AAU could lead speculation that he has a way of recruiting through said involvement.  But maybe it just gives these kids and  their parents a chance to see him in action and therefore decide to transfer to Yates.

So basically open enrollment and a magnet school are pretty much the same thing.  If you transfer into the school,  you sit out either time penalty and then you are eligible.  So either one could be "recruiting" by reputation.... So I can't see Yates as being guilty of anything unless it can be proven that a coach recruied ,any more than any other school with one of those designations and a good history...

OK,  what is the benefit of being declared a magnet school in general not athletically?

Does being a magnet help justify or allow some athletes to attend the school?

I have remembered this about magnet schools from the past and had been wondering about it. This is the statement from the prvious alignment: (4) Multiple High School Districts with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school. A multiple high school district with schools in more than one conference, one of which is a magnet school, shall have the magnet school placed in the same conference as the high school in that school district with the largest enrollment. A magnet school is defined as a high school within a multiple high school district where all students participate in the magnet curriculum. From  [Hidden Content] I had been wondering why Ozen, and Central were allowed in 4A instead of 5A.  Are these schools not considered true magnet schools or what is the true meaning of this rule.  I noticed many of the Houston schools including Yates this year listed as magnet,  but by how I am taking this rule they would have had to be in 5A as well.  Can anyone explain this rule statement.

Great game.  Good win for the Tigers over a much bigger team tonight.  Great play inside by our big men .  We have to start making our free throws and get a little better start to these games.  Great defense once again.  Just need to keep our cool and stay out of foul trouble.  I don't know what kind of year BR's big man has had but the Tigers frustrated and completely kept him out of the game.  Good win guy keep it up.

[/quote] I was sitting right behind the scorers table and heard the ref explain to Coach Sigler, that it wasn't a double tech but two succesive with ours being the last.  therefore no change in the possesion arrow.

I dont know for sure, would have thought more myself but that is the number their arena rental page gives.

You  are right Sterling did beat the Tigers but it was only by six and I believe it took two overtime periods to do it.

[/quote] I haven't seen several only the two I on there.  To be honest I couldn't tell from the camera angle(fairly high up mostly) how big they were.  I did read about there big man, as a football recruit, being 6'4 and somewhere around 240 and from that I would guess they have at least a couple good size guards after seeing them near him. Honestly, they were playing two 4A or 5A schools and both games were close.  I am not sure just how good those teams are.  La Vega has some talent but I wasn't as impressed with them on tape as I have heard some have been in person. Sorry, I put Royal in there first and it was supposed to be LaVega. I have Royal on the brain at the moment!!
