  1. Unless we are not playing Gardner-Webb in 2010, which it seems pretty likely we are...apparently, we are booked in 2010. Our AD announced we are playing at Baylor. No LU-SHSU game as rumored in 2010, at least it seems that way. Only question mark below is G-Webb, who we travel to this year. Got to assume they are coming to us in 2009 or 2010, but we are looking for a money game in 2009 to round out the schedule per our aD last night. 2009 9-19...NORTH DAKOTA STATE TBA...WESTERN ILLINOIS TBA...at Prairie View 2010 9/11...PRAIRIE VIEW TBA...at Western Illinois TBA...at Baylor TBA...GARDNER-WEBB
  2. Good ole ECU (as they prefer to be called) -- SHSU played them this year! Perhaps LU can get them on the slate in the future, perhaps for the 50th anniversary of Cardinal Stadium.
  3. SHSU and Lamar are not interested in playing too many money games. We have two and you guys have 2.5 (the MTE is quasi-money game, I guess). Until we can get a few more schools interested in giving us our home-and-home, we'll continue to see it...of course, neither of our schools are interested in going to UT-Pan!
  4. You guys will beat SHSU in a few weeks! Not sure what to make of your program. I don't think too highly of SMU this year and they took you in four. Outside of that, can't say I am too familiar with the teams. The SLC East seems even weaker than normal this year (can't believe NWST and McN lost to ULL), but you guys are in the West now. SLC is all that matters anyway... And ABR...major conferences don't matter if you are playing a team like Mississippi State (lost to Nich and McN), Texas Tech, Auburn and quite a few others...this is VB, not football!
  5. Lamar has the better schedule in terms of name opponents, particularly on the road. SHSU does have the better overall home schedule. That Wright State game is my favorite one. Western Michigan is too young this year, they may be fun on the return trip up there. I just love the two in-state money games. May as well play those in-state schools if we're going to play two money games.
  6. Highlights * Two in-state money games (UTEP and A&M) * Final game of a 2 for 1 with Texas Tech (SHSU is 2-1 against Knight family at Tech) * In-season home-and-home with North Texas * First year of home-and-home series with Western Michigan, Wright State (both in Huntsville this year) * First year of home-and-home with La-Lafayette (on road) * Year two of four year home-and-home with Central Florida * Typical four sub-Div I games * 4 of 6 to end the season at home [Hidden Content]
  7. This should make North Carolina interesting with 15 Div I schools, if the BoT approves it. That's as many as Texas! -------------- Phil Dubois delivered his answer to the UNC Charlotte board of trustees on Thursday: Yes, he’s ready for some football. The UNC Charlotte chancellor recommended the school add a football program beginning in 2013, with estimated startup costs of $45 million. Trustees will make the final call with a vote in November on whether football is added. “In my entire professional life, I have not faced a more difficult decision,†he said. “And I say that because it has required a consideration of not only what people may say they want today or what we may be able to afford today or what students can legitimately be asked to pay today, but also a consideration of what will matter to the university 20 years from now.†[Hidden Content]
  8. Saw on the UCA board that a fan of the Bears reported LU would be closed for two weeks...any updates from you guys in the Triangle?
  9. SHSU has pushed back the series they had with Prairie View A&M. In doing so, SHSU will play host to the Panthers in 2009 while traveling to PV in 2010. Originally, SHSU was supposed to host PV today and go to PV next year. Now with this change, SHSU has two FCS road contests with PV and Western Illinois in 2010. We have three SLC road games that year plus four SLC home games. I have not confirmed when SHSU completes the Gardner-Webb home-and-home, but I believe G-W comes to Huntsville in 2010. That's five home and five away games in an 11 game year. Originally, SHSU was reportedly going to head to LU in 2010. I have a hard time believing that we'll still be interested in that and would do what we could to get six home games (though not required). With the Cards heading to both SLU (not confirmed -- though very reliable source) and McNeese (confirmed) in September 2010 during the four weeks prior to the start of SLC play, I would have to think they would not want three road games in their first four games of the year for their first year of competitive football. See, Ike is impacting LU football -- just my thoughts on the subject and the possible impact as I do not believe a contract has been signed for SHSU-LU at this point.
  10. BIG BIG BIG NEWS! Southland TV is now going to be on FCS! Those who get the DirecTV Sports Pack can find it on Channel 617. They are working out details for basketball...Southland TV has scored it BIG! [Hidden Content]
  11. National FCS media getting in on talking Cards hires...scroll down a bit to the Lagniappe... CSN Down South: Who Needs What as Business Picks Up By Jason Plotkin, CSN Down South Columnist [Hidden Content]
  12. SHSU golf roster released... [Hidden Content]
  13. Who cares about football? I'm more interested in your futbol coach. You guys scroll past the football and read about Hardman? That guy is clever. Can you send him over to SHSU? I like his out of the box thinking...you guys got a winner there (and now it's on the field too...)
  14. High-fives all around! LU and SHSU combine for the weekend sweep of South Alabama! According to the SHSU post-game release, the Jaguars came into the contest with a 15-3-1 all-time record against the Southland Conference in soccer...they are now 15-4-1 with two of the four losses coming to our squads...
  15. My thoughts... CSTV's GameTracker is light years ahead of JumpTV's product. It's like comparing Windows Vista to 3.1. JumpTV got some much crap about it last year that they threw out Gamewatcher and have changed things up. I haven't honestly seen it yet, but anything is an improvement over last year... From a web site standpoint, I think CSTV is too vanilla. Every site has too similar a look. The JumpTV sites are much different. A few people cluttered theirs up, but JumpTV has some finely tuned web sites for quite a few schools and seems to really have done a better job in the revenue-producing areas than CSTV because that's where they make their $$$...
  16. GameTracker does not do golf...GolfStat does...and GameTracker doesn't do it all. Keep in mind, GameTracker is a CSTV thing, so of course you have it for your games since you are a CSTV school. You sometimes may have to view the JumpTV stats program, which an increasing amount of schools use -- including a few in the SLC (SHSU, NWST, A&M-CC and McN)...
  17. In the recently released ITA national rankings... 125 Mariaryeni Guitierrez Lamar The SLC is getting better and better as a tennis conference. Hopefully, she'll be joined shortly! No regional rankings yet, but hopefully Guitierrez comes through at ITA Regionals in October.
  18. Nice win! USA has had a tough go as of late with the Hurricane-related changes to their slate, but that was a strong win for the Cards. We USA on Sunday and are going for our first-ever three match win streak...
  19. I'll see what I can do -- not guaranteeing anything as it is golf and I'm not always able to get info on golf (no boosters or others contact me re: the golf team compared to other sports)...
  20. SHSU's golf program got a $350,000 donation that led to a new training facility that just opened... [Hidden Content]
  21. Not jealous in the least-sense...just explaining things for coachacola. I've just always been shocked how much pull golf boosters have on their program more so than any other sport's boosters and their programs. Golf boosters are the most powerful in collegiate athletics...
  22. And to think, I get paid to write... "Expecting our sixth win in the seven attempts since I was born when the teams meet in 2010, that win coming in Beaumont." That work for you? We all know how grammatically incorrect the faithful on this board are. Many of you do not even have the common courtesy to use a comma.
  23. SHSU is 5-1 during my lifetime. Expecting our sixth win in seven attempts since I was born in 2010, that win coming in Beaumont.
  24. That's how golf works. For whatever reason, there are a lot of golf-specific boosters who may not give to the department as a whole or other sports. They typically carry a lot of power...never quite understood it, but that's how it works.
  25. Glad to see the Div I Cards beating up on what was then a first-year Div II school. They'll have to do that as a Division I program yet again if they want respect around this league. What humors me is that SHSU still holds an edge in the series against the Cards despite typically being a lower classification. SHSU is 3-1 when both were Division I...
