With the smaller schools cancelling games and moving schedules around, I sure hate to see what happens when the 5A/6A get cranked up. More students, teachers, players and faculty in these bigger schools, wonder how many cancelled games we have in just week 1?

If there's one thing this has taught us, we can survive without sports. We can survive without movies and concerts.
Isn't it crazy that we idolize, follow, and imitate athletes and celebrities who have been proven to be non-essential by Covid?
OK IM HONESTLY STRUGGLING WITHOUT BIG BROTHER! LOL

I work for a school district and I ve been pushing for them to start like normal. I don’t live in fear. I ve done my own research. I’m not scared of flu or tb so why should I be scared of covid....
kids learn best when there is schedule and routine.
texas high school football is probably one of the best events in Texas....
I know some schools Admins (conservative leaning) are starting like normal with parents having the option of online.
In your research, did you see where there is NOT a cure or a vaccine for the virus? Don't live in fear but you better respect this virus. We will be reading your story on FB talking about how you wish you would have taken the necessary precautions to try and prevent catching this virus. I hope as a teacher you lead by example and practice social distancing, sanitize and wear your mask..........ESPECIALLY if they allow kids to return to school here in the next few weeks.

Sheriff’s all over Texas have said their not going to enforce the mask issue. That should tell you something. Like maybe they don’t want to get sued because it’s not a justified legal law that has any solid science behind it. If you feel like you should wear one then wear one if you feel like you don’t need one then don’t wear one. Stopping the virus from spreading is like trying to stop a leaky bucket with a 1000 holes in it with 10 fingers. Ready for this to be over with for sure.

I am talking about the lockdown as a whole. Not just 2 weeks. You totally distorted my post. Did you read the link? Probably not. At what point does these mini lockdowns stop. Believe me I am so done with this nonsense also. I’ve lost 65% of my business that took me 14 years to buildup only to have it wiped out in a 2 week period in March. Most of my accounts has already went out of business. All of these experts making theses decisions haven’t lost a paycheck so we’re not all in this together. When everyone throws in 65% of their income or all of their income into a care fund then maybe I’ll feel like we’re all in this together. I feel for the ones that have lost all of their business at least I have a little bit left. Rant over!
Little brother Rant On! Man seems alot of us posting on here if therapeutic! LOL I apologize you have lost $$. Praying for all of you guys and your families recovery.

The data and science that is out there doesn’t warrant the insanity of school closures. Just about every civilized nation in the world is opening or already has opened their schools. The damage of the lockdown will far exceed the the damage of the virus. I don’t need the government to keep my family alive so they can keep us from living. Stop with the reindeer games an let we the people govern our selves. The political aspect of how the Texas government is reacting to this virus is sickening!
Sounds great! Please elaborate on how a 2 week lock down will exceed the damage of the virus? We are setting daily records with COVID cases and deaths. I totally get............let me govern themselves. The problem is PEOPLE are not! Instead of wearing s simple mask and practicing social distancing, we have IDIOTS fighting when asked to back the hell up or NO MASK NO SERVICE. Then folk dont wanna wear their mask, call the police, and they cant even enforce it. Lord and if they do, there is 15 stupid a$% cell phone cameras taping every move. So over it!

I am beginning to think the same. I will actually be surprised if we have a football season. With some college conferences shutting or minimizing their season, it's hard to believe that there will be a Texas high school football season.
Dallas ISD sup has stated that he does not expect a high school football season this fall.
As much as I hate it, I am in agreement with you. I just dont see any way HS football takes place this fall. I dont even see NFL and COLLEGE football making a full season.

This is happening at all levels. Stanford will discontinue 11 of their varsity sports due to the pandemic. There will be more HS and Colleges doing the same thing.

I am a Maintenance Supervisor for a plant on the channel. We require face protection at all times unless sitting at your desk alone. When the techs are outside working 8 hours a day in the heat, the biggest complaint they have is NOT being able to breathe. We have had incidents where techs have shortness of breath, headaches and dizzy due to breathing exhaled carbon dioxide. Now these guys are working hard in the heat and exert themselves somewhat. I have a difficult time thinking players and officials will be able to run up and down the field for 3 hours and not experience some of the same symptoms if not greater than these techs!
I can NOT believe its going to be August in 20 plus days!

I did tell the truth I never said all 215 schools had positive test I said they shutdown because of covid which is the truth. The nfl has advised individual workouts and I don't know of any colleges that are working out. But the south Carolina governor is on the verge of canceling college and high school football in his state if the numbers keep raising but I think he she considered spring football before doing that. Folks I'm 99.9 percent sure as are some of you out it's not going to be a full season for any level if the wanna play in the fall. 5 to 7 games not counting the playoffs will be the max. Now I speaking on high school football I don't know about the other 2 levels but pretty sure they wont have a full schedule Ethier. I feel bad for the players and parents of those players. But now it's about not getting sued and making fans sign waivers because it going be some blaming the schools nfl etc if they get sick or the kids get sick all of that is coming in to play now since the numbers keep raising. So the high school sports association nfl and the NCAA are going to take their time and cover there butts. If a person can sue their on moma for slamming their hand in her door and win people will fine ways to get money out of this.
Wife and i were actually discussing lawsuits taking place if HS football were to take place. There is ALWAYS a loop hole and someone will find a way to make $$ if Lil Joey catches this virus. So sick and tired of the NEW NORM! Masks, clean this, dont touch your face, dont flush the toilets in public cuz the spray can get on you, sanitize your hands, dont cough, sneeze or fart cuz you might infect someone. One day masks are good, one day they aint. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH top of my lungs!

Officials/Coaching draft pushed back til the end of July.
-
Wish they could give this thing a month to see if the virus dies down and then try and start back up. Push the season back and lets roll with district games. Heck I dunno what they need to do.
-
Just read that. People please take care of yourself. This virus has now hit home with my employer. Had multiple people at my workplace test positive for the covid. Prayers to them and a speedy recovery. Let's keep each other informed, educated and aware. Prayers to all

The problem I have with the news in general and this article in particular is the sensationalism. They mention the word "apocalyptic" several times without really explaining what they mean. We know the fatality rate is not high compared to the number infected but yet apocalyptic gets thrown around. Gtfoh with all that (not you falcon the news lol).
I feel ya. Wish I could turn off the dam news!!!!!!!!!!!!
