I agree with you BucketSitR.
This was a great game. Both of these teams were matched up well and this was one of those games that someone had to come up short. I think all thought that Laneville's Anderson was going to get his, but I think he was well under his average. There were very few three's dropped by either team. Nearly all of the scoring was around the lower block's or off of a rebound.
Spurger played one heck of a game and they walked out of the gym sad, but most definitely with their heads up.
Again, I am proud of these men. What a season. -

I am wondering why Burkeville played Spurger's game and not theirs?

I ate my Burkeville Crow this morning.
I agree with AAW, this run is over with the Laneville game. -
Yes, those teams that can shoot the throws down the stretch can make the difference in a game.
Leggett a a team is a good free throw shooting team. -
Next up for Leggett is Saltillo. This one will test Leggett. I do not hink Leggett will get past Saltillo. Should be an interesting game.
-
Recieved text from some guys that went to thus game (and Burkevilles) that Leggett won by 4.
-
Not sure what ShowOuts description of "team basketball is", but having watched Burkeville play four times, EVERTHING goes through #23. Everthing. If he doesn't have a shot, he will launch it up and hope that someone will pick up the trash. Even if he is well past the three point line. He will force up a shot hopeing to draw fouls as he is a good free throw shooter. The others are there to support him.
If Martinsville puts someone on his front bumper and prevent him from getting the ball, Burkeville will most definitely lose. -
Martinsville will quickly see that #23 for Burkeville is 85% of the offense. They will pressure him and force the wild shots.
Martinsville by 10+. -

Rule #1 Score More Than Your Opponent
Rule #2 Keep Your Opponent From Scoring
Rule #3 Play with Class & Sportsmanship -
Yes, I was very surprised by Goodrich. I would have thought that they would have given Leggett more than they did Thursday evening and then to lose to Burkeville.
Leggett got exactly what they deserved tonight with Spurger and their fans. I really do not think that they are used to the players, coaches and fans giving them what they dish out. It is sad when a AD has to stand behind the Leggett coach to keep him from running his mouth at the fans and then the law enforcement had to stand guard at the locker rooms to keep them from starting something. Maybe someone needs to send them a book or DVD on sportsmanship.
I am very proud of the way Spurger played and fought through those three games.
Spurger District Champs! -
I agree with HeadCoach. Win the first one and then you know that you are in. Let Friday determine if you want a bye or not.
-
I think that you will see a similar performance and outcome to the second time these two played.
Spurger won by 14 in that second game. I say Spurger +10. Burkeville win play hard and will not give up. This will be a good game.
Possible breaking news.....
