  1. I am happy to see that Coach Isaacs has made this move. I have watched him for several years and have felt for some time that it would not be long at he would get a shot at a larger program. Things I do know is that boys really like him, are inspired by him, he is fair and has a genuine heart for the kids. He brings with him a christian faith that the boys respond to also. I am looking forward to the schedules to be posted so as I can tip toe to a gym and watch him. Good luck Coach Isaacs, you will be a success where ever you are.

Why must you "Tip toe" to the gym?

I reckon I'll bust the door down then and watch the game!!! hahahaha

  3. I think that they will be competitive but not reach the success they experienced the last 3-4 years for several reasons. The big one is that the little dribblers programs ended a few years ago and thus there is not a programs to teach the kids when they are small basics. An additional reason is the of this string, to hire and keep a good coach for any length of time in a 1A school is very hard. There is not a consistant influence and too many things are in play/flux. Up until the last taste of success over these last few years, there really wasn't a desire to be much or obtain much. If it happened, it just happened. A few people got involved in the little dribbler program, pooled together those boys and we all saw what happened. The last thing lacking is leadership in the district to be more than just average. That might tick some off, but from my view, soem just do not want to change. Thats my 3.5 cents worth.
  4. Thanks for update AggiesAreWe. One of the problems that face small districts is that it is hard to keep a successful coach for more than a few years. An exception to this would be Big Sandy. These 1A schools struggle for many things and athletic success is one of them. Getting a good coach and a good teacher in the same package is hard to find and these small schools just can not afford to have a great coach but a sub-par teacher.
  5. I've been looking for updates for this game as I would like to know how or why Spurger popped them for 100+.
Just a week or so there was sizable amount of comments when Goodrich did this to Chester.
I understand Chester may only have a few players (I think it was mentioned that they only had 8 in the previous thread) but there is no reason to thump a team like this in my opinion. If I was there I would have left early or been tossed to critizing the coach.
    Could someone post details?
  6. I watched Spurger play Warren a week or so ago. They are not the team that they have had the last 3-5 years that's for sure. The team is young and a bit smaller than previous. Also there really is not a bench to speak of as Spurger does not have a Little Dribblers program to build a program from. Watching these kids play, they have a lot of heart and determination and by the looks of it they will not give up.
As with most high school or college sports, each year brings new players, skill level and ability. It would be very unfair to compare this group to the previous.
  7. For what it is worth, I asked my son about this since he was on a team that the b-ball coach required the players to run cross country.

He said that he felt that it did several things. 1) it helped them to be better physically prepared for 1st practice. Note: this school doesn't have football. 2) he felt like he could go the whole distance. He said he does not know if was mental or physical, but he felt that having ran CC before basketball did make a difference.

This probably doesn't change anything on this board, but from a players view it did help him.
  8. The question is not about Perry or other poiticans. I am sure some would ask True Blue would be, "have you ever WORKED a day in your life?" I am sure some around you would say, "no". What's the point then? So, anyone can take anyone else's salary times the number of years worked and total a hefty sum. So? One could say the same to True Blue too. So.
The point is, the local districts are in trouble by their own hands and by the state misusing funds. Now what do we do about it? That's the point.
