  1. Prayers in Coldspring for Robby our ball boy.  He is a real inspiration for the team.  The players were very upset with him being Ill.  If anyone has any updates please post.  Also Sherman Gilbert went down on the field after the game.  I heard it was dehydration in conjuction with the flu he has has.  This kid has a lot of heart.  Please say some prayers for these guys that God will watch over them and nurse them back to health.
  2. I'm gonnna tell u something right now Bellville is a really good football team.  They could easily have been a quarter final or semi final team.  Very well coached team.  With that said we were just a touch better tonight.  We are gonna get the offense fixed.  I noticed some of the linemen were moved around.  So once that group gets it going we should be alright.  We just faced two of the toughest teams in our region and came out with tough wins.  The defense is playing great and that is what wins championships.  If we make it back to Dallas we can look back at these two games and say how much they really helped us improve.
  3. Yeah he used to go by scooter.  He has never really showed us much respect.  He said we wouldn't make it to Dallas last year.  He is a big high school football guru.  I knew this post would draw him out.  Yes you are right scooter we did have some down years, but the last three have been good to us.

I guarantee you that CS could hang with any of those teams. Maybe not this year, but most years, even PAM. A wise old coach named JB Bearden used to tell us that you can only put 11 on the field at a time. If your best 11 are better than their best 11 then good things will happen. Doesn't matter how many kids are walking their halls...

That's right only 11 can get on the field at one time.  I have always said that if I excite my plays I don't care if the other team has the playbook.  It's all about execution on the field.  When I coached I made sure our 11 was more prepared than their 11 and that is what it is all about.  I have heard things about depth and all of that which does help in the fourth quarter, but if your team is well conditioned then that don't really matter either.  So this argument is some what moot.  West Orange plays up against 4A teams all the time and does well so I think Coldspring could also.

That's great. I was praying for him to be able to play. It doesn't matter what us fans blab about, its about the kids. They are the reason were even on here talking trash. You have to admit, its all fun and games. I NEVER want to see a kid get hurt and not be able to play. For some of these kids, football can be their ticket to college.

Not only that, for many kids it is the only time in their lives they will get to put on a helmet and play the game we so love to play.  For many kids it could be their last game.
  6. I hate to tell u this but Coldspring could hang with any of those teams except for PAM.  I think we could beat Livingston and PNG this year.  You act like it is unreal for a 3A team to beat 4A schools.  When I played we played 3 4A schools and beat two of them.  The only loss was to 4A defending champ La Marque and we played them tough.  So it is not unlikely for a 3A team that is good to beat 4A teams.
  7. He told me the same thing in the spring.  What I really love about coach Barbay is his confidence.  I don't know if anyone noticed how upset he looked last year after that state title game.  It looked like he could have tossed that runner-up trophy back at the guy that handed it to him.  I already knew why when I saw him.  He completely felt like we should have beaten Carthage.  I believe we should have without some of the mental breakdowns in the secondary and some turnovers.  I think he knew that also and it ate him up.
  8. I don't understand how some people can say Coldspring is overrated from one game.  This is the second year in a row we have faced Bridge City in the first round.  Last year it was close at the half and we kinda took off in the second half.  Both teams play in tough districts and each year we know our top teams are gonna face eachother in the playoffs.  It is called Bi-District.  It is almost like playing an extra district game.  I felt like the Trojans could stretch the score a little in the second half, but the Cardinals played with a lot of heart on defense to keep it close.  Also let's not forget offensively the offensive line had not played a varsity playoff game before.  They are still learning and in my opinion doing a great job for a groups first year at the highest level with a target.  Were number three in the State.  Were gonna get everyone's best shot because of that and the run we made last year.  So overrated I don't believe.  It's gonna be a tough road, but we can do it.
  9. I would like see Huffman get this one, but I have seen some highlights of Navasota and they are big strong and fast.  I think Navasota probably has the best shot at beating Tyler Chappel Hill in this region.  Good luck to Huffman.  Hopefully it is a injury free clean game and y'all can get the W.
  10. Yeah Kirbyville beat us a few times in our down years, but to be honest I have never heard of Kirbyville in football before we played them in 2004.  Now as for Coldspring we had some really strong teams in the '90's.  So we are not like Lumberton where we were always down and now we are just having some success.  These deep runs in the playoffs are not something new for us.  Just look at my tag at the bottom.  We dont have any titles yet, but that is the only thing that separates us from what WOS has.  They have have a winning tradition over their and so do we.  If y'all think that after Gilbert leaves we will be easy to beat you have another thing coming.  We have Coach Barbay and Coach Morrison and that is the difference.  We have athletes and more are coming up.
  11. If Bellville is coached by Coach Rowes brother I reckon they probably run the wing t much like Livingston does.  I don't think it will be a blowout like last year when we beat Columbus up pretty good.  I do believe we can win the game, but it is gonna be a battle much like the Bridge City game.  The number three ranking is gonna make this run even tougher than last year.  We have had some pretty good battles with Bellville in the past in the playoffs and I don't expect this to be any different.
  12. Forgive but I don't understand why it is ok for WO-S and these other schools from 21-3A to talk up their teams or boast about a victory.  When Trojan fans do it, it's a travesty.  I hope we do meet up with the Mustangs.  Mem had a great post about the game and I agree with it whole heartily.  We got a tough road to get back to Dallas and their are gonna be some close calls along the way, but we gotta have faith and work at it.  Bridge City is a fine football team and did a great job of giving us all we wanted.
  13. He runs hard and is very shifty and difficult to tackle, but the best in the region I would not say that.  I think he is an all-region type player.  There are some very good athletes in this region.  As far as San Augstine's defense goes I don't know about those other games but against Hemphill the score looked like a six-man football game.  In fact sometimes in the game it looked like six-man football.  It was from one end to the other.
