  1. I have taken a look at some of Rockdale's stuff.  They have some pretty big guys on the roster.  I looked at the games they played also and they came in third place in their district.  I really believe Coldspring can take this one.  I think the speed will once again be a big factor as it was in the W-OS game.  I think by two touchdowns would be a pretty good prediction.  I really hate to make a prediction though because the kids have to perform and I don't want to jinx that.  No doubt it will b a very good game.

Silsbee....could you guys please just win, win, win, win, etc. (is that enough to win state)?  Second, could Rockdale beat Coldspring and Caldwell beat Cleveland, so their "fans" will go away and stop this euphoric fixation on how THIS YEAR 22-AAA beat ALMOST everyone except SILSBEE...oops, did you forget about that last little hurdle coming out of 21-AAA?

We take comfort in hoping that your players are a wee-bit more focused on this week's games than on last weeks wins.  I don't know exactly what it will take for us to say to you...we've conceded that COLDSPRING won the game.  You played smarter than we did.  You WON the game.  Wish we could loan you a little couthe and suave', but I guess that just comes naturally with more wins, winning seasons, and playoff runs.  Keep working and you'll get there, but we do respect you for what you have accomplished...you beat us.  Cleveland beat BC.  Our seasons are over and we are now looking forward to next season...you just concentrate on Friday!!!

I love how most of the WOS people can talk all kinds of smack when their team beats someone.  When someone beats them they start crying and wants everyone to stop talking about it.  I refuse to stop talking about Coldspring beating WOS.  It was a big win for us.  Just as it would have been had WOS beat Coldspring.  So stang fans just take your licks as you would have given it to us had we lost as in years past.
  3. I get tired of hearing all the lame WOS fans.  They always think WOS is gonna win the state title.  Since they came back down to 3A they have not won anything.  I doubt they could get close to Carthage.  I'm a former Trojan and really believe the Trojans can get this one this year if they play good football and eliminate mistakes.  I sure hope they do anyway cause I'm tired of hearing WOS this and WOS that.  It really gets old on this discussion board.  I usually just watch.  This time I had to comment.  If you get past us good luck against Rockdale.  At least stop bad mouthing 22-3A we used to run this area in the 90's.
  4. This game should have been a blowout and not this close.  Fumbles kept Crockett in this one.  Coldspring had the ball at the one yard line and fumbled in the first quarter.  Then had it inside the ten in the second quarter.  With all the mistakes it was only 19-6 at the half.  If Coldspring eliminates the fumbles they are gonna be tough to beat.  Crockett is a playoff caliber team and Coldspring hung in their and came back to win.  They showed some real heart being down 10 with 5 minutes to go.

  5. I did not say anything about having confidence in your team that they should win.  My thing is that you guys are always talking about all these wins and district titles which are great.  The district you play in though is far from the best in the entire state.  Which I'm sure will be argued about here.  I'm not saying that WO-S is not a good team, but it does get sickening to hear people say they are just going to roll Coldspring by four scores.  I think this will happen if the same mistakes are made that were made in last years game.  Also I believe Fitzhenry was out of that game against WO-S last year with an injury.  I wish I were going to be home to go to this game.  I think it will be a really good one.

  6. I'm kinda curious how many state titles WOS has won.  I mean all the people from down their act like they have won all these state titles and all.  That they rule Texas high school football or something.  I'm a Coldspring alum and I really hope they lay one to you guys to put you in your place.  I'm really getting tired of hearing about WOS.  Last year they were supposed to win the title, but really the big thing was to get past Giddings which was on a down year.  Did that then lost.  So I hope my Trojan friends can pull this one out and take all you lovers down one.

  7. I don't know if this question is posed to show that we cannot get out of the past and start living in the future.  I mean we hold on to High school football from our perspective alma mater's as in some way one of the coaches is going to yell up at us to go in the game.  I really go to the games just see how things are going, but if I cannot make it no sweat off my back.  I don't break my back to get to game.  I like to go see other schools play also.  As a future Coach I like to go see what other offensive and defensive strategies are out their.  I also love the fact that I live in Texas where even if it is some bad teams the game is usually competitive.  Everyone here knows that Texas is top of the line for High school football and many small towns whether win or lose the town lives to be their on Friday Nights.  Some the bigger cities this may not be as true.  Don't get me wrong we should all go support our alma mater's, but I think part of it is to re-live our past glories of playing the game.

  8. 96 Coldspring Trojans 36.4pf vs. 11.4pa 12-2 record that year we also faced LaMarque who was the the 4A state champions back to back and Magnolia and Lumberton in 4A.  In the playoffs we played the likes of Newton, Sealy, Cameron, Center, and La Grange.  This has to be ranked right their amongst some of the best teams in the area.

92 Trojan Team was very good also with 36.4pf vs 14.6pa 14-2 record.  This team played the likes of Center, Waco Robinson, Columbus, Bellville, Marble Falls, and South Lake Carrol.  The only loss in the playoffs was in the state title game to Carrol who should have been in 4A.  Columbus had the Schobel brothers who are now pretty good players in the NFL.  I think this team also needs to be put in their with the best in the area as well.

Being that you are talking about a team outside of the Golden Triangle. I will have to include

the Sealy Tiger's from "Title Town USA". Best I recall back in the late 1990's they put together a 64-0 run

and claimed 4 consecutive State Titles.

The discussions does not mention Golden Triangle, but I will say Sealy had one of the best runs in the State in the late 90's we really should have beaten them in that semi-final game at the dome.  Then it would have only been three titles.

  10. I remember hearing about that Daingerfield team.  They were really good.  I would have to say they are one the states all time best.  Purely from a statistical stand point in class 3A.  I don't really understand why everyone wants to compare teams from different classifications.  It does not make sense.  Yeah some 3A teams could romp on some 4A teams, but the fact is the bigger classifications are bigger because they have a bigger pool of people to pull from.  We should be doing this by classification.

  11. I think Coldspring could be considered for this.  They lost Zavius Johnson to graduation, but they still have the other big kid who ran very well last year.  I cannot remember his name he also played middle linebacker.  I think with a full offseason under Coach Barbay and a nice group of returners the Trojans should do very well.  The J.V. team also did very good last season winning the district I believe and they have some real talent.  I think Coldspring could really surprise some people and go further than bi-district in the playoffs.

  12. I would have to say the Coldspring Trojan teams of the 90's had a pretty good run.  In 92 we ran into a South Lake Carrol team that should have been in 4A or higher in the State Title game.  Then in 97 we played Sealy in the semi finals a game we should have won.  Sealy at the time was in the midst of winning 4 strait 3A titles.  We also had some very deep runs into the playoffs in between those years.  Many district titles over that time frame as well.

  13. How come no one ever talks about Coldspring on here.  They used to run this district until about 2000 when we hit some hard times.  I think they are on their way back with Coach Barbay leading the way.  He will bring back that discipline that has been lacking for a few years along with the Trojan tradition that we once enjoyed where we won the district for ten straight years with big scores over everyone and deep playoff runs.  I think Coldspring really has a good chance to win this district over Cleveland if they play the way they should under Barbay.  I'm not a big fan of that type of offense, but Coach Barbay knows the ins and outs of it as it is the offense he learned under his Dad at Newton as a player and later as a Coach.  I think Coldspring has really good shot at making the playoffs and make a good run.  They played WO-S very tough in the first half of the bi-district game last year before they made some mental errors in the second half and WO-S took advantage.  The J.V. team also had a very successful season last year.  I believe they won the district.  So make no mistake Coldspring is re-emerging, and I'm sure they have had a very successful offseason workout.

  14. I love those quote things you do that is very funny.  Also the idiotic thing was very entertaining.  I never said one thing bad about WO-S.  I just said that since they dropped down to 3a they were a much better team and have done more things in the playoffs.  I agree WO-S has done some phenomenal things throughout their history. I just can't stand the arrogance that you guys have sometimes and the things that I have read the last couple of days.  You have a tremendous Coach in Coach Hooks.  I think a little humbleness would serve you well.  I didn't like the post saying that #20 was good wish he were on a good team.  That is a punch in the face to the kids who have practiced and played very hard this year.  If not for the silly fumbles in the second half this game could have been much different.  That is that old clique coulda, shoulda, woulda though.  So I want hang my hat on that.  I wish them good luck next week against Giddings.

  15. #20 was on a good team this year.  They had some troubles with getting down the offense and they had problems with turnovers late in the year.  Coldspring is back on it's upward swing of going to the playoffs every year and it will not be long before they are doing what the teams did in the 90's going very deep into the playoffs.  Nothing bad against WO-S but you guys had not done much until the last few years when you dropped down from 4a.  Coldspring has a few years of down teams.  Coldspring used to be a feared team in East Texas in 3a and with Coach Barbay their to bring back some of the traditions I think you will see a rise again to dominance within the district and deep into the playoffs.

  16. Fumbles have just tormented my Trojans this season.  This will be something that Coach Barbay will have address in the offseason.  I know the Trojans will be good again next year with Coach Barbay having a full off-season to put his whole program together.  Four fumbles in the second half just will not do it.  Good luck to WO-S next week against Giddings you guys have a really good football team.
