1. I just think it is a little odd for a bunch of high school kids to have tatoo's.  Ware and Claiborne had some also.  My friend sitting next to me thought they were probably fake.  Maybe some type of intimidation factor going on.  I don't really care about it.  I have tatoo's, but I don't believe high school kids should be all tatooed up like their fresh off a prison farm.

Morgan has to get some looks. Most accurate passer in 3A

If he was a little taller I think it would be a no brainer, but he is 5'10 and that could be a problem for bigger schools.  One of the best passers I have seen at the high school level.  There were some throws he made and our d-backs had really good coverage on them.  I was really impressed with him.  I was not so impressed with the crazy hair cut or tatoo's he had.  I don't know if anyone saw that or not, many of the Carthage players had tatoo's.  I don't know if they were real or fake.  I just kinda thought it was weird for a bunch of high school kids to have tats.

Stack the box to stop Holland, and you'll see why Morgan threw for just under 3300 yards this year. (74 TD throws the last two yrs)

So...lets say that Coldspring has the defensive line to pretty much stop Holland (and you just might from what I'm reading). But do you also have the secondary to match up with a prolific passing attack? Serious question, since maybe you have that too for all I know.

Really Trigger that made u happy to see.  I thought u said u were a former Trojan?  I mean if you are then how can you get on here and talk this way.  I think both running backs did an outstanding job this year.  Next year we won't have Cody so we will have to ride with Sherman.  I think it is kinda sad though that you get on here and think it is funny that Sherman got hit like that by a mch bigger kid, and if I'm right proclaimed to be a former Trojan.  I would love to know who you are because I'm a former Trojan as well.
And.....there you have it. Coldspring had perhaps the best run defense I've seen against the Dawgs, but Morgan was given too much time to throw, and that's asking for trouble. Gilbert was definitely all that he was advertised to be- wow! Speed to burn and shifty-quick. Congrats on making it to the State Championship; no one can ever take that away from you.

Congratulations to Carthage on the big win!  I will say this, your offensive line sure improved over when they played Jasper last year.  I remember Morgan almost getting sacked several times then.  CS never got close.  And that is saying a lot to keep CS out.

And yes, Gilbert is something special.  Just like his brother at Oklahoma State.  I had the privilege of watching both, and they can MOVE!

Gilbert played like the little brother of a great player.  Willie Gault was special too, but it takes more than speed to be a running back.  IF gilbert "jr." makes it to the next level, he won't be in anybody's backfield. He's special teams or DB material.  The kid has no power or fight to survive in the backfield.  Heck, compare him to the kid from Pearland and they are polar opposites.  Cummings was the better back!

My fondest  ::)memory of Gilbert was towards the end of the game when Kendall Thomas tackled him as they tried to run Gilbert up the middle...Gilbert went limp as Thomas just wrapped his arms around him...Now that was special :o  :-*

4. I can't wait till we lineup with Kirbyville again.  I saw the first game of last year.  I missed the playoff game.  Y'all are true test for us and I have never been over there to watch a game.  So looking forward to the road trip.  Need to get Fox Sports over there for the DQ big game of the week.  That would be really cool for this little rivalry we are starting to develop.
5. This year I have posted more on the board than in previous years.  This is probably due to the fact my Trojans had so much success.  It is so much easier to get on here at say things when your team is winning.  I love this message board and rely on it more than I know during football season.  When I'm gone at work and need to know if the Trojans won or lost I can always find out here.  None of the other sites cover Coldspring Trojan football quite like here.  I know sometimes I can get a little too passionate about the Trojans and say some things I shouldn't,  but that is how I have always been about my Alma mater and will always be.  That is probably why my Karma is negative 300 something and I will never be able to climb out of that hole.  Sorry Scooter you add a lot to the board.  WOS Grad thanks for all you do and the many others here that provide indepth high school football coverage.  I may not be on much during the off season, but come August I will back strong to talk about another great season of high school football which I love probably more than college or pro football.  It has been a great year for me with the Trojans going to the State Finals, but I also recognize those which we lost like Reggie and Coach Barbay.  I can't wait till next season.  Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
6. I want take this time to congratulate the boys on a fine season.  Nothing to hang their heads over.  Carthage was the better team and deserves everything.  Ever since Coach Moynahan left we have been up and down with coaches until four years ago when Coach Barbay returned to Coldspring.  I hope all the seniors learned some valuable life lessons.  The underclassmen need to just keep working to continue this and get that title.  I'm very proud to call myself a Trojan.  I never thought I would see my high school on T.V.  It was an awesome season and I can't wait until late August early September to do it again.  I don't get on this board much in off season.  So to all message board guys see you all next season.

Good article on Coldspring in Chronicle- http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/hso/7341504.html
Nice article, however, the stats for both players are way, way off....Cummings has probably 1,100 more yds and 15 more td's than the article shows and Gilbert is probably less than 200 yds from having 2000 yds rushing for the season (that's with missing the first 3 games of the season due to injury)...His td total is also off...
As a former mass communication student I'm always surprised when writers don't double check/verify their work, especially when it comes to figures, etc...Afterall they're putting their name on it and the piece is going to be around forever in some kind of format...It'd also be nice for the kids to be able to show their kids, grandkids, etc. a story on them with the correct info...Just my opinion...

That's like a couple weeks ago when a guy from the Cleveland Advocate wrote a story about making history after beating Athens.  He obviously did not know our school history as he wrote that in 1996 we lost to South Lake Carrol in the semi-finals.  He was basically saying that if we beat Wimberley they would make school history which would be inaccurate not to mention the game with South Lake Carrol was in 1992 in the finals.  We actually lost in 96 to Sealy in the semi finals.  If we win tomorrow that will be history.

9. Scooter u completely missed my point, but that is to be expected when u pick teams to lose and u have not seen them play.  I have seen Carthage play and know they are good.  I just think we match up with them and can beat them.  About Monahans I'm sure they are good just didn't impress me with size or athletic ability.  With that said say what u want about my comments.  Make fun of me, but I have been around football awhile and have coached at the high school level.  What's ur background?
10. I have a question for Scooter.  Have you even seen Coldspring play this year?  You live in West Texas so I don't know if you have seen them play.  I watched the first half film of Brownwood and Monahans and I was not impresses at all.  Monahans really did not have much with the exception of the running back ran hard and the quarterback was ok.  They had no secondary.  The offensive line had to be one of the smallest I have seen.  I would like to see some of the recent game against Carthage so I can make a better judgement.  I still believe deep down we can beat Carthage.
11. In 1992 we made it to the state title game behind the emotion of playing for our beloved coach Ed Peveto.  We lost to a South Lake Carrol team that probably should have never been in 3A.  I was in seventh grade at that time.  I dreamed that one day I could help Coldspring bring a title home.  In 1996 we made it to the Semi-Finals against Sealy amidst their record run of titles.  We lost that day, but we should have won.  I was a Junior on that team.  Here we are present day.  I know deep in my heart this is the Trojans turn to bring a title home to our little spot by the lake north of Houston.  I know Carthage is good and deserves all the respect of a two time defending champ.  I firmly believe though we will unseat them as champions and place ourselves in the history books as the 2010 class 3A DivisionII State Champions.  As for those that thought Brownwood and Carthage this week was the true state title game,  I would have to disagree.  The true title game will be next Friday between Coldspring and Carthage.

Here an article I found about the Wimberley QB.

I read this article it was very interesting.  I was shocked he was a big time linebacker for Aledo.  I'm sure he don't mind lowering his head and letting someone have it.  I think this going to be a great game.  I hope we can make it to Dallas so I can go watch.  I have work during this one.  I plan to go watch practice tomorrow though to see how focused we are.
