  1. appleorange - your message indicates inches. Do you mean inches or feet around Irving / WO-S area?
  2. I still have a few family members over there trying to decide what they will do. I'm sure hoping our area comes out good in this one. Looks promising so far, but, it did last time until "late in the game", also. Let's hope for the best. Everybody stay close to the information loop.....
  3. It's official..... Deon and Earl named starters..... Go Mustangs......
  4. Simply stated, this is not the West Orange-Stark that we attended. WO-S was the GLORY OF THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE... Absolutely not to be debated. THAT West Orange-Stark doesn't exist anymore. Football is still "a cut above". This is not your daddy's oldsmobile and never will be again.... That is a shame......
  5. Merry Christmas to the area the "lives for friday night football" - the Golden Triangle. Our proud heritage from our little section of Texas is simply what the posters on this board know so well: friday night football in southeast Texas is a culture!!!! Merry Christmas from the original wosmustangs (not to be confused with the new one that has imitated my name)..... A very SPECIAL Christmas greeting to ANYONE from southeast Texas that is in a foreign land protecting our freedom and way of life!!!! Godspeed to you..... and may the Christ child who grew up to be our saviour, be everpresent in your days until you return to Southeast Texas.....
  6. I see on the thread that was locked, someone has borrowed my wosmustangs name by putting a space between wos and mustangs. Oh well, just another Stang and that's a good thang. I want to say that I am very proud of the season the Mustangs just completed. I promise you that I HURT when we lose. NEVER did I imagine we would have the Silver Season we just had. We FAR exceeded what MOST (practically ALL) said we would achieve. I credit that to a GREAT coaching STAFF and to some young 'Stangs that understand committment by participating in the well-documented / spoken about - CORNEL THOMPSON Off SEASON. 2007 will be remembered as the year we truly showed we "don't rebuild, we just simply re-load". I hope that someday in the near future, we can actually play well into December and win a State Title AGAIN. I hope this very badly for Dan Ray Hooks as well as some great coaches...... I will love the Mustangs 'till the day I die and WILL be buried in Mustang-Attire!!!!! I'm proud of each Mustang player for showing what it's like to be a 'STANG.......
  7. Well, we've had a bitter taste in our mouths for close to a year. We get a shot again at the Buffs. Competition steps up now and this 'aint Bartles and James we are playing now. Week sisters are dribbling balls now....... Tell EVERYONE you know to get their tail to the game and be early and be LOUD. These kids deserve a HUGE crowd. They have exceeded what many predicted. We are 10-1 and have a shot at soothing a little pain from last time..... Go Mustangs!!!!!
  8. It's the time of year you look forward to. You anticipate seeing the playoff brackets and YOUR team. Here's hoping for a great run this year in the playoffs for the West Orange-Stark Mustangs. Playoffs and the Mustangs seem so natural. NEVER take it for granted. We all want to talk so badly about Giddings but YOU better concern yourself with Coldspring and Coldspring only. Huffman should be a good reminder that playoff teams come in all on a clean slate and you must win the scoreboard to advance. NOONE is given a free pass based on history and what SHOULD happen. Let's go Mustangs!!!!! Good Luck Southeast Texas and especially Lumberton..... Great season. Win that first playoff game.....
  9. The boy is getting OOOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDDDDDD. Happy Birthday Bocephus....... Sweet 16 was many moons ago......
  10. I tried to say last year on the WO-S message board after the Giddings game that bashing a high school coach on a public forum like this is simply way overboard. No matter how you feel about a local coach, he should not be humiliated like this - especially by the Local Newspaper. If you are at UT and making the $$$ that Mack Brown makes, THEN, I can understand. Not at WO-S - a place where many boys have become men thanks to the likes of our coaches...... I don't like losing, either. I further dislike what is being done to Randy Crouch in the local press. He is a high school football coach dedicated to helping young men.
  11. The '87 Mustangs pounded the #2 ranked West Columbia team 30-6, also.....
  12. Last time I saw Duhon was in '92. I interviewd him for a Sales job. Haven't really heard his name much for a while........
  13. I have 1963 thru 2006. Yep, I will get 2007. I've held the 1960 one but I didn't buy it at the time. I visited with Dave Campbell in his office in 1993 about his memories of doing the first one at his kitchen table with his wife Edith. His "piddling around" turned into something each of us look forward to. There are times it has some "isues" (no pun intended), but it is still the best. Pushing to get it on the sreet sooner and sooner, causes the problems, IMO. We will all see who the Cover Boy will be............. Predictions? I say Colt McCoy or possibly Todd Dodge with North Texas (or a mix).
  14. Not to offend anyone and their opinion, but, the '66 BC team is their best ever. Worster was the NUMBER 1 recruit in the entire nation coming out of high school that year. Imagine the media hype should that would have been around BC should the "information age" been around then. BC demolished a very good McKinney team 30-6 in the Title game. McKinney had only given up a few points all year long. To mention another BC team over this one is simply foolish. Worster was a man among boys and had a pretty solid supporting cast. I wish BC people (and others) would quit comparing other BC squads against this one unfairly. That BC team was the best by far - for any Cardinal team. Just because it was in 1966, don't forget them!!!!!
  15. COOP, no work on Monday and Tuesday so far. Breaks my heart. You see, there is something to smile about - Snowing outside and taking pictures. If I had Superman's arm, I'd throw fairly-sized snowball towards Giddings.....
  16. I know that each has his own opinion. However, this is simply not a debate. Like I said, I loved Deon but do not EVER compare him to Vince. Put Deon at QB behind the same OL and supporting cast as Vince........ And it's still NO discussion. Same as this thread. End of discussion.
  17. Andy Griffin came from White Oak. After leaving BC, we went to Georgetown.
  18. Kicker, go see Barry and Texas High tonight at Texas Stadium.... I can't bring myself to go two exits up the highway tonight and watch Giddings - Waco La itdon'tmatter....
  19. Micah had a great senior year. However, FOR ME, this is not even close. He is not anywhere near Jamaal - not on the same planet. To me, it's like saying "Who do you pick for your high school team, Deon Beasley or Vince Young"? I love Deon Beasley to death and the kid has been in my home several times - don't compare him to Vince, though. That's about the way I would answer Micah and Jamaal. Just simply my opinion....
  20. Baddog, the safeties are all in the box at the goal-line there is hardly any reason to worry about getting beat. With the field being "shortened", there is a ton of folks breathing down on the line of scrimmage. Snap it and lunge forward. Elementary....... Yes, this is a VERY hard loss to take because I KNOW the better team did not win. Period. Not being a sore loser - it's just obvious.....
  21. Well, I guess we shall see in Humble now won't we?: 3A Second-Round Breakdowns 11/22/2006 Division I Did we say something about this being Gilmer's bracket to lose? Well, they lost it, and now this field is pretty wide open, with Texarkana Liberty-Eylau suddenly the team to beat. Below, TexasFootball.com breaks down every second-round game. EA Subscribers: click here to get additional picks and point spreads REGION I REGIONAL SEMIFINALS PICKS: Fort Stockton (7-3) vs. Andrews (4-7): The Panthers had a bye week to prepare for Andrews, who edged two-win Levelland on a last-minute field goal in their Bi-district matchup. Fort Stockton cures its turnover problem and rolls by Andrews. Canyon (9-2) vs. Wylie (9-2): With a big win over undefeated Decatur last week, Wylie has momentum on its side and will run straight at Canyon, who allowed a pair of 100-yard rushers in their first-round matchup against WF Hirschi. Quarterback Gary Edwards leads Wylie past Canyon with another impressive performance after rushing for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns against Decatur. This one, though, will be closer than you think. REGION II REGIONAL SEMIFINALS PICKS: Royse City (10-1) vs. Kennedale (8-3): After allowing 337 passing yards in the second half of their Bi-district contest against Dallas Roosevelt, Kennedale is outmatched. Royse City quarterback Richard Morrison, who passed for three scores in a first-round win over Prosper, propels Royse City over Kennedale. Chapel Hill (6-5) vs. Liberty-Eylau (8-3): A shocking victory over top-ranked Gilmer in the opening round has Liberty-Eylau primed for a state title run. Chapel Hill finds it difficult to contain tailback LaMichael James, and Liberty-Eylau easily glides to the Regional Finals. REGION III REGIONAL SEMIFINALS PICKS: Robinson (8-2) vs. Palestine (9-2): Robinson’s high scoring offense faces Palestine’s shutdown defense. This is one of the harder games to pick, but a great defensive effort will lead Palestine over Robinson. Silsbee (9-2) vs. Columbia (7-4): Columbia is a much-improved team from what it was at the start of the season. The Roughnecks won its Bi-district game 26-12 over Bellville, a team they lost to by 29 points in the second game of the season. Columbia continues to rise and downs Silsbee behind a strong rushing performance from Jared Flannel. REGION IV REGIONAL SEMIFINALS PICKS: La Vernia (8-3) vs. Pleasanton (6-5): A pair of standout quarterbacks duel in a high-scoring game that is likely decided by the better quarterback. La Vernia’s Cory Baker has a slight advantage over Pleasanton’s Niko Salinas, and Baker leads La Vernia to a close victory. Ingleside (10-1) vs. La Feria (7-3): Ingleside needs to score enough points to compensate for a vulnerable defense, which should not be a problem. Ingleside’s offense proves too much and outscores La Feria in a shootout. Division II: Below, TexasFootball.com breaks down every second-round game. REGION I AREA PICKS: Monahans (9-1) vs. Snyder (8-2): The Monahans defense has allowed only 19 points in its last six games, and the Lobos enjoyed a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Monahans will beat Snyder for the second time this season and advance to the Regional Semifinals. Vernon (6-5) vs. Sweetwater (9-2): Quarterback Duone Cunning led a heavy rushing attack for Sweetwater in its Bi-district win over Argyle. Vernon will not be able to hold off Sweetwater, which set a school record in rushing yards last week. Clint (9-1) vs. Midland Greenwood (10-1): Clint is the benefactor of a bye week following a big win over Fort Stockton. Clint will stop Greenwood’s rushing game to score an upset with a defense that excels at creating turnovers. Graham (6-5) vs. Sanger (9-2): Quarterback Nathan Pegues dominated Clyde in Sanger’s Bi-district victory with four touchdowns. Pegues and Sanger roll past Graham with a running attack that few teams have been able to stop. REGION II AREA PICKS: Madison (10-0) vs. Celina (11-0): Madison running back Shawnbrey McNeal is dangerous and can win games, but Celina has an edge on defense with a group that has not allowed more than 10 points in the last nine games. Pleasant Grove (4-7) vs. Canton (7-4): Running back Sam Buker, who scored twice in Canton’s Bi-district win over Crandall, adds to a productive offense. Pleasant Grove’s luck runs out against Canton. Lake Worth (8-3) vs. Pilot Point (7-4): With a shocking upset over Emory Rains, Pilot Point gets revenge over Lake Worth , who won the meeting between the two teams by one point on Sept. 8. Atlanta (5-6) vs. Brownsboro (8-3): Brownsboro totaled 302 rushing yards in its first-round win over Kaufman. Ricco Richards scored one of the Bears’ two special teams touchdowns. Brownsboro should get past Atlanta, who defeated a weak Gladewater team in the first round. REGION III AREA PICKS: La Vega (9-2) vs. Rusk (8-3): Brothers Kourtney and Chris Parr combined for five touchdowns in La Vega’s Bi-district win over Cameron Yoe. The tandem should lead La Vega over Rusk, which needed an overtime and Justin Sturns heroics to beat Madisonville last week. West Orange-Stark (11-0) vs. Giddings (11-0): This matchup is a push. A pair of undefeated teams and high-scoring offenses should battle to the end. Orange-Stark is more balanced on offense with a dangerous playmaker in wide receiver Earl Thomas. But Giddings has the No. 1 playmaker in Class 3A with quarterback Brock Fitzhenry, who is fresh off a six-touchdown performance against Wharton in the first round. Fitzhenry propels Giddings over Orange-Stark with some late-game heroics. Liberty Hill (8-2) vs. Crockett (7-4): Liberty Hill features an offense that is among the best in Class 3A, while Crockett is strong defensively with four shutouts this season. Running backs Doug Allman and Brent Bode lead Liberty Hill past Crockett. Kirbyville (7-4) vs. Sweeny (9-2): Sweeny is currently on a nine-game winning streak and beat a tough La Grange team, 31-7, in the first round. Sweeny wins with defense and blanks Kirbyville to advance. REGION IV AREA PICKS: Wimberley (10-1) vs. Medina Valley (8-3): Quarterback Ricky Beatty is versatile and wins games for Wimberley. Medina Valley scored a big Bi-district win over Devine, but Wimberley proves too much for Medina Valley to handle. Cuero (11-0) vs. Rio Hondo (10-1): Among the best Area-round matchups. Cuero has played consistent all season, and quarterback Kyle Noack will edge Rio Hondo and send Cuero to the Regional Semifinals. Llano (7-4) vs. Hondo (11-0): Hondo has scored more than 60 points in four of its last six games, and the Owls rout Llano in a surprisingly one-sided game. Orange Grove (10-1) vs. Port Isabel (9-2): Port Isabel features an efficient running game while riding a nine-game winning streak. Port Isabel continues its impressive season with a win over Orange Grove.
