  1. Even as poorly as the Mustangs played, they still were in position to win this game at the end. They really need to fix their red zone offense fast. They get inside the ten and lose their minds. Every game this year, when inside the 10 yard line, they get stupid penalties and fumbled snaps. The coaches need to step up and make better calls in those situations as well. When things aren't going as planned, they seem to always just put Franks or Haynes @ QB, as if everyone in the stadium doesn't know that it is a keeper. They can't come up with a decent play, so they just hope and pray that one of their athletes can bail them out. This has worked over the years, but it always fails when the other team has just as many athletes as we do. Also, I don't think that the stars on this team has the heart that the stars of past has had. In the past, you knew who was getting the ball in pressure situations, but they still seemed to make the plays. This group of stars seem to fail under those pressure situation, by either fumbling the snap, slipping, dropping passes, etc. This post has nothing to do with Jasper. They played excellent. I am just pointing out some of WOS problems. As much as I hate to say this, but these are the intangibles of the game, and either you got em or you don't. I am not so sure that these blunders can be corrected. You can not fix heart.
  2. New Indian, I need the #'s on these kids who were double teaming a player that we could have easily blocked one on one. No need in wasting a double team on a kid who is clearly not going to make the tackle. The only kid on PNG's side that we needed to double team was #44. He made nearly every tackle. We had 2 plays where I quarterback dropped the ball, picked it up, then score. If your son was getting in the backfield from the noseguard position, then surely he should have made those plays. You could not have watched the same game as everyone else did. The second half went by in about 10 minutes with the running clock (they even ran it thru a timeout at the end of the game), and if not for that we would have put up 40 points easily. I respect the heck out of Coach LeJuene, but I feel sorry for him having to deal with a parent like you. I don't get on here and brag, because he admittedly told me at the beginning of the year that this would be a down year for them. He told me his weaknesses (young), and told me his strengths, and not once did he mention his noseguard as being a playmaker. We have watched ya'll play twice, and I have yet to see your kid make a tackle. You need to get a grip, and BE REAL. Not trying to trash the kid, but his dad is an idiot.
  3. Good to know that my Mustangs are still the measuring stick of SETX football, even as young as we are. Many WOS fans have said all year that we are young, and need lots of work. To hear statements like we made it close with WOS, we can compete with anybody in the state is funny to me. WOS played an awful game, and still won. Hats off to Kirbyville coaches for having their team prepared and confident. Most teams WOS play seem to be intimidated from the start. Good luck on the rest of your season. At this point, yes, WOS is overrated. They are too young, and not quite physical enough to be the #3 team in the state. Yes, they do have the potential and the playmakers to reach that level, but they are not there yet. We as WOS fans just have the confidence that our coaches will get them to playing at the highest level possible by district time. That is why we schedule the way we do. We battle test them early, to see where we need work. Toby really need to get off of the sideline and into the press box. An O-Coord does not need to be around all of the excitement, because they get too caught up in it. Plus, you can see more from the box. Just my opinion, and he is my friend, and I will call him and voice my opinion to him as well. WOS will be fine.
  4. Sportsnut, I am the head coach for the WOS Junior White team, and I can assure you that we are not over confident. Confident, YES, but not overconfident. We respect every opponent, and prepare the same for all games. Even in games when we know we are going to win by 50, I have never let our boys let their guards down. I scare them into thinking that the opponent has improved and that we are in for a dog fight. Even when we were up by 40 at halftime in week one, I told my boys that the opponent can score 40 in the second half just as we did in the first, even though I knew that they had done packed it in. So don't think that we are over confident because of a few comments made on this board. I think it's just smack talk, and the kids don't read this board. One thing that makes PNG, Ned, Lum, and WOS successful is the preparation and dedication from their coaches. We will be prepared every week. You see, we battle test our kids in practice, that is why we are confident. I truly believe that with the talent that we have, as long as we execute and stay healthy, then we should be a favorite to win it all. However, these are 9 & 10 year old kids, so you never know. Good Luck to all. WOS Junior White #1.
  5. Supposed to be BAADDDD Weather. Muddy fields will slow down speed. The more physical team will win. With that I am picking WOS White by 13.
  6. Evenly matched teams, but I think WOS has some kinda curse on Silsbee. lol They always find a way to blow it in the end. At least the last few years, they have. Go STANGS
  7. Has to be Thomas for WOS on defense. He had 3 picks against a good Nederland team, with one of the top QB's in the area. He made several tackles as well. A little BEAST in run support. Did I mention that he's only a Sophmore.
  8. I would say that YES, they work harder. I know people that have transferred to other area schools from WOS, and they agree that WOS prepares much harder and have a higher level of discipline than other area schools. Not to mention a few of my friends who have played D-1 ball, and a few who have gone pro, has said that WOS practices and offseason workouts are more strenuous than any level they have played on. You see, that's the pride and joy of WOS football. That's why you see them holding up their 4 fingers high at the beginning of the fourth quarter, because they believe that they are in better shape and have prepared much harder for this situation, and that endurance and heart will take over in the clutch. It is wut it is.
  9. New Indian, I have to disagree with the statement that Jr. White beat ya'll with only KJ. What about the 11 kids on that stifling defense that held an explosive PNG White team to only one touchdown. Yes, KJ had two big runs, but our defense played outstanding all day long. I agree that DL is a very good coach who always has his players prepared and fired up. He doesn't need extra motivation from this board saying that he has a target on his back. We will see this year, since we no longer have KJ. I believed that WOS White would have won in a rematch last year as well, and we wanted to see that badly. Ya'll won 2-0 in a game that our backup QB was seeing extensive action for the first time in two years, since KJ had just gone down a week before, and Jack had sat out the year before. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, I know. Just saying, it took a huge effort on ya'll part to beat us 2-0 in by far the worst game that we played all season.
  10. Not to mention that in recent years they have won that very WEAK 3A district easily, and have also beaten the district champion of the also very WEAK 4A district that ozen and central plays in. We beat Dayton every year that they DOMINATED yall's district. WOS don't get to pick their district opponents, but they do get to pick preseason games, and as you can see they don't back down from no competion. They always choose to play and scrimmage the powerhouses from higher classifications, and usually do pretty well. Where have you been finest? Everyone knows that WOS is the OFFICIAL Measuring Stick of Southeast Texas football, much like Ozen's basketball team. Not taking anything from any other team, but every coach in this area feels that if you can beat WOS, you have a good chance against anyone. It is what it is. Good Luck to all.
  11. Yes, he did make that wonderful catch. He has the talent, he just have to put it all together. I think he will. WOS coaches will see to it. I have heard from a reliable source that he will play a lot of RB. If this happens, I think he will break out big time, and everyone will finally see what the PAID scouts have seen all along. All he need is the touches.
  12. I am a WOS fan through and through, but I have to agree. I have seen this kid play for the last two years, and yes he is a good athlete, but when you are being recruited by teams like Florida, Oklahoma, etc., then to me you should be a very dominant player on the 3A level. He only had about 20 touches last year. I thought Franks stood out more, myself. Haynes did show flashes, as he seemed to drop the easy passes, but pull in the miraculous ones. He's just not there yet. In fact, being recruited so high, one would expect you stand out to the point, that it is no doubt that you are the best athlete on the field. I have seen many superstars play live, and no one had to tell me their number or who they were, they just stood out. Take Beasley, Christine, Earl, Jamal, and other stars for instance. They just seemed to be in another gear out there. I agree that he has the potential, but he have not peaked yet. For Florida to think that you are a great athlete is saying a whole lot for this young man. I hope all of this publicity motivates him, and helps him get over the hump and become the dominant player that he's capable of being. That would be great for my Mustangs.
  13. As much as I don't want this to happen, but my money is on Oklahoma. I know the Franks family very well, and Trey has lots of family, including his grandparents residing in OK, near Norman. This is one of the few teams that have offered to both of them, so that makes it a strong possibility. Although, I hope they stay in Texas, preferably UT.
  14. Greater St. Paul Church, the old Jones Elementary School, where we practice at. We will be in the back, same place as last year.
  15. Earl Thomas was the starting point guard for WOS basketball team his junior year, when they went to state. He was the starting RB and DB, when they lost to Wimberly in the region 3 finals in football, and also his senior year they lost to Waco La Vega. Not to mention he starred in baseball, and won a gold medal at state in track on the relay team. 4 sport letterman, and big time in all of them.
  16. Paul Thomas from WOS was pretty good. There was also a kid from Central a few years ago that eventually went to camp with the 49ers. I think he played outside LB at Central, but I can not think of his name. He was and still is a monster though.
  17. Gayron Allen was very impressive at WOS, although I cant remember when he graduated. I think he actually graduated in 2000. Anyway, he got a national championship ring while at Oklahoma.
  18. You may be right TD, I think you need to put in next time as well.
  19. You are correct, the people that didn't get out and vote, can no longer complain. It was close and they could have made a difference. Every vote counts. Another thing that I think hurt Guillory was the late entry of Mrs. Bellfield, I think that she swayed some of the votes that would have gone his way. People in Orange are just so familiar with her name, because of her past political positions. It is a shame, a change was really needed. I just hope that the current school board members don't try to ruin athletics even more, because of the KFDM interview with the track coach and kids.
  20. Dickie V, add Big Shot Billups to that list of point guards as well.
  21. I have been told that we will see Franks at QB a lot next year, in certain packages.
  22. Earl gets my vote, with Robert Joseph a close 2nd. It is really ashame that he couldn't get his life together. He was definitely on his way to playing on Sundays. By the way, Beasley is the one who didn't play much defense his senior year, as he was the starting QB, and spot DB in certain situations. Jermaine Hope (Tulsa Grad) was the best cover corner WOS has had since Kevin Smith, but Earl was a bigger hitter and playmaker.
