  1. Congrats Dre'. This is a good pickup by LU. I know this kid personally, and he has tremendous drive and work ethic. LU just picked up a fan in the process. I always said that if they get some local talent that I would support them. So I give my verbal commitment to be there as a fan.LOL
  2. Hey Dragon, I do root for all of the Lil Mustangs. I have family on the Blue Team, as well as some of my ex-players. Their are a lot of things that went on before the season started that ya'll are not aware of. Yes we did have a draft, and one of the kids I had was taken off my team against my will, because his dad supposedly wanted to coach for Blue. Funny thing is, I haven't seen him out there in weeks. This kid is very good, but I will not mention his name. Let's just say he is a solid running back, defensive back, and his dad is a Mustang Legend. But anyway we had some kids step up and replace him. For the record, we have about 7 players out of 21, who has never played before this year, including one kid who is quite possibly our best defensive player. Ask anyone who knows me, if we don't make it to the Super Bowl and ya'll do, I will be one of ya'll biggest fans and supporters. I think that ya'll coaching staff has done a good job in getting some late bloomers up to speed, and developing their skills, but let's not get carried away and act as if ya'll were terrible and had no chance and was not supposed to be as good as ya'll are. Yes, I said it ya'll are very good. In fact, I have said all along that ya'll were the team to beat.
  3. Why do you say that ya'll were not supposed to be there, and we were. Remember we are the team with all 9 year olds. I see that not only the kids, but the parents as well bought in to the underdog roll that Prez. has been playing all year. Come on dude 10 LO's, most of the returning Juniors from last year, including the BEAST, not to mention a very good running back that ya'll took from us. Nobody's buying the humble, we are not supposed to be here crap. This is West Orange Stark, we are all supposed to be there, it's our tradition.
  4. So exactly how does the playoff seeding work when you have three divisions? I guess my real question is which WOS team will have PNG White in their bracket? Although I am sure that if our Prez. have anything to do with it, it will surely be the Junior White instead of Junior Blue. LOL ;) ;)
  5. Didn't want to take a chance with KJ turning the back flip, with him just returning from a broken hand, so i had to pull out my trump card. It was fun. It is going to be hard to get these kids pumped up for each other if we meet in the Super Bowl. They are all good friends and have respect for one another. This is going to be one very special group, if they stick with it and stay focused. It just make it so much harder for Hooks to retire, when he knows how good a group he has on the way. Keep the Mustang Tradition Alive. I am glad that I can have a hand in helping develop these future MUSTANGS. Thanks to all Lil Mustang coaches from flag, pee wee, junior, senior, and cheerleaders. You all deserve a pat on the back. Keep up the good work.
  6. They would probably be very successful playing the 4A teams in this area, but would run into serious depth problems once in the playoffs. Another thing to consider is that if they opted to play up, that would kill the other sports other than football. Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, Softball, everything would suffer, although i think they'll be fine in Football and Track.
  7. WOS White 22 Bridge City 0. Once the WOS Junior Blue and Junior White come together in Junior High School, this will be a very special group. Both teams play great defense. In my opinion, the Blue team is a little bit ahead on offense though. The White team has had several setbacks with injuries, but once they get that offense clicking, they will be a force. Our plan is to have both teams in the Super Bowl, and I think it is very possible if we can get past PNG White, they are tough as well.
  8. Well, I must say that the game was settled on the field, but everything that was said about both teams on this board proved to be true. Yes, both team are very good, and YES, Nederland does have just as much team speed as WOS. WOS won, but the Nederland boys don't have anything to hold their heads down about. They fought really hard, and that #22, and 25 can flat out fly. Also, #55 on defense is a beast. This team was well coached. I saw alot of things that you don't see much at this age, like trap blocking - that was very effective. I was also impressed by that kicker, I have never seen a kid kick that well in little league. Someone mentioned #4 for WOS, I agree he is good, but I was more impressed with the QB - #2. This kid is an absolute stud, and quite possibly the best kid in the league. WOS had there chances to pull away in the first half, but couldn't put it away. That fumbled snap on the 3 yard line hurt them bad. I think that another reason that this game stayed as close as it did was because for whatever reason WOS coaches did not call #2 number enough. If you were at the game then you know what I'm talking about. He made some big plays when they call his number, and more importantly he protected the ball. I think #4 was just tired when he fumbled in the fourth. Overall I was impressed with both teams and both coaching staffs. Very physical, hard hitting game from both sides. And when it was over and the kids went to shake hands, I could see that both teams had earned each others respect. I hope they meet in the playoffs. Good luck to both teams. Good game. Oh yeah, Nederland had about 8 timeouts in that fouth quarter. LOL. Please get those kids off of the clock next time. They almost started a riot. LOL
  9. The kid that wears #4 for the Pee Wee Mustangs comes from a long line of athletes in his family. He has two brother who played for this league the last few years, and they were phenoms as well. One of them also wore #4 as well as their dad when he played. This kid started on both sides of the ball for us last year as a 7 year old. He is very aggressive, fast, tough as nails, and has a non stop motor. If they had played him up, I believe that he is good enough to star for our Junior Team.
  10. As far as the kids that you saw with cast on their arms, they should be back in about three more weeks. We have had a lot of bad luck with broken bones this season. I have never seen anything like this before. We have had 3 broken hands, and 1 broken arm in this very short season so far. One of the kids was KJ Miller, who I am sure everyone on this board is familiar with, the other kid was a first year player who was really coming into his own, and had became a two way starter only to break his hand in practice the same week. KJ broke his hand in a scrimmage that didn't even count, that sucks.... The other kid who broke his hand has had his cast removed and is back at practice, but we have to be extra careful with him, because you know how those bones are after they have been broken once. All of these broken hand come from helmets, while making tackles. The kid who broke his arm, broke it in two places. It was kind of a freak accident, with no contact except for him hitting the ground. We found out later that he had already broken the same arm before. He is out for the season. To the other coaches and parents on this board, I wish you good luck and health to all of your players and kids, and I pray that we can get some kids healthy and prevent any more broken bones.
  11. I want to start off by saying, Good game PNG White. This was a very physical and well coached team that we ran into today. However, please don't count the WO-S Junior Team out, because of the results of this game. You talk as if we were eliminated from the playoffs today. The season is still long, and once we get some kids healthy, we will be a force again. Not making excuses, because like I said PNG White is a strong team, we knew that coming in and respected them from day 1, but when you have 5 kids (4 starters) out in a big game like this you will feel it. There is not much quality depth at this age. We do have other weapons, but when you lose that many kids, the healthy ones get forced to play out of position. KJ is quite possibly one of the most talented kids in the entire league, and if any team loses a player of his caliber, they will struggle. He is our quaterback, and anyone that knows anything about football could see that we were out of sinc because of his abscense. That happens to any team when the QB goes out, especially since he has had the job for 3 years and counting. He will be back, and our other kids can go back to there original positions, and then you will see the real WOS White team. I think that the kids we have filling in did a good job to keep us in position to win. We just couldn't get our timing together, and way too many bad snaps, so the chips fell your way this time. You can say what you want to say on this board, but I know a few of PNG coaches, and I am sure that they will agree. I am also sure that they know that they will have to see us again in the playoffs. I don't want this to seem like I am taking anything away from PNG White, because they played a good game. Their coaches always have them prepared, and they do a good job. This battle has been on since flag football, and it has turned into a rival that I really enjoy. Coach LeJune, and the rest of PNG staff, keep teaching those boys good football, and we guarantee to give you one heck of a game everytime we meet up. Our goal coming into the season over at WOS was to have both of our Junior teams in the Super Bowl, and that is still the plan.
  12. I heard Stelly say that Gloston got hurt. Can someone please give some info. on the injury? This would be a huge lost, he is blazin fast and our best cover man.
  13. The purpose of a scrimmage is to work on a few things, try some new things, look at some new players, try a few kids in different positions. In other words, you keep referring to the results of scrimmages, in which it's quite possible that a coach saw it more important to look at a few on the bubble players, instead of letting his already proven workhorses run up and down the field. I put no stock at all in scrimmages. Hell, some of the players who played significant roles in the scrimmages are playing JV ball right now. So please stop with the we beat them and they beat ya'll stuff, it it ignorant. The game is won on the field, not on a message board.
  14. WOS Junior White 34 Woodville 6
  15. Quinny little brother name is Rodrick Simmons. He has a ton of talent as well, and if he sticks with it and fight his way back on varsity then he will be another big time weapon for the Mighty Mustangs. I have a feeling that we will see him on varsity in a few weeks. He had a silver helmet last year, but they are punishing him for quitting and not going through spring ball. He'll bounce back though. I think our JV squad can beat at least half the varsity teams in our district. They are very good.
  16. The schedules are up on the website. stjfl.net
  17. WOS Junior White has practice today and tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's game in Woodville.
  18. This really screws Garrett, who has told me personally that he is after his brothers record. He would have at least been good for 400 yard on the ground against the Bears. LOL. This will set him back a little, so I really feel sorry for their next opponent, beacause he will have to make up the missed game against them. Thanks Moody.
  19. 26-13, Nederland put together a great drive. That Cardneas kid is having a good game. Sounds like WOS secondary needs a little work.
  20. OK, thought you were someone else. Hey, that Gardenas kid must be fast to keep getting behind Ghloston, and Haynes. Those two guys are speedsters.
  21. How did WOS get the ball back and score so fast? I missed something.
  22. Wuz up Scooter. Is this my redhead classmate Scooter?
  23. Every year WOS is loaded with speed, speed, speed, but yet they do those stupid pooch kickoffs as if they are afraid of the return man. They do this against everyone, and give up field position over and over. I think if they would kick it deep, with all of that speed getting down there, they could pin a lot of teams deep and really put pressure on opposing offenses. Just my opinion!!!
