There is also a recent tradition at PNG that the outgoing RB mentors the next in line on how to prepare both mentally and physically to play the position. It started with Wright showing Harmon how to get stronger in the offseason to prepare for the pounding a PNG RB both takes and dishes out. Then Harmon to Burtrand and now Burtrand to Halfin. It's something they take pride in passing on. If you noticed with both Chase and Brant how much stronger they got in the legs each year.

Halfin's numbers could drop a bit this year, but only because he may get fewer carries early in games. Cropper should be healthy this year and should see the field more. I imagine in the first half you'll see more rotation of backs, with a fresh Halfin carying the load in the second half.

Halfin's carries may be lower, but having fresh second half legs could mean better YPC and just as many yards than 2013.

I'd be shocked if Randle didn't come close to leading district in rushing. Sounds like Ozen will feature him this year in a run heavy offense.

Just an honest opinion, on Halfin. He doesn't hit the holes hard enough, does too much pitter pat dancing. He would be more dangerous if he just blasted thru . Not harping on him but once he makes up his mind where he is going he can cover some ground quickly. We are lucky to have him there by all means, bu sharing time with Cropper should keep him fresh all thru the game and hopefully keep both of them healthy and injury free. We have had several good RBs the last couple of years. It has to do with the coaching and style of offense Faircloth is Running. It looked like in the allstar game this past week, the running game was churning up some yardage. Was it a jasper Rb that was tearing it up? Why not ask him how he liked the offensive scheme coming from an actual player not from PNG. You could arguably take any RB from another school and with out a doubt have the leading rusher. Take for example Duaphine from Memorial, Bring him to PNG and I would promise you he would have 2500 plus yards in one season. We don't have the biggest are the fastest or the strongest kids out there, but they put in their hard work and with the coaching the offense strives. Not Taking anything away from Halfin or Cropper. They will be successful and so will PNG.

This camp stuff is really eye opening. Recruiters ask for film, we give it; ask to come to camp we appear. Not only did he show up he performs very well on both sides, runs good times; Nothing. I don't know what else he can do for these guys. Working for that offer
A School I won't mention asked him to come to camp & perform again Lol
What the Hell have you been watching the past few hours Coach?? He just showed you

I'm partial to Randle for certain reasons :P
Make no mistake; Halfin is a stud and deserves all the preseason hype bestowed upon him. I'm a fan because the kid clock's in & out of work. No flash, just does his job with not much being said, yet he balanced that Indian offense.  Our District is tough & hard to predict, so as usual I look forward to another down to the wire race. good luck old 20 4A foes

not an A&M fan, but to be in the SEC how could he not  withdraw his commitment and go to A&M. Whoever gets him will be blessed with a great athlete. Speed kills, I can see some records go down if they let him carry the rock!!!! Glad PAM is 6A, he would surely wreck shop in 5A!

THE 99-00 TEAM was as well balanced a team that I have probably ever watched play. the linebackers were undersized but when they blitzed which is something I haven't really seen a lot of these days from us, they Hit the holes and wrecked shop. I believe if im not mistaken it was Boudiun, lang , clark. Golke played safety and had baxter at cornerback(also played backup running back and could easily have been the starter had we not had the two starters in the backfield already). We had depth at every position. was fun to watch them. Golke was one of the hardest hitting safeties to step foot on Defense. When we played Lamarque he damn near killed one of their wide receivers, he could have intercepted the ball, but chose to send the kid off the field on a stretcher. that just set the tone for the game. My favorite game of that year was playing Then ranked #9 Nederland. It was at the Reservation and Nederland fell 31-8. The only team to beat us in Regular season play was of course WOS and it went down to the wire. Shurtz- clemmons had a hell of a team. we faced them in the semifinals and it went down to the final drive with Dustin Long taking control after pretty much being held in check all game. The Defense like you said kept us in games when the offense was lagging which wasn't too often that year! That was a fun ride. The Briles kid was unbelievable he took it to a whole new level in the finals, just utter jawdropping moves everywhere on the field.

im not gonna hate on WOS. I have nothing but respect for them, they have small numbers but still bring most teams to the woodshed every year. I was tickled pink when we got the W this year against them. WE play them at their home this year should be a damn good game. Glad we have them on the schedule. It will do nothing but make us better and prepare us for district. Obviously this dude has had his teams butt handed to them by WOS and he is still bitter, poor lil baby lol

I don't know how y'all do it in Chester, but at WOS, the goal is state. Yes, we've gotten to the regional finals the last 3 years and lost (twice to the eventual state champion). However, because we are WOS, state is always a part of our conversation. People can hate all they want. But I don't see another team on this site talking about state. They would rather hate on the WOS fans for talking about it.

I don't have nothing to do with this argument, but honestly I cant see HJ getting a W against WOS. Just curious though where are they playing this year? Not that it matters, I'm assuming that it will be in HJ?

you beat me to the punch PNGFAN. HALFIN and Cropper have an outstanding chance if the offensive line can take care of business and Morse can stay consistent  with his passing game. I can see Morse running the wild Indian in goal line situations. He has good size and isn't scared of a little contact! I can almost promise you PAM will accomplish this they are deep this year at Running back. Vidor could possibly do this too. That is all they do is run, run, run! IF Vidor ever passed the ball 15 times a game they could surprise some people.

why is everyone crying about trash talking? every team does it, it isn't a surprise to me at all. I  know PNG got kicked out last years tournament with the skirmish with GCM. I myself know that when PNG played Manvel I saw my team do some things that had I been a coach I would have kicked him off the team, but not knowing what is going on in the trenches and being said, all I can do is speculate. In that game I watched a lineman for us pancake one of the marker umpires , and  on another play kick a manvel player dead square in his jewels. I could nt believe what I saw and the sad thing is it did happen. Im quite sure there is a lot of jawing going on . would love to have players from both sides miked up just to hear how innocent all of our kids are. im sure there would be some serious beat downs by all of us parents. Now as far as friendly smack talk, last year with the twins they were the better team I don't deny that. knew it before we ever played a down. That was last year, this year it has been very interesting in both games we played with PNG on top. Been saying all along I want to meet Crosby in the playoffs with all that D1 talent and return the favor from last year. Seems to me that we are very evenly matched as to personnel.  With that being said, Friday night football cant get here soon enough. I can rest assured you every team has that bad apple, no one is perfect, so why point the fingers, its just 7 on 7. I don't expect the real jawing to come until they put the pads on.
