It was definitely Nac, we tore down the goalpost after the win and were banned from playing at Nac for about 10 years. lol
A vert special memory for me my grandfather took me to the game and Ive since lost him. He was a Silsbee graduate and really liked Newton. He lived at Sam Rayburn near Plum Ridge and went to a few Newton games. He was a standout on the 1943 and 44 Silsbee basketball teams. He had a scholarship to Lamar and then 82 years ago yesterday happened and they cancelled Lamar basketball because of the war. He never got to play in college. Anyways I digress. It is one of my fondest memories watching Newton win state.

“They”…Liberty Hill parents, family, friends, community did not pick the venue. We were not consulted or asked or anything, until the decision was made. I love the support and passion your community has. It should also be allowed to have any team buyh there side tickets without concern of the other side buying there side. I am not saying all PNG fans, but some did in fact post even before tickets went on sale, to buy on LH side. Again I am all for people watching their teams and made there needs to be UIL rules that take into account the average attendance and the playoff venues must support that on each side. I look forward to the game it will be a good one! May there be no injuries, fair calls, and all travelers be safe.
Thank you for the post. I will say this. From an inside source we had an offer on the table that would not of mattered and it was turned down by LH, Please understand I am in no way saying LH doesnt have a right to agree were to play or flip. I respect the gamenship. I know exactly what was said and that the venue that could have held everyone comfortable was turned down by LH. PNG is well known for their following, This goes all the way to the beginning when we were playing in the late 20s and early 30s and they had two hundred seat wooden stands and 6000 people would show up and sit in cars, lawn chairs, on blankets and so on to watch PNG. By the 30s they were in the10-1500 range. By the 50s the 20000 range and we all know about the 1970s. The real question is how does a small town the size of PNG set the all time attendance record? 5 of the top 10 attendance records in this wonderful state. Anyway best of luck LH and safe travels/

By the way we are building a PN-G library of football games on video, 8mm, or whatever you may have. We have already obtained games from the 1950's 1960's 1970's 1980s. 1990's 2000's. We only have a game or two of some of those decades. We actually have 2 games of PNGs all time leading rusher from 1955 Gordon LeBoeuf. If anyone is willing to share please message me.

Very interesting thread. I went to PNG schools for 10 years and then moved after the 10th grade. Always regretted it. Was a grade above Jeff The Jet.
Went to all the PNG state playoff games since then and all the PO games during the 70's run.
Been quite a while since I visited this site and pullin for dem NDN's. Go Tribe, scalp 'em !
Even got my Canadian born wife to go last year who doesn't even understand football much (hockey, yes, but only rudimentary football knowledge ... but she went crazy screamin' for the Purple and White).
Very impressed by the PNG passing game. And the HC has the pedigree!! They're obviously well coached.
One last note and Indian fans listen to me. The PNG teams of the 1970's were almost always undersized. Heck, the starting center in the state playoff game against Plane weighed in at a whopping 175 (Clint Lough). Technique and heart goes a long way toward winning. Size is important all things being equal but athleticism and desire can trump size.
Since you went you might enjoy this video.

I have nothing but respect for LH. Even spoke with the coach the week after the game. He was a very respectable and had much sportsmanship. He wished us the best and said he hoped we won it all. I am thankful for teams like LH who have and know what sportsmanship is. Last year after the final play a LH player laid on the field upset. Two Indians ran over and helped him up and hugged him. It was a beautiful thing. I have been told on here I am not the person who can determine what sportsmanship is that its subjective. I disagree. Sportsmanship is what it is. PNG and LH both have it. So does Brenham, and Dayton. Their are others just some on the top of my head.

Definitely mismatch in size . LH line are usually tuff and they don't always have to push the defensive player across from them back sometimes they just got to get in his way . If you watched the Pieper /LH game LH just kept hammering away right up the middle with the full back . They were happy to get 3 or so yds . I would see Pieper stop fb dead in his tracks and they would turn around run the same play . I was thinking run something different . But the hammer wore them out in the end . They we're able to run the final 5 and half minutes or so off the clock with 1st downs and a long run by fb Carter . PNG got some big lineman that look like they can endure quite a bit of hammering . It's going to be a tough night for the LH linemen .
PNG usually likes it when a team runs up the middle. Our three down linemen are 280, 270, 270.

Love watching the Indians and hope they make it to state again and win it this year. They are playing well
My only take after watching the 2nd half vs Huntsville is that the offensive lineman did not block very well , so the running game was poor that half well that half. They will have a size advantage vs LH, however they are going to have to block much better to get the running game going.
I did not see the 1st half, maybe they blocked better in that half
Maybe it was because they had the lead and Huntsville (credit to their defense) knew we were going to run most plays. Dont discount Huntsville's defense.

And they did a great job , better than the TexanLive feed which we lost several times and the announcers weren’t the best. Kudos to those kids on ndnpress 👏👏
I believe NDN Press reached over 7k online for this past week may have been 7.8k in the 4th. Many were from other areas. SOC, Huntsville, and people from all SETX schools for the most part. Even some special viewers like the old PNG coaches and historians. Wade Phillips was at the game rooting for his alma mater.

Most think it will definitely be tuff to win this week . But they always believe they will win . This yr we will have the 2 starting rbs that got knocked out last year in the game before we played PNG . Will they be enough to change the out come from last year ? I'm not sure . But LH has surprised teams before .
Welcome aboard. Great to have you. Always cool to see a member from the other sides thoughts. Glad to have you.

Defense. Something WOS taught me. Thats how you get to State.
LH has given up 476 points this season. PN-G has given u 214 for the whole season.
LH 34 PPG
PNG 15.2 PPG many of those on the 3rd and 4th against back ups.

Ty We sure were pulling for you. I went and watched you guys play for state way back in the 1998 with my grandfather (Lord Knows I miss him) in Nacogdoches. I thought is was Lufkin but so many years ago I guess it could have been Nac. Great Season Eagles looks like your trajectory is up.
