Must have been a good one. The ladies have much improved and congrats on a great season. Has your coach given any thought of requesting to play up instead of going DIV 2 next year. You sure will have some traveling to do in your new Division. Just wondering. I dont know what the enrollment at HI is but it would seem beneficial to request to play up because of cost. Plus I think you have a shot at playoffs in Div.1 next season. None of my business but we love going to the beach ;D

From what I've heard, H.I. is going to stay DII.  And from what their coach has said, they could make the playoffs in that division as well.  With all of the team returning next year (minus two seniors), they could do extremely well next year.  But it's off to softball for them now.

Who is second and third in this district for the playoffs?

Daisetta is in second,  High Island will be the third place team if they beat Spurger on Tuesday night.  If they lose, there will be a three way tie between H.I., Spurger and West Hardin for third
  4. Was probably the best that I've seen the H.I. girls play against Evadale, good job ladies.  And congrats to the Lady Rebs, back to back district champs that is hard thing to do sometimes.  Good luck to Evadale in the playoffs.  Has anyone heard any other scores from the district?  I know that the Tuesday game between Spurger and H.I. has a lot riding on it, from what the girls have said  third place on the line.  Good luck ladies.

I think that next year will be about the same for HI next year as far as the playoff picture goes.  Leggett and Goodrich will be solid, but 3rd should be wide open.  Just based on what I can tell.  The travel will be rough though.

3rd place won't matter next year only top 2 schools will make playoffs in 1A and 2A districts with the new D1 D2 alignment.

For football, in bball top three still make it according to new alingments

I agree on Evadale and Spurger, but would have to take HD even if HI is at home.

Next years basketball district will be a tough road for HI to travel, and I do mean travel.

Just being optimistic.  And yes next year will be rough on both the boys and girls bball teams.  But you got to go with what they give you.
  7. Evadale vs. Spurger
Sabine Pass vs. Hull - Daisetta
    High Island vs. West Hardin

Thoughts?  For me it will be Evadale, Hull.  H.I./W.H. game will be interesting.  The Lady Cards are doing great at this point and are working for something that H.I. hasn't had in a long time, while W.H. is doing what they can to get back into the playoff picture.  Winner of this game, their road to the playoffs will be a little bit easier, were as the loser will have a huge up hill climb.
