So I guess that the Cards weren't real competition for your guys (12 pt difference), or for West Hardin (8 pt difference).  And when you look at it, High Island beat themeselves in both games (turnovers).  People are really underestimating High Island.  That's fine, better for the Cards to be overlooked and not worried about, because they have surprised alot of people this year, and will surprise a few more.

The Cardinals are always underestimated! And you are so right. Let all of them come out to play and not worry about High Island or think they are no competition. The Cardinals will continue to surprise people and maybe, just maybe, earn a little respect from these posters!!!

Conside this poster someone with great respect for the HI Cards. I have stated many times that there is plenty of tough stock in the players from HI and I will add SP. I love my Rebels and of course I believe that they will win tomorrow night. But every team better come out ready to play against every team in 23A. Some have posted on SETX calling this the weakest 1A district in the state. I don't think so and here is my reasoning.

District 23A has great kids. Girls and guys, so I take offense when people call our district weak. I am sure we will hear it next year about both the districts that emerge once we divide into D1 and D2. Well you know what I will stack our schools, teams, coaches and kids against any other 1A in the state. We not knot come out on top but they will know they have been in a fight.

Let me write it for all to read. I think the kids in Burkeville, Colmesneil, Chester, High Island, Hull-Daisetta, Sabine Pass, West Hardin and Evadale are great athletes, students and most importantly young men and women that we all can be proud of.

I wish the Cards well even though I don't wish them a victory against us.

It was a very WET game, as all games probably were.  It was a good defensive battle, both teams had several turn overs.  The Oilers defense was all over the field tonight making key stops.  #50 Werner for the Oilers had an outstanding game, he had at least 15 tackles with 3 or 4 of them being for a loss.  I not doing my normal break down tonight, because there isn't much to say.  #7 Miller had a great 50+ yard TD run & D Wade your right, #30 Letsinger had a 35yd run at a great time.  Great job by the Oilers for pulling out the win over a talented Cardinal team. 

One negitive note before I go to bed; the drive that the Cardinals scored on was set up by some of the crappiest penalties I've ever seen.  The Oilers got flagged for an defensive pass interferance that could have just as easlily been on the offense, then a few plays later got called for another one when the ball was uncatchable and the defender had fallen down before the ball got there.  So that was 30 yds of crap.  Up until that drive the refs were calling a pretty decent game, flags against both teams & some waved off after discussions.

From what I was told, those were the only 3 flags thrown on West Hardin all night.  Most of the calls went against High Island.  Not making any excuses, but everything (calls) went WH way up until that point.

This is going to be a very interesting game.  Both teams will have alot on the line in regards to the playoff pictures.  Winners chances for playoffs look good, were as the loser is going to have to get some help to make it in.  I'll say HI in a close one, the Cards are playing some really good ball right now.  Good luck to both teams.

Great game played last night guys.  Two teams went at each other with all they had, unfortunately someone had to lose (glad it wasn't you).  You showed alot of heart in the second half and in the OT period and got the win.  Now its time to get ready for your next opponent and keep up your success that your enjoying this year.  But remember to take it one game at a time.

Guess we will see if Evadale is the super hero team yall say they are friday night. Bobcats that are reading this and are playing friday night, yall should be fired up. Evadale has totally looked past yall and have no respect for the H-D Bobcat team. Can you say BIG HEAD !!! SWOLLEN UP !!! I know H-D can play with Evadale. The Rebs have a great Coach and good players, but so does H-D. The pre-season games were just a warm up, District is what counts. H-D has always had a great track record when it comes to District. I know H-D has more skilled football players than anyone in District, the question is whether H-D is tougher and does H-D have more heart than the Rebs. We will see friday night. Can the Rebs go 2-12 all time vs H-D? Opposed to 1-13.

So the unskilled players from High Island didn't do much to you then.  Wait, they were in the whole game from start to finish with your beloved Bobcats last week.  So maybe you don't really have the best skilled players in the district.  Or I'm just living in a dream world and completely misinterpreted the game that I saw!

Sounds like a mad Cardinal !!! Yall are the ones that ran gimick plays all game. Trick plays all night from HI. Guess you got to do what it takes to try and win a game. H-D's wildcat looks good.

I think trick plays were equal between both teams.  Both teams went right at each other, HD got a couple of lucky bounces (fumble recoveries) and took advantage of them.  Congrats to them on the win and good luck against Evadale.

Here is my take on the game from Friday.  The major difference in the game was the two fumbles that HI had in the 2nd half.  You take those two mistakes away and HI wins.  I think the intimidation factor that HD has had in the past was completely gone.  HI came out with a purpose and went right at the Bobcats.  Hopefully HI has earned the respect of the Bobcats.  Good luck to both teams in their matchups this coming week.

Was an excellent meet put on by Bridge City.  High Island sent their girls to it.  From my understanding they were the only 1A school in attendance, this should help them get ready for their district meet in late Oct.  Good job girls

Scrimmage was moved to Saturday, because of friday storms.  In controlled part High Island 1  Legacy  0.  In live game situations Legacy 16  High Island  8.  No injuries on either side.  Now it's time for the real stuff to begin.  Good luck to both teams this coming week.

High Island sent their varsity and j.v. teams to it.  They didn't win a game, but they all got some valuable experience to get a jump on this season.   They were the only 1A school at the camp this past weekend.

Thanks for the response.  Those girls have come a long way, since Coach Hughes got them.  They may turns some heads this year, returning 3 starters and a bench that will be alot better this year.

Yes, Hull - Dasietta did beat the dog out of High Island last year (62 - 0), but the West Hardin game was a good one (36 - 22, fourteen point difference).  So I don't see how West Hardin killed them last year.   And add in the fact that High Island lost to Evadale by fourteen points also (34 - 20).  Copeland did all the damage in the West Hardin game (he accounted for all of the WH td's), and like stated early in this topic High Island played Evadale well for two and half quarters.   I think the Cardinals may make some people think this year, they may be on the outside looking in, but don't overlook them at all.

ya but the game agianst WH was close on the scoreboard but it was never close Copleland didnt play the whole 4th quarter and two of those touchdowns were on the JV, West Hardins varsity didnt play the whole 4th quarter and some of the 3rd

They were a good team. At least we made it. I have family on the team to answer your question. Just admit we are a good team. We took care of you and Kountze. Why not just give us what is due. But in slang terms, you will always have HATERZ.

We realize that you guys are a good team, but why make it hard on yourself and your teammates by talking mess on here.  And in regards to another post that you have on here, I saw your girls get extremely physical with the High Island girls when yall played them (your tournament and a regular game).  Just do your talking on the court.
