  1. I wouldn't go to far. Everyone has passed on this team. Tarkington, Diboll, Caney Creek. I say this knowing Nederland could have easily dropped 70 80 points last night if they didn't stop trying midway in the third quarter. Nederland did what it was supposed to do beat a bad team and they played sound football. As long as they do that they'll make the playoffs. Good luck with the rest of your season.
  2. I hope everyone that wants to come back to Port Arthur gets back. The titans are clearly the best team in the league and possibly this region.
  3. My son brought home a revised schedule. Livingston and PNG play sub varsity games next Wednesday. I'm pretty sure the coaches know the rules better than us arm chair quarterbacks.
  4. Kinda eerie. Its not nearly as crowded as its been in the past and the crowd is quiet, even before big downs. guess it because everyone has work and school in the morning. Nederland rode here in style. Do they always take charters for longer road trips?
  5. Last time I was at memorial stadium was when Lincoln and TJ still existed. It was pretty hard to get a spot even though they have a huge parking lot. That was a fun rivalry. Damn discrimination order settlement. So yes I would agree.
  6. No they can move sub varsity games. I gotta change my schedule now to fit a few in. Be on the lookout for revised schedules as they work it out.
  7. Nederland wins by at least 30. Livingston let a suspect Caney Creek walk all over them. I saw the freshman last week and Nederland is fast. I like natural grass over turf as long as its maintained. The stadium is small and the parking is iffy but. The only places with decent parking is beaumont and Lumberton. Everywhere else it's get there early or walk a few miles. District game road trips ought to be less intense next year with 5A division 1 and 2. My road trips will be along I-69 in Cleveland, Caney Creek, and spledora. (Keeping fingers crossed because that where Livingston would have been if not for the fiasco) You only gotta make the trip once. I make it every other week in the fall and every week in the spring.
  8. West Brook will never keep a decent coach paying that low. You should see what they pay 6A coaches in Houston. And if I were Memorials coach is be looking west to get a 30-40k raise. He's been successful for quite some time. At a certain point its got to be about the money.
  9. Candy Creek 27, Livingston 0 at the half. Panthers throwing the ball all over the field; Lions have no answer.
  10. Livingston was practicing Friday. With the destruction southeast of here I'm wondering how this is going to work? It would be great if the kids could start next week but from what I hear its still in bad shape. They'd have to compress the schedule or split into zones.
  11. Livingston is probably the only team in 22-5a that's going to play this week. I don't know what that district is going to do. Once everyone is safe maybe they can split the district in zones and the top two in each zone goes to the playoffs. I don't see every team being ready to play starting week 3. A lot of Orange County will still be under water this week because of the releases from Sam rayburn dam.
  12. Couldn't they temporarily merge the school. I'm sure the school isn't big enough like FB Marshall which housed Marshall on one floor and Willoridge on the other due to mold issues. In any case. Its a bad situation for Kingwood I hate to hear that
  13. I'm prepared to get scorched for this take, but this rivalry game has been greatly diminished since Ozen opened up and then Central dropping down in class. This game doesn't help West Brook get ready for district at all. The Bruins need to play 6A teams in non district. BISD needs to either rezone so all the schools are legitamite 5A or quit making WB play uncompetitive games because the parents want to relive their glory days. Hebert and BCP play every year in district - that ought to be enough. At the very least, BISD should remove the Ozen game from the Bruins schedule because that's really a 4A school. If the goal is for all the schools to go far in the playoffs then the current state of the "Beaumont Bowl" hurts those chances.
  14. With the water out in Beaumont until at least Monday, I would imagine BISD is not opening Tuesday. And with most of Orange County still without power, they have to cancel school for a few more day. I hope for a speedy recovery in the Triangle.
  15. I like football too. I'm sad my son isn't playing this week. But i'd rather they cancel the games so people can begin to put their lives together. Being safe and getting some peace of mind is much more important than the game of football. I hope everyone in the golden triangle comes out of this okay.
  16. They need to cancel the games this week. Its horrible in greater houston. The cajun navy is in full force pulling people out of homes right now. And its not going to be feasible to play anywhere in Beaumont either. Harvey is going back in the gulf strengthen and plow though BMT Wednesday per all the weather forecasts. Stay safe out there.
  17. There's only two great teams in this district - Port Arthur and PN-G - and one horrible team (Baytown Lee). The rest is a toss up. With the coaching changes in Beaumont and Nederland this is gonna be fun. 1 - Port Arthur Memorial 2 - Port Neches-Groves 3 - Central 4 - Nederland 5 - Vidor 5 - Livingston 7 - Lumberton 8 - Ozen 9 - Baytown Lee i would not be surprised to see a four way tie for the last playoff spot. I wish PA and PNG the best; they have a good shot of going 4-5 rounds deep if they can avoid injuries.
  18. This is a good first step. In the next two years the UIL needs to consider taking the top 130 schools and create a 7A division. The disparity in 6A is just as bad if not worse as it is in 5A. Before this split I was hoping that the 5A cutoff moved up to 1350. But now I'm looking forward to staying in 5A.
