  1. 40-31 Livingston. End Q3. After a slow start to the quarter, Livingston pushed it's lead to as large as 13 before Liberty closed out the quarter on a 4-0 run
  2. Sorry I'm late. Livingston 27-Liberty 22 at the half. The Panthers have been able to keep it close. Not a lot of visitors here tonight. What a shame, they have just as good a chance as anyone for a playoff spot. No one is out off this race with three teams tied at 1-1 for the last spot. Probably will dig into tie breakers next week as we get closer to the end.
  3. With Tarkington dropping down, Orangefield moving up, and Lumberton staying put, this was the logical conclusion. The districts will be fun. And nothing is stopping Silsbee and HJ from playing more than once in non district.
  4. 69-53 final. Good game by the Wildcats. No winless teams I. District play at the conclusion of the first round. Adios!
  5. Game not over still one more quarter to go. 61-41 less than six minutes to go...
  6. Good win. Hope everyone is feeling better heard the flu is bad out there
  7. 54-34 Splendora. I never bitch about refs because it's a hard job and so many other things go into winning and losing, but this is rediculous. This has got to be one of the sorriest crews I've seen. Totally took away Livingston chance to get back in the game with B's technical fouls after shitty calls.
  8. 41-19 Splendora at the half. Good shooting by the home team, sloppy play by the visitor.
  9. Splendora has found a shooting touch. They hit a 3 to end the quarter and started q2 with one 22_13 with 640 left in the half
  10. 15-13 Splendora end Q1. Wildcats shook off early turnovers and the Lions got in some foul trouble which turned the tide.
  11. Waiting out the end of the girls varsity game. Livingston girls basketball is going to move to 7-0 in district with a 42-33 win. Wish more districts would do the boys girls double headers, just makes for a good crowd and you don't have to miss a thing. I have no idea how this is going to go. Our coach said it plainly in the newspaper after the debacle on Tuesday, it's gotta be some of the worse offense being run in the great state of Texas right now. They have the right guy running the show. These boys will have no one to blame but themselves when they don't go as far as they could have because they'd rather play fortnite than go to all the open gyms this summer and fall to work on their games. Splendora had a unique situation last year. They had five sets of twins between the boys and girls varsity teams. Enough of the rants. Let's have a good game!
  12. 59-35 Shepherd. Good game Pirates. Pirates move to 2-2 and Livingston drops it's third straight game to fall to 1-3 with a road game at Splendora Friday. The Pirates host the Liberty Panthers. So long!
  13. 48-21 Shepherd end of Q3. Gotta play better at home. Silly me going against the line. Ughhh!
  14. Livingston gut stomped WOS and gave East Chambers a game. But then they got beat by Hampshire Fanette, who I'm glad to see is much improved. Outside of Huffman, everyone of these teams is wildly inconsistent. Silsbee and HJ win their games handily but depending on who's number 2 and 3 and how they're feeling that night, a split is possible. If we played a bi district tournament, only Huffman would be in the gold bracket and 21-4a would be making up most of the bronze bracket. But in a one game scenerio, I like my chances at a split. But I wouldn't put more than a Florida's kitchen rib special on it!
  15. 32-15 Shepherd at the half. Livingston is just laying down. Very disappointing. Still a half to put it together but 7 points per quarter ain't gonna cut it.
  16. 17-8 Shepherd. Q1 Livingston came out flat. Let's see how they adjust.
  17. This district never gets talked about much on the forum, mainly due to distance and the teams being more Greater Houston Area oriented. Last year, several of the teams had great seasons; this year, only Hargrave has a winning record heading into the last week of round 1 of district play. Probably the best game of the week will be Tarkington at Hargrave on Friday for first place Current district standings: Hargrave 3-0 Tarkington 3-0 Livingston 1-2 Shepherd 1-2 Liberty 1-2 Splendora 0-3 Hargrave will probably be champs again. The winner of tonight's Shepherd @ Livingston game still has a shot at second place but will have to beat a much improved Tarkington team in the second round and a possible seeding game. We'll have a better picture after Friday. Huffman seems to be on par with Silsbee and HJ, while Livingston, Tarkington, Shepherd would make for interesting matchups, depending on final seeding vs 22-4A. 22-4A is the better district, but I think we'll split bi-district 2-2 and the berth to Huntsville being a toss up between our district champions.
  18. Shepherd is losing that one. The Lions blew their chance at a district title with the loss to Tarkington, but second place is still in sight. They finish no worse than 7-3.
  19. Losing the Lumberton game was bad and cost a chance at an easier path to the area round. That kind of result is extremely frustrating. But he seems to get the team to the playoffs. And outside of Livingston and Splendora, everyone you played this year made the playoffs. It was a good schedule. It has been worse on Bear Path. They will never be WOS. But they should be competitive every year. And from the looks of it now, they are. All it takes is a win or two in the playoffs to change the perception of the season.
  20. As head coach, you're responsible for what gets called. At anytime, he can overrule a playcall. The coordinator takes his cues and actions based on his boss's philosophy. The coordinator is doing what the coach wants Your argument doesn't absolve Crouch from being conservative when the situation calls for boldness. That's just who he is. And that's not a problem except for a few plays on a few Fridays in the fall. That said, he's winning games, he's been in the LCM family for a long time and the Bears could do worse, and have, with coaching. One could make the argument they're not getting their money's worth if you want to compare salaries with the outstanding gentleman across town (I hate they publicize teacher salaries, they're doing the Lord's work and and are severely underpaid and unless they're making more than 100k, then it should be public information, but that's another gripe. I consider coaches to be teachers, even the athletic director that just coaches football because he's teaching life lessons), but goal is to get to the playoffs and he does that. Why y'all want to run him off every other year, I don't understand it. You could be like me, going to basketball scrimmages to play against schools without football teams that are in basketball shape while we haven't had a good practice.
  21. Both teams lost games to weather. That's a lot of reps to lose to fine tune things. Maybe this thread is premature because the second round will be against teams that have had the full 10 games to work out the links.
  22. I like Crouch, but he coaches not to lose. If LCM gets down by two scores, it a wrap because he'll call plays to minimize the damage instead of taking the chances needed to get back in the game. That Henderson game a few years ago frustrated me to no end. Not to say that LCM could have come back and won, but his play calling killed any chance of making it interesting. That said, this is probably the best stretch of Bear football since he was on David Williams staff in the 90s. They get to the playoffs somewhat consistently and win every now and then. I wish I could say the same up here in my adopted hometown. Go Bears!
  23. No one is moving to Orange County, or Jefferson County, either. Southeast Texas isn't growing, hasn't grown in my life time. It's a shame, I think its a wonderful place. Probably the best thing that could happen is to combine a couple of cities and gain a stronger voice in the state and federal government. Populations over 40k getter access to funds and it's easier to sell yourself to outside sources. There shouldn't be West Orange, Pinehurst, Little Cypress and Orangefield, they're all Orange. And while we're at it, cut down on all the school districts. No WOS, LCM, Bridge City and Orangefield, just Orange and Prairie View (so Orangefield alums can get behind the new school and a nod to the old name of the area) It's so frustrating up here there are all these little schools with the barest of essentials (Legget, Goodrich and to some extent onalaska and big Sandy) when if there were just one school, there would be better educational opportunities at a better cost.
  24. I thought the falcons had a chance to win the district but they're better than I thought. I take back my slander that Jasper, Silsbee and WOS would dog walk you. I would say it depends on how long you can avoid Carthage. Right now, it's a three way fight for second place in the district of doom. Depending on the.march, maybe y'all make some noise. I wish Huffman only the best.
