  1. We have a really balanced team...many different people to go to whether it is run or pass. I know they have the ability to win this game...just hope they pull it off. I don't think any of you can fully grasp what this win will mean to us. So many of the kids have parents that graduated from Lumberton and we've waited a long time. And it's a great group of boys for it to happen to. Not to mention Coach C and several asst's who are also Lumberton grads.
  2. Returning players: Johnathan Ward, Aaron Credeur, Hunter Howden...I think that's all...these all play varsity football Players moving up to Varsity: Not for sure, but should be...Johnathan Nelson, Scott Purks, Justin Harves...can't think of any more...these are all on JV football team.
  3. I didn't realize Lumberton had the only braggers. Man, I've been wrong all this time
  4. Yeah, my brother played on that team. It was the first Lumberton team to beat Jasper. That was something for us back then.
  5. You are probably very close. New houses going up everywhere but most seem to have younger children.
  6. Yeah, you're right. We were close in a lot of our games just couldn't pull off the win
  7. Yeah, with both of you having a playoff spot wrapped up. Do you go all out for a win or play conservatively to protect against those injuries? Interesting.
  8. I agree. I am interested to see how they will handle your Hemmings...he is a good player.
  9. Well, I know it is a different Dayton team than played Lumberton...they have made adjustments. If you go by stats (which I know don't always mean anything...but people are throwing them out) Dayton had 277 total yards against Lumberton, but have a different quarterback now...Lumberton had 255 total yards against the defense they played that night. Don't know what adjustments they have made to their defense. Dayton had 104 rushing to Lumberton's 160. Also mistakes by both teams that game. PNG had 367 total yards against Lumberton and Lumberton had 336. PNG had 182 rushing to Lumberton's 106. Lumberton beat Dayton by 1 point and PNG beat Lumberton by 7 points. IMO either game could've gone either way. It's hard to compare the two games because Dayton has made changes. So I don't think someone from Lumberton saying Dayton will beat PNG even though Lumberton beat Dayton and PNG beat Lumberton is out of the question. Too many things have changed since week 1. I'm not making any predictions but if Dayton wins, I don't think it will be a blowout like the NED game.
  10. Thank you!! I agree, Dayton has no reason to be jealous of us. We just get tired of those few from Dayton who do that and wish they would let it go. Datyon made the adjustments needed and have gone on to dominate the district like a lot of people from Lumberton thought they would. If you keep playing like you have been you should do well in the playoffs. If we make it, this being our first time, we'll just have to see what happens. Hopefully they can stay focused and get the job done. We will have to play mistake free football and make the big plays. And we know that if we meet you again in the playoffs it will be a different Dayton team. We're proud of our boys no matter what.
  11. In high school the coaches don't (or shouldn't) care who your parents are or if daddy coached you all your life and you never sat the bench. They will (or should) play the players that deserve to play. High school sports is a whole different world.
  12. Dayton does have a very nice stadium. PNG, with all the money you're spending on your new stadium...will you have better parking??? Hopefully you will because it's terrible now. And if you're not going to have better parking...I wouldn't be saying anything about Dayton's visitor stands. P.S. I'm not from Dayton...just making an observation.
  13. Well, this is certainly a good team. But you really can't compare teams because their opponents were all different.
  14. OK, so there are no playoffs riding on this game. Just go out there and play your hearts out and have fun with it. Last game for all the seniors so make it as memorable as possible. Good luck to both teams.
  15. What's the point?? Are you saying this because there are no playoffs riding on this game? LCM & Vidor, hey, the pressures off...just go out there...play your hearts out and have fun with it. It's the last game for all the seniors so make it as memorable as possible. Good luck to both teams.
  16. Dayton fans are missing the point. It makes no difference why you lost to us...you still lost. But every other post from some of you is reminding everyone about why you lost to Lumberton and that you would beat us today. If any Lumberton fan did the same thing about one of their losses you and everyone else on this board would tell them to shut up and accept the loss. We are not the ones that keep bringing up that game...you are. It's over, it's done, move on to something else. You would accept no less from us or anyone else. Please, everyone knows that you are a good team. You don't need to justify the loss to anyone. Yes, if we win Friday night it will be the greatest thing that has ever happened for Lumberton football. Most of us have been waiting a lifetime for this. Noone but us knows what this truly means because you haven't been where we are and lived what we have lived through in the past. Most of us either played or have family that have played in the last 40 years. And those boys also played their hearts out but just couldn't get it done. We've been the butt of everyone's jokes all this time. Most of the boys on this team have lived here all of their lives as have their parents. Coach C and several of the asst. coaches are also Lumberton grads. So, yes, it means a lot to us. We are a close knit bunch and we stand behind these boys no matter what happens on Friday. Even if we go home 8-2, they are winners in our book and we are very proud of them.
  17. You'd like some payback, huh ;D ;D Who knows, maybe you'll get your chance. ;D
  18. No, we are not still riding on cloud nine after that win, and we know you are a different team (how could we forget, ya'll keep reminding us ;D) Believe me, we know more than you what this game Friday against Ned means. We don't need anyone else telling us, basically, "don't be overconfident". I think we know that...even though some fans take things too far at times. But we are confident that our boys have the ability and the desire to beat Ned. And NOT because we beat Dayton and Dayton beat Ned. Will we beat Ned? We'll see on Friday night.
  19. Those boys have worked very hard and have earned what they have accomplished. They deserve to go to the playoffs and hopefully win no matter what you think of Maverick or any of the rest of us. I don't like some other teams posts either, but would never come on here and openly wish their team to lose in the playoffs.
  20. Don't lump all Lumberton posters together. Every team has their few posters that make it hard to root for that team. Most just want to support their team.
  21. When do the playoffs begin? The week after district play?
  22. 5A - Westbrook 4A - Lumberton 3A - Silsbee 2A - Newton 1A - Evadale
