I don't know that the o-line is as good as it was last year either. We're gonna have to run it well to win and we're capable with several guys that can break one, but it won't be like it was in Jasper last year. Hunt had over 350 that night and I think that was a school record.

Yep. Gotta stay on topic. I'm worried about this game, to be honest. I think the teams are very close from a talent perspective, but Jasper hasn't played smart football yet this year. We have way too many penalties and a lot of those are of the 15-yard variety. That can't happen much to us this week if we want to win the game.

I want to know who whizzes in your Cheerios every day. You're a piece of work. LOL

Jasper should be in pretty good shape. I don't think there are any major injuries unless something happened since Friday night. Maybe one of the local posters down there can confirm.
-
Right. If the kids can't handle being coached, their problems won't get fixed. I'm surprised this issue doesn't happen more than it does with so many pampered kids these days.

They were on par (or better at times) with us and Newton back when we were briefly in the same 3A district in the 2000's and made several deep playoff runs. I know we don't want to discuss systemic issues, but athletes usually don't just disappear from places like that. Changes have to be made to get those kids motivated to play.

That's funny. Could really go either way.
-
I'd never be allowed in Jasper again if I picked against them. It's gonna be close. Jasper 31, WOS 30.

It's tough to see schools like LaMarque and Bay City regress from what they used to be. They both knocked us out of the playoffs at different times.

West Orange-Stark 46 Bridge City 7/FINAL

I listen to KOGT when Jasper isn't playing. You're right. He's probably the best in the area. We love Art Lay and he's been doing Bulldogs games since 1974, but he's getting up there and can be hard to listen to at times. -
Jasper 63 LaMarque 6 FINAL
-
Jasper scores on a short TD run. 63-6 with 6:58 left in the game.
-
Jasper scores after getting a turnover deep in LaMarque territory. 57-6 Jasper with 6:23 left in the 3rd.
-
It's hard to get excited about games like this...
-
Jasper scores on another long TD run. 50-6. 7:38 left in the 3rd.
-
Sad to see. I don't remember ever beating them before last year and these two games have been complete blowouts in our favor.
-
Jasper scores again and converts the PAT. 43-6.
-
I don't remember complaining about penalties all of last season. That's the difference this year.
-
Jasper leads 36-6 at halftime. Lots of penalties, though. Gotta clean that up.

West Orange Stark vs Bridge City

Hunt has played both ways (mostly defense) since the week after we played you guys early last season. I guess the coaches are pretty confident that the other backs can do enough on offense to keep things going...and most of the time that's true. We need Hunt in the games against the better defenses because of his ability to make huge plays and it hurt not having him last week. It's too early to worry about it too much. If a couple of unfortunate breaks go our way last week, we're not talking about this...but it is what it is. Hopefully, we can clean up penalties and turnover issues this week and feel good about things going into the WOS game. We'll see. -
West Orange Stark vs Bridge City

Jasper actually played backups most of that game and regularly does against lesser opponents, so we do the same thing that you guys do. It'll make for two healthy football teams next week. Hope you guys have a good game tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to the banter back and forth after that. -
I think you're right in that we probably were better last year, especially when Hunt was being used more on offense. It never really felt the same after the first WOS game and hasn't since. I'm not saying that the other backs can't do it, but he has an "it" factor that seems to be lacking with those guys. I think matchups still favor us getting three rounds deep and facing either Silsbee or WOS at that point, but it isn't as likely as it was at this point last season. Maybe Hunt gets more work on offense next week and Barbay changes his mind after that. We're still a really good football team, but something isn't right.

Did WOS win the toss for that game?

Can't wait! Probably first of two meetings!
