  1. That's plausible for sure. What a tough 24 hours for Houston sports fans. Jeez...
  2. Cora should be banned and deservedly so. I also think Crane did the right thing in letting Luhnow and Hinch go. I don't condone what happened even if everybody else in baseball is doing it. It doesn't mean the Astros had to stoop to that level. I love baseball and despise anyone who cheats the game and its fans.
  3. He played his butt off today. I'm a Seahawks fan, but he threw the ball pretty well today and made me nervous. The Eagles' o-line let him down.
  4. Is a 9-team district (9-4A DII) really on the table? I'm not buying that at all. Ty - They have Orangefield as one of the nine teams.
  5. If that's true. all the talk about us playing a soft schedule will go away. To be fair, I've been critical of our scheduling for years and that would make me feel much better.
  6. You don't see too many spread teams that go 9-3 and score 19 points per game, but I don't know why it worked out that way for them.
  7. Seems like they're gonna have to pony up more for this guy. Just looking off of stats alone, SDSU was pretty balanced, but they're only giving up maybe 10 points a game. Their defense is why they're good.
  8. I may go to the New Mexico Bowl (SDSU vs. Central Michigan) out of curiosity since I'm here just to see what the Aztecs are running on offense.
  9. I'm a Nebraska fan and Beck spent some time there as the OC. He got a lot of criticism, but I thought a lot of it was unfair just because expectations are always so high there. I think LU would be smart to get him before someone else does. Heck, I think UNM should be looking at him, too.
  10. How is Jasper not ranked?
  11. They do a good job. What a great comeback by the Tigers!
  12. I follow UW pretty closely after living in Seattle for over a decade at one time. He said that he had projects in the works related to teaching leadership principles to groups of people. He'll also be a liaison to the UW athletic department. He's only 55, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he'll coach again, but he said that he'd "like to not coach again." Everyone there seems to think that Jimmy Lake could be just as effective as Petersen was. He did a lot of the recruiting and has sent multiple guys from his defenses to the NFL.
  13. Hey Coach. We were in the same class at JHS and it's good to see what you're doing with your team. I'm happy for you, man...
  14. That was a fun district, man. Anyone could win on any given night except for Lumberton. They were still in the dark ages at that time and had a hard time beating anybody. I was disappointed when we and Silsbee got moved out to 20-4A. Liberty was in that new district too and they were a dang good team.
  15. It's pretty good when you can upset the #1 team in the country without getting calls.
  16. I'd be shocked if there was a coaching change. We had such a hard time finding someone that wanted to be there and he's doing a good job. People are overreacting to one bad night. Question for Jasper fans. Who's out there that would want that job that would do better? Be careful what you wish for.
  17. We went through that after our championship game appearance in 2004. Hurricane Rita had a lot to do with that after our QB transferred to Diboll, but we fell off really fast after Coach Lauve left and we went through two other coaches before Darrell came in. It can go south really quick with a series of bad decisions. Navasota is another example of that...
  18. The whole program is better. The numbers are up as far as participation goes and every team in the program won district this year. Everybody had a rough night last night from the coaches down to the players. Nobody should condone that, but at the same time we still went 8-2 with a lot of problems on the field during games. We had higher expectations, but sometimes those don't get met. Darrell's doing a good job there and it would be a shame to run off a guy like that because people can't deal with one bad night.
  19. I don't get it either. I saw a post last night that he was coaching just to clear a check. I don't know Darrell, but I do know that he cares deeply about those kids and gives everything he has to that program.
  20. They seemed to be pretty well-coached last year. We weren't committing all of the penalties or turning the ball over as much. I've seen a lot of stuff on social media this morning and a lot of Jasper fans are upset about how last night went and all of the sudden they think Barbay isn't the right guy anymore to coach the team. There are some things that need to be fixed, but people are forgetting everything we went through before he got there. Overall, he's got a good program. Every level won district this year. We can't keep overreacting and running guys out of town.
  21. Just like every year. I feel bad for a guy like Art, who has dedicated so much of his time over the last 45 years to what he does. I'd love to see him go out with a ring.
  22. The lack of leadership is surprising given how many seniors we had. We played good, clean football last year with one of the better teams we've ever had and I'm as disappointed as I've been in a long time that so much of that didn't carry over to this year. Hopefully the kids that are coming back learn from this and the coaches learn from it, too. I expect a young and hungry football team next year that might not put up the big numbers that we've seen the last two years, but I bet they'll be well coached.
  23. We were like this all year. It was going to catch up to us eventually and Bellville made us pay dearly. They were definitely the better team tonight and i expect them to give the Mustangs all they want next week.
  24. Headline needs to be fixed. Diboll lost this one. Cameron brought it, though. Congrats to them!
