  1. All I can tell you is that our JV squad is fast based on what I saw in the scrimmage that was webcast a few weeks ago. I don't know anything about your Hornets, but hopefully they'll play well and it will be a good game.
  2. They were pretty cocky, even when they were terrible. We went down there in '89 with a pretty good group and beat them 82-0 and they were still jawing all night long.
  3. I expect this to be a good defensive game. We played a slobber knocker against a very good Diboll team last year on a short week and lost 14-9. Jasper should play better this time around, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the score is similar to that game.
  4. Didn't see this coming at all, especially after reading yesterday that Jasper wouldn't have a game this week. Nice work by both coaches to get this done on the fly! I'll take the Dawgs by 1. Should be a great one.
  5. Just saw on KJAS that Jasper won't have a game this week. I know that they have added @ LC-M into their bye week slot (per Coach Barbay last week), so as of now they'll have a 9-game schedule.
  6. That's surprising.
  7. That makes sense. I'm really impressed with the Tigers and how they took a punch in the mouth from us and came right back. That's a great coaching point for both teams.
  8. Coach Barbay is supposedly looking for someone to play after his week's game with WO-S was called off. Are there any updates on that?
  9. They have Jasper as 0-0, but they show a 20-14 score and a win right next to it on the site. I don't agree with what they did here. Jasper shouldn't be in the top 10 and Silsbee shouldn't have dropped out of it. The game didn't count and shouldn't have influenced the rankings. Hopefully, we'll justify what they did by playing better than we did in the game last week. #6 is too high.
  10. I HOPE so. I don't disrespect any opponent, even if we're not supposed to like them.
  11. Nobody knows. I even said that.
  12. We all need to grow up and quit speculating about what would have happened had the game been allowed to continue. Nobody knows any of that because it didn't happen. Silsbee deserves respect because they took our shot early and figured out how to get back in the game. Jasper is going to give opponents fits if they can play a little smarter and limit turnovers. Both of these teams are going to win a lot of games this year. Hopefully, we'll see you guys in November.
  13. I'm not sure what the UIL rules are in this situation. Is it really going to count since they didn't get to halftime? I'll take it either way, but Silsbee had Uncle Mo on their side at the end. Playing it out could have gone either way.
  14. Pretty cool!
  15. My family was friends with the DuBoses while we were there. Small world. lol
  16. That sounds like a lot of fun.
  17. Could very well go that way. We have a new kicker this year that doesn't seem to have the same leg that the last few have had.
  18. Can't wait for this one. I'll take Jasper 28-27 in a classic.
  19. That's not good. You guys are normally well-coached. Hopefully they will figure it out.
  20. That's not really surprising. I've heard that a lot of town is still without power and it may not be restored for a few days. I would think that Barbay would schedule somebody and play a road game. He''s done it before.
  21. Wow! Didn't see this coming at all. Hopefully, Diboll will learn from this and get better. They earned my respect for what they did to us last year.
  22. I'd love to see you end up being right. We've been waiting a long time. Region 3 is stacked as we all know...
  23. Save your BS for someone else. Nowhere in that write-up did I ever say anything like that. I've said before that Jasper will probably lose a few games because of the tough schedule, but they might be better at the end of the year than they have been the past two years. I'd be shocked if the Bulldogs got past either WOS or Carthage in the playoffs.
  24. I just watched the video and neither team was any match at all for Jasper. The announcers pointed out that the Bulldogs won't have as much depth this year as they have in the past two or three years, but man are they fast! The second-string offense was effective for the most part against Evadale's first-team defense, but the QB-center exchange was pretty ragged as there were at least four fumbled snaps. The running game was solid and there were a couple of nice pass plays mixed in. I was really impressed with the second-string defense. One of the defensive ends (#81) was in on everything and the Rebels had all kinds of trouble moving the ball. The Bulldogs first-team was pretty sharp in both the controlled scrimmage and the two timed quarters against Coldspring. The offense scored touchdowns on the first three possessions and will be run-heavy as usual. The top two guys are going to be a pretty formidable combo and can score from anywhere on the field. Jasper didn't throw much at all, but they had some success and should be a little better in the passing game than in years past. The defense was pretty stout for the most part, but the Trojans managed a score in the half that they played because of a Jasper penalty that got them into scoring position. Overall, it was a good night for us considering the long lay-off from football. I'm hoping we'll have football in Lumberton next Friday night. As usual, the weather plays a huge role in things early in the season. You guys make sure you're prepared for whatever comes. God bless...
