I can see the perks of running the wing-t offense. Whenever you go up against a team that has a high octain offense such as WOS I think the Wing-T is an advantage to beat them due to the fact you can keep that offense off the field. But its also challenging to the WOS defense to get Navarro off the field and give the ball to Jack Dallas and company to let them get to work.  Looking for a good game on Friday Night at NRG. an team thats been in this situation the last three years, vs. a team that hasn't will be the edge...

I'll take WOS pulling away late in this one.

Yea because Navarro best hope is 3 yards and a cloud of dust and go for it on forth down but how long will that last if you're not scoring and wos is making the scoreboard look like a pinball machine u can't  be like liberty and try not to win but  just not try to get blewout   there is no tomorrow so u try to put the ball in the air it's going to be a pick 6, cureo made a lot of mistakes in that game against  them and Navarro had a 4th down catch that the WR bobbled all the way out of bounce and they gave him the catch anyway then on one of cureo drives the center snap the ball way over the qb head badly and I believe the game was tied at that point  is watching  the film saying we can't make those mistake or we might end up in the same boat

You missed my point. I said 1) it is rare for a SLOT-T offensive team to win state, not a running based team. Also, this kind of offense has to have dominant lineman to win the whole thing...dominant lineman, not good linemen.

    2) Everyone is not hooked on the spread. For goodness sake...it seems like half the teams in setx run that archaic offense and they almost never make a deep playoff run. What makes this scenario even sillier is that I think some of the coaches who run this offense would do so even if they had Earl Thomas or Deion Beasley on the team. It's all they know.

    Good point

I've waited until now to chime in on this thread and I'm going to start by reminding my OC brothers that after my Pirates, you're my favorite team. Now, I'm gonna bring you all down to earth. Every team that is a Regional champion is good period, regardless of what offense they run. Navarro runs their version of the slot but passed for approximately 100 yards a game during the regular season. Brock ran the WISHBONE to perfection last year in the state championship against Yoe (I was there) and basically ran sweep left and sweep right with it beating Cameron into submission. Until the mid 2000s when the SPREAD offense came into being, most teams either were running based or ran the west coast short passing game. Nederland still runs out of the pro-set and power I and do well with it. Several teams are very successful with running games; Calallen (5A still in playoffs) being one of them. There is a long list of recent champions that are running based which I can send you if you want. Run based offenses are successful now because most defenses are oriented to the PASS and don't see running teams (i.e. Dallas Cowboy's success with rookie QB). Everyone got hooked on the spread so ground and pound-clock control is something totally new.  We beat PAM because we were aggressive holding them to 2:57 in the first half of offense and because they had never seen our SLOT-T offense. Having said all that, Navarro is not your typical running team and don't sleep on them. They are aggressive, ball control based upon run with HUGE offensive line that blows big holes in the opposing defense, can throw the ball and extremely well coached. I was very surprised with what they could do against Cuero (I watched on Texan Live). Remember Kennedale--I told y'all about them. I know Coach T isn't taking this team lightly and I don't think y'all should either. This will be a one to two score game, not a blow out. WOS 35, Navarro 28.

Nobody is taking them lightly they are the ones saying that their are going to hang 50 points on us but u know what I remember ol Wayne limbrick averaging 200 hundreds yards a game for jasper wearing shirts saying u can't this and all that but when smoke cleared he had 66 yards off 33 carries against us he didn't shake our hand after the game that really close 7 to 6 this one will be one for the books also

    A couple of things:

I'm interested in seeing how Navarro will react being "under the lights" for the first time- playing in NRG against the defending champs, first trip to the state semifinal... We saw what happened the last 2 weeks when WO-S got off to a "slow" start, I'd hate to see what a fast start looks like. Don't want to get caught watching.

That being said, I don't think WO-S has ever cruised through this round. It's always a dogfight at this point, no matter the opponent.

Sinton's QB could throw it all over the field, Cuero's QB had maybe the best individual performance I've ever seen against a WO-S defense despite getting knocked out of the game (twice, I think). It may take another performance like that for Navarro.

How many Slot-T teams does WO-S have to beat to prove that they can stop it? Lol. Every time we face one, this topic is brought up as a threat. Maybe it was two years ago, but I think it's safe to say they've figured it

Great post! Of course  if u run the ball all night you will get yards but the question is how many touchdowns will be with those yards. To me if the other team is putting points on the board and all your running game is doing is getting yards but not scoring your running the clock out on yourself so how long will you stick with that

I'm not sure how an adults opinion will get us beat. They can't play. Y'all lee saying that each week. Our players don't post here. This is for fans to have a little fun. You follow each thread and try to find one little area where you can say something negative. So until our players start posting  I'm not worried about what our fans say and certainly not worried about trolls.

Sorry about the same message this what I know if we win by one people will have something to say because they expect to win big but I'm confident it will be by along more because I've I know it will before last season I walk in the weight room and Coach t said we are young and I told him that we will go 16 and 0 or 15 and 1 he Boy I hope you r right and I said I know I'm right 15 and 1 state championship I call him the next after and told now we are going 16 and 0 with at least 6 or more shutouts along the way Coach t said let me enjoy this one first I said enjoy but next will be perfect and will beat everybody by 21 points or more I even made a big bet before the season started that we would go undefeated by week 7 my coworker was already wanting to pay me saying he seen enough I told pay me in Arlington so I very confident in wos why shouldn't I be they done everything I predicted so far we like BAMA baby u just can't find a way to beat us we have the best defense in the country i looked and looked no one is close but BAMA the is two times better than last year we score 671 points this year almost 900 so what's not to love about this team

So they are quicker and faster than any team we have faced that runs in your opinion.

Yes but our defense will make them look average the key is no 6 or 7 gains on  first down for them we get up by 21 I think they will panic and put it in the air some and that's where we should run away it but we have to win first down all night long

  10. Good morning Mustang galaxy. Great win  last night but this what I want to say now that we are in the semifinals I can finally let you guys know what's  the deal is, glimer has been running there mouth ever since week 6 saying that their regular season games was going to be tougher than our first 4 playoffs games but I didn't see any teams that they have played to be eye poping and we would have beat Carthage so I don't know why they think we couldn't come over there and run through their district. But I will say this,  if we meet them again in the state championship we won't give it to them like we did 2 years ago I promise you that!
