The bad teams get weeded out in the first round anyway and it makes potential for more big games
When teams that aren't even .500 for the season and have a losing district record, which will be a certainty under a 4 team plan, they do not deserve to go.  There is a better way to weed bad teams out than by having them get their brains beat in during the first round...it is called not sending them in the first place.
Amen to that!
 2. Region's 1 & 4 look especially strong according to this poll.
 3. I think the large number of transfers could be for several reasons.  1) Lamar is ramping up their program a little faster and probably is playing a much tougher schedule earlier in the timeline and joining the SLC quicker.  They will need some more experienced and developed players to compete  2) I buy the argument that I saw posted on the board earlier that Woodard also knows the JC ranks a little better right now so he has some inroads that he has taken advantage of.
 4.
Good stuff, Matt. This is what our local 4A districts could look like: District 19-4A Jasper 770 Silsbee 853 Livingston 1148 Huffman 924 Cleveland 886 Splendora 910 District 20-4A Bmt. Ozen 1227 Barbers Hill 1181 LCM 1125 Lumberton 1063.5 PNG 1401 Vidor 1416
I like this.  Looks like 2 really competitive districts with the opportunity to play each other in pre district and also 5-A teams.
 5.
Ray, no joke! :)
"Maybe that wasn't the smartest scheduling in the world," said Woodard, whose team will play an 11-game independent schedule before it becomes a football-playing Southland member in 2011.

We'll see how it plays out.  Looks like Dan Rather State scheduling a lot of SLC schools was mistake as well.
 6. Stealing Ben Wells away was a big coup.  Woodard needs to be wary and we may have to steal this guy away from SFA.
 7. I think that 1500-2000 LU fans at a minimum will show up.  I hope that I am sorely underestimating the number of fans that will show up.  Could be the alltime stadium attendance record for McNeese.
 8. Went by the stadium yesterday evening.  Does anyone know what the base material is that they are laying the turf on?  It looks like limestone but the is hard to believe with just a thin layer of turf.  Seems that is would be very hard field.  Maybe it is some kind of rubber material.  Anyone have the answer?
 9. Went by and checked out the stadium yesterday evening.  Looks really good.  Turf is going to be real nice.  Stands, concessions, entry gates etc look are a significant upgrade.  Scoreboard will be really big but I can't imagine that it is going to be the third largest in the state.  Also there appears to be room for the bowl on the south end but it will be really close to the scoreboard and the athletic complex.  Looks like all the stadium with be ready but I'm not sure about the Morgan suites.  They look like a lot of work yet to be done.  Really need for the rain to stop and lots of dry days until Sept 11.  Will be awesome to see a full stadium come game time.

But didn't hear that alot last year when we played them. I think I heard him say a couple times "Crap!!! another PNG TD" ;D ;D ;D ;D
Actually he is a Baptist Preacher and good man.  I don't think he said what you said.  Still seething about the loss 2 years ago I see.
 11. I thought the Woodlands was also over 4k enrollment.
 12. In both Matt's and the Enterprise mock enrollment numbers really don't change much the enrollment disparity in the current 5-A (new 6-A) which is what I had read is the motivation for considering this change.  You still have a big gap between schools who have enrollments in excess of 3,500 students and all the lower enrollment schools.  Someone point out what I'm missing.  It looks real good for all the other classes.
 13.
[Hidden Content]
Good news.  I hope nothing delays the schedule.
 14. Is the stadium accross the Hwy the current stadium?  if so why did they not expand it?  It should have been more cost effective.  Also, if so then are they going to demo the old stadium?
 15.

Any updates on how the interior is coming for the Athletic Complex as well as the whole stadium completion.   Would have been nice for everything to be ready for the start of fall practice but with about 50 days to go until the first game, are we on track to be complete?
I found this on the internet for you... Field House and Stadium
Thanks.  Good pictures.  What date was this taken?  Looks like a lot of work to do for about 50 days until kickoff.

 17. Hopefully he will be 6'5" 290+ by the time he hits LU.  Glad to know he is a good kid from a great family.  I hope he also will be a beast on the field.
 18.
Hearing Harold Mann on play-by-play & former LU football player Bo Brown on color.
I like Harold Mann.  Good guy.  Just won't be the same with out old Dave Hofferth.  Anyway, having games to broadcast outway's my preference of the play by play announcer.
 19. It's possible to see a 4A division with enrollment numbers that run from 750-800 to 1400-1500.  That would keep most of the current local 4A schools in that division but would possibly add Silsbee, Jasper & WOS.

Following after his dad's (world's greatest freshman basketball coach) footsteps.
So are you being sarcastic?  I don't know anything about this recruit so maybe you could fill us in.
No sarcasm, he did indeed give Coach Woodard a verbal.
ARW do you have any info on young Mr Persohn?

 22.
You can add Tyrik Rollison a QB transfer from Auburn to the list.
What is good for Terror is not good for everyone else.  Just like the most famous alumni from Dan Rather State, being hypocritcal does not bother him.
 23. Sometimes this board becomes a forum for disgruntled individuals who are naysayers and negative thinkers, always looking to "espouse their superior intellect in all things sport" while really only trying to spew venom on those teams and individuals who they dislike and want to see fail (in a sordid way to feel better about their own self worth).  Like anybody hired for any job in any field, the new coach at LU will have to meet the expectations of his superiors (and the fans).  I for one like what I have seen so far and am supporting him to be successful and a winner and if he is, all LU fans and alumni will benefit.
 24. I think coach Woodard from Lamar needs to make a call to Brenham.
