  1. I'm the traditional power I or single back formation guy.  I'll run it till you stop it.  If I'm winning in the trenches,  Imma keep doing it.  I dont' mind a low scoring game.  And I'm definately not a fan of the spread at all as yall can probably see from some of my posts this year.

I'm with ya Soulja, just like Switzer said when he was at OU in the 70's "three things can happen when you pass and two of them are not good".Burnett got a lot of pressure to change to the spread at the beginning of the season, and uh well we saw how long that lasted.Yes you do have to be able to pass some to be able to run, but I feel the spread offense is not the answer for everyone. I like power, smash mouth, ball and clock control.

  2. I still have a hard time going against Neumann with his back to the wall.I feel he will have his dogs ready.Nederlands run defense will have to be ready and Guittierez being out is not going to help. Lumberton will bring an offense very similar to PNG's. Hussey is tough to stop, and they did pass against PNG. I was impressed with the coaches son. He is a good receiver.I think if Luberton brings the pressure to the young qb as PNG did, then they can stop the pass.PNG only sacked him once but rushed him all night.

After seeing both teams play I give Lumberton a slight edge (especially with Guittierez out), but I will never count out Neumann. He knows how to win and always seems to find a way.

  3. They are all just OK, I dont think there are any out there that are vying for any awards this year. The closest thing to innovation is Nederland going to the spread but even that is pretty much the status quo nowadays.

Generally I would say that this thread is a N/A. Not applicable.

LOL, PNG.. Why can't I stop laughing?? That is the funniest thing I have read in a while.. ROFLMAO.

Gotta admit it is true though.
  4. Weren't you guys calling for the head of your OC earlier in the year after 2 scoreless games?  Things change fast!  Personally, I think PNG's staff does a more than adequate job with the talent they have as does Nederland's.

I still want him gone Razor, I agree it is crazy how everyone has changed tunes when the truth of the matter is Burnett gets beat up for a few seasons and then a good group of kids come through and saves his job. If he was truly better as you say than Nederlands he would have the consistency of Neumann. For me a good team every three to four years is unacceptable. You want find me crawfishing and blowing him uo now as the best coach in the area.
  5. Tom has been catching some flack lately, especially from some of my fellow PNG fans. I can understand why, he is fond of Nederland and a reporter is supposed to be neutral. But what I have seen is that once you earn Mr. Halliburtons respect, he gets real eager to write about you. Back in the mid 90's when Nederland was starting to show up as a football team, TH didn't give them the credit they were deserving. I even recall an incindent(some of the older Ned. fans can back me up) where Tom went to a Nederland Pep Rally to present Troy Sumrall an award, and TH was booed because of Neds feeling of a lack of respect.

With this being said, can we as PNG fans expect him to look at us as a major football PROGRAM with just having a real good team every three to four years? He doesn't get real excited over one year wonders.Honestly Nederland does it year in and year out. This does, yes go back to coaching. We have a strong senior group, and a strong freshman group.Count, can you see the pattern?

As for me I still appreciate and respect the articles and coverage Mr. Halliburton gives our local kids.Just my two cents.

  6. I somewhat agree although I do not believe Dayton or Central is nearly the teams they were last season. Lumberton is no doubt gonna be a true test for our defense against the run. Im not sure on Lumbertons passing game so I won't throw that into the mix....however I think the defense's are probably a wash....passing game ....possibly a wash and running game if considering hemmings vs. hussey a wash....however the tie breaker for me is the recent explosion of Josh Wright onto the scene. I think this Juniour runner is just beggining to show his true stuff and will prove to be the big difference in the game. This kid is for real and is a true threat....if ANY team can keep this guy from turning the corners they have done something. This is the BEST 1 - 2 punch in the backfield since old thunder and lighting in PNG's glory days. Im sticking by my predicition but in all honesty....i wouldnt be suprised to see lumberton win...i don't think they will but ...gotta give credit where credit is due...lumberton has a nice team.

I agree about Josh Wright the one two punch does give an added advantage in the backfield. He was a pleasant surprise for us this year, especially having him back next year.
