We were talking about the PNG coach possibly moving on after the State win.  And someone asked what did Ethridge do?  That was answered.  But what wasn't stated, and I'm playing on memory, is that during Ethridge's run, they were in the big dog classification.  I think 4A was all it went to at that time.  Couldn't get any bigger than PNG vs Odessa Permian.  Now, I do recall that during this time Ethridge could have got the Lamar job.  Obviously he turned it down.  Not sure if any other college offers came his way.  So, obviously there is a bit of a difference between then and now.  Joseph has the "opportunity" to move up that Ethridge did not have.  But like I've said, Buchanan and Surratt stayed put.  And as I was reminded, Hooks and Thompson also.  So, hopefully for the Indian faithful he stays awhile!

Hopefully, for Nederland too. I think the longer PNG has Joseph the greater the likelihood Nederland gets their ducks in a row and finds  a coach to match him.

This is the hidden content, please

This is incredible. They had every opportunity to look at who was on the ref crew, and approved that crew anyway. How can there have been a lack of transparency when the ref bios were public information?

Also, that ref only even threw one flag the whole game, and that wasn’t the call they’re complaining about. That ref has no children attending PNG, which is the only violation possible. Wasn’t the ref crew from the Dallas area last year?

Not to mention, this sends the worst possible message to the students : That there’s no such thing as graceful defeat, that every disappointment must be appealed, that every failure is a robbery instead of just a failure.

  3. The future looks bright at PNG, but I tell you we’re going to feel the loss of Nyugen and Shea Adams - Few RBs in PNG history have had the vision, timing, and balance of Nyugen. And there might may not have ever been a do-it-all player as clutch across so many games as Adams in PNG history. These two took us to two state championships and one trophy, and they did it by repeatedly showing up in huge moments when inches mattered. There’s a lot more we’ll miss - #28 (I forget his name, but he’s been huge on offense and defense) is one.

Next man up. 2024 is going to be huge for PNG. But, we’ll definitely miss those guys.

It is a suburb of Dallas and in the Dallas area.

Not really a suburb , but definitely in the “area.” Aledo’s weird. Kind of like Sulphur Springs or the Tyler area. I’m betting if you’re in Aledo (I’ve never been) it doesn’t feel like you’re in the Dallas area, and it’s not super convenient to get to Dallas. Similar to living in Winnie - is Winnie a Houston suburb? I wouldn’t say it is. What is it - 1.5 hours from Aledo to Dallas, depending on traffic? Same as Golden triangle to Houston. I don’t know what region I’d put Aledo in, though. They’re closest to the DFW region.

How could he get the Nederland RB he would have to sit out his senior season? That’s not happening. No one in there right mind would do that.

I think he meant “like” the Nederland rb. But, while we’re talking about it, if Thomas just happened to visit PNG, I’m sure we’d be happy to find our way to a uniform fitting room , and if a ball just happens to fall into his hands and he starts scoring touchdowns I wouldn’t complain.

There are a lot more open enrollment ISDs than you think that are out there as well....Dallas ISD is far from unique in that regard

I do believe TX should consider doing like Louisiana and creating classifications and seperating out open enrollment ISD's vs non-open enrollment ISD's

I think Vidor is open enrollment , proving it’s not a magic button for being world beaters.

I mean you cant really do that because what if the other team wears white or has the same team colors as you? Refs dont need to be fashion police IMO

I’d be ok with it happening because of the incidental fact that two teams have similar or same colors. It’s more fishy when it’s obviously not your colors and the deliberate choice is based on what the other team is wearing. It’s purposeful interference with the referees. The only reason to do it is if you’re planning to hold AND to obstruct the refs’ view of the penalty. If that’s ok, why not also shine a light in the refs’ eyes so they can’t see? (An admittedly more extreme example, but both are in the same spirit of interference with the administration of the game).

I'm not the world's biggest fan of open enrollment myself, but we can thank the Texas legislature for that along with charter schools et al..it is what it is and the UIL does the best they can with the resources alloted. The kids that play for SOC are all eligible under UIL rules, the open enrollment/recruiting conversation to me is just as moot IMO as SOC people complaining about some close calls that didnt go their way

I’m not arguing they aren’t eligible. I’d just like to understand why we don’t recruit as openly as they do. Why can’t png just declare itself and open enrollment school and build a super team?

I'm loving all of this.  We beat the defending champs from the last two seasons and they now are trying to find ways to satisfy themselves mentally to why they loss.  Couldn't have happened to a better team from the recruiting Mecca.  Just think of the team we could have if we were able to recruit.

I’m going to need someone to explain the recruiting to me. Why are they able to do it, but everyone else isn’t? And, it’s clear they can’t recruit on an unlimited basis, otherwise they would have had a better quarterback and some better secondary. But you don’t get the best stacked 2022 team in the country just from the coincidence of guys being born there.

You are probably right.  But, IMHO, this Dodge will not win a State Title.  Joseph did in his second year.  Dodge is a good coach.  But does he have what it takes to win a Title?  Once they realize this will they then make a move?  Only time will tell.
PS — they think he an do what his Dad did:  not gonna happen!  Again, my opinion!

Why can’t he? He was only stopped by his own dad a few years ago.

I believe you are right.  Well, 99% right.  I think there is a caveat:  As I’ve stated before, if Westlake or South Lake Carrol wants him bad enough and makes offers worth his while I think that might sway him.  Other than that I think he’s staying.
Or if Nederland, well, never mind!  LOL!  Thoughts?!

If he tried to go to Nederland, PNG fans would form a human wall at the train tracks. He would need the CIA to smuggle him across the border.

I guess there isn’t any rule on that.  I would think that gloves would normally have to be school colors or black, white, or gray.  But, whatever.

I think there should be a rule on that. It’s evidencing an intention to interfere with the referee’s administration of the game. It’s saying, “We intend to cheat and we are taking action to obstruct the referees’ ability to observe and punish our cheating.”

Guess you missed that question mark at the end of the sentence huh?

Also I didn’t  speak on any of my credentials until you started trying to discredit them. I actually was only giving my opinion on why I felt talent matters more than coaching. Of course you continue to make up nonsense cause you have nothing factual to base your knowledge or me nor your stance on why coaching matters around. But it’s a free country continue to speak on things you’re clueless about lol

And to answer your question how many bad coaches you know won 3 state titles at the 6A D1 level?

So, just to be clear : You ARE saying you’re a good coach. You pretended you weren’t, but now you admit that you are. Which brings us full circle : You don’t want to make actual arguments. You just want to say, “I was a coach! Therefore, I’m right! Did I mention that I was a coach? Did ya’ll HEAR me that I was a coach?” It doesn’t change the fact that you’re wrong.

Also, I hate to break it to you: You didn’t win 3 state titles. You road the coattails of a guy who did, and, by your own admission, the talent at North Shore had more to do with winning than the coaches. So, congratulations, I guess.

    Answer mine…

You didn’t ask a question, and I placed none of my credentials into the discussion, so they’re irrelevant. You are the one trying to establish yourself as an authority because you were the “slap balls together” guy at North Shore. So, are you a good coach or not? It seems like this should be an easy question to answer, since you bring it up so much.
