  1. H J played tough against sheppard and I expect that they will be just as prepared this wk. I liked the offensive adjustments  gave 12 and 1 some running room. and a few down field passes softened the box. it was good to see big number 58 back once he gets back into game condition he will be a force again. wishing for a healthy weak of practice and a big win on friday

Word on the street is Shepherd will be missing a few key players due to injury this Friday.  If that is the case...it could make it tough on Shepherd....play offs so I will be surprised if they sit out but you never know.  The Bellville game was a physical ballgame.

HJ has been missing key players since the WOS game one gets healthy and another one goes down. hadn't seen shepherd any this year but HOPEFULLY hj has a good game plan to counter the will to win that all teams have in the playoffs. should be a very exciting game

That is not even necessary this year as far as district goes. Those two are in separate districts now.

Im aware of this but when the time comes for the game to be played it will still be a very hot topic!!!!! but to be honest every body in setx will be contemplating on how to handle them lol. more to come on the basketball forum. But for now lets hope for a speedy recovery for number 12 and an HJ playoff birth.

  4. Hj better bring out all the bells and whistles for this game. Sometime a little offensive creativity can spark a real good team into being an awesome team. HJ has some awesome athletes but are a lot of times bottled up with no running lanes.  Should not have come down to this one game but that is why all games have to be played. Current records mean nothing in this one. HJ better not take the horns lightly. If they do they will be hanging up the helmets and start contemplating on how to beat Silsbee this year in Basketball.

  5. Orange Field is pretty big and the things they do ....they do them well. Saw most of the Hj game last week from film seems to be that their defense is pretty darn good Hj struggled to run until late in the game. Hj didn't find success until they went to a spread set and threw the ball more. WOS is awesome at everything they do so im predicting a lopsided victory for the stangs.

  6. I have seen them play twice this year and they are much improved from last year. Their d line is pretty big and fast to the ball. everyone knows that WOS is a state powerhouse. We get that here in SETX but im sure every coach will prepare their team to give their best effort to dethrone the KINGS. not saying this will be an easy task but im sure hj will do better than most people are predicting .

  7. This is absolutely the craziest things I have read on this site. Although I do understand Mr. Frossards concerns, I am totally against any team having to give up their home field advantage. In my opinion PNG is one of the most noticed high school programs with a very strong history and heritage. to other schools it is quite intimidating some times to play at the reservation but hell that the fun in the game.  Try to send those dancing Indians home crying.  Just really don't see how a neutral site would settle any disturbances. to me it would actually make things worse. If this happens fans coaches and players  will arrive at the games with a chip on their shoulder.

Sorry about that last post. It keeps messing up at quoting old post.  Anyway, Barney Fife, I don't knowif Foreman was or was not calling the plays, but there are a lot of head coaches that give someone the OC or DC title and they still call the plays.  Just because he gave him the title doesn't mean he gave him play calling duty. The coordinators get more money. So sometimes head coaches that know they will still call the plays just give the title to someone for money reasons, to run practice, etc. Or they might be "training" them to eventually take over calling plays.

I totally Agree with you here just was saying coming form a toby Forman program Im sure coach Taylor is use to working hard. don't know much more about him outside of that fact. hope he gets whatever he needs at Ozen to be successful. My coworkers son played for them in 05-07 and I supported them then games were always interesting but fan support was really low I didn't have any kids in the program but probably made more games than most parents. Hope he can turn this around and get the players and community to buy in.

  9. I Know Toby Pretty well and Im sure if coach Taylor was listed as the OC then he was being allowed to call at least 80% of the plays. play calling is not just a Friday night job it takes a long work week of watching film and planning a strategy and Im sure Coach Taylor was a valuable part of this process.  Who knows if this guy will do any good at all but at least the Kids at Ozen has someone to call coach again.

  10. Will this news be released today in facts or is this more speculations... I hope for the sake of the kids bisd picks a good one. who ever it is they better hit the ground running. Almost feel bad for whoever the hire is because of the lack of time with the kids and preparation a winning season would require. Is it more set ups or is this a change for the better in Beaumont.?

  11. Normally when a new coach comes in he brings in the coaches he wants. could be a situation where HJ didnt allow him to get what he wanted his first year. Or it could be that coaches are getting their opportunity as head coaches or coordinators else where....or it could be that they think this will be a down year for HJ. who knows...

  12. I like the fact that alot of coaches are taking their program back to the way thing use to be done. I am an on the fence advocate of AAU ball only because I am a true advocate of team basketball.  AAU ball is awesome for allowing kids the opportunity to play against the best and get more exposure. but it will never replace the bond a school team can have by playing together throughout the summer.

I will even go further than that, there is no telling where Rison is but he has never gotten another HC job. John Clayton never got another HC job and is out of coaching. Arthur Louis never got another HC job and is out of coaching. The only coach that left Ozen and got another HC job was Thomas Brooks and he took a job at 3a Jasper. So i don't think any coach has ever used Ozen as a stepping stone job.

I wasn't necessarily saying the ozen job gave any of these coaches a hands up in getting a better job. I couldnt even name that many coaches from the school to know. but in the past there or four years it has been obvious that that program has had tremendous problems with keeping a good coach.  The point or opinion I was trying to state is that most of the coaches hired in the last few years have just left the program hanging. from reading I see that a few good coaches have been released or fired but for the most part the others just chose to leave. Something is going on in Beaumont that is going to result in some are school districts going up a division.

Personally I don't feel many of the coaches in SETX possess the knowledge to build a powerhouse at any of the Beaumont schools, the things they are teaching kids in setx compared to the Katy's, Allen's,  Desoto's etc of the world is rudimentary when you compare them to other places.

Ozen, Beaumont, And most of all the student athletes would benefit from any coach that would put the entire kid first. Lately it seems like ozen has been just a stepping stone for the last few hires. Did they really care about the progression of their kids. who knows. I have always thought of coaches and community leaders. Back when I played coaches were an extension of your family. which means they generally cared about the well being of their kids. I hate to hear when coaches just leave so late in the year. this hurts the kids, the community and the school. Hopefully BISD will get it correct this time and hire someone who will honestly be there for the benefit of the kids. Winning is easy! getting Kids to Buy in is the hard part. Kids can and will always sense BS! but if a kid believes that a coach really care for them outside of athletics then they will run through a brick wall to get the job done!

If Silsbee was smart, they main formation would be a 2 back set with Thomas and Tyler and 3 WR set with Lowe, Barnes and Mackey. You have to utilize your talent instead of wasting it.

I watched these guys all last year and was extremely impressed with their athletic ability. Im watering at the mouth waiting to see Mr. Tyler in action along with them. if our O line comes together as most people are thinking we will be a power house team. and as far as his offers this is a great opportunity for this young man and congrats to him and his family.

  16. Just read in the enterprise that Ozen had ten additional athletes sign to play at the next level. It as says that in the last two years they have had a total of 24 to sign. This is great numbers so Im sure the athletes are there. It a shame that this program has suffered so much over the last few years.

It does not make a difference if you play for your father. It's all about residency. A former Ozen player went to play for his father in Houston and wasn't allowed to play varsity his JUNIOR year.

Thanks for the clarity on this...I just figured that the kid would be allowed to move as well.

Congrats, early offers should make you work hard on and off the court....the haters are coming! Social Media is how they're gonna come so be the bigger person and don't respond, I've seen colleges bag out because of negativity on social media! Congrats again!

This is the most important to remember young man. Keep working hard.....well to be honest now its time to work even  harder. from now on everyone you play against will give you and your team their best anything to steal some looks for themselves. CONGRATS and stay humble.

Jalen will be at West Brook next year, and someone will protest it...Mark my word...

So are you putting some truth to the rumor that if Boutee get the westBrook job then Omar Sneed will be on the staff. If this is the case what are the UIL rules that would give any coach in  either district the right to protest. There has to be some exception in that case correct. Maybe that would explain why he left Beaumont to go to an out of district school in the first place. But seriously if this were the fact how could you keep a kid from playing for his father....
