Wow, sure you did not transpose the numbers.  41 Stolen Bases and next to her is 14, thats pretty good. How many games did you play.
    [/quote]

AJ played in 34 games. She was caught stealing twice and was used as a courtesy runner 19 times. 24 hits - 15 BB - 1 HBP - 4 reached on error - 19 courtesy runner = 63 opportunities to run bases.

  3. Our big man passed his physical, but was not released to play football. He will be doing conditioning with the football team and they will have him in shape by basketball season. He has been restricted from contact for two more months. The doctor measured him @ 6'3" and an out of shape 228 lbs. He will also be playing baseball with GTB Hitters, Inc. I will back up Dove, had he played at Nationals, it would have been a different story. This 7th grade team will be fun to watch.

  4. Today at Baseball USA, Kameron Williams of GT Hitters, Inc Blue won the home run derby at opening ceremonies of the Nation's World Series. With their scoring system, Kameron beat the 2nd place hitter by 11 points. Kameron hit three tape measure shots that caught the attention of everyone. Jacob Kelly, who also plays for the GT Blues, hit two of his own and finished third.

    Congrats guys! Way to represent.

  5. This was a great team effort. We went 2-0-1 in pool play in near 110 degree heat index. Our pitching was solid all weekend. Our first two bracket games we got on them pretty good. Shelby Hanks handled the pitching in the Saturday night and Sunday morning games and was over powering. Our sticks scored early and often to give us the opportunity to play a noon game against the Cy Fair Battz Gold at noon Sunday in over 100 degree heat. Brittnee Moore was tremendous in shutting out the Battz. She was in total control the entire game. With two out and no time on the clock, Kendall Williams laced a double to right  center field and then scored on a single by Kelsey Young for a great 1-0 win.

In the undefeated game against Lindale Heat a couple of early errors spotted them 2 quick runs but we took the game to ITB. Kelsey Young knocked in Brittnee Moore for the go ahead run and then threw out the tying runner at home for a 3-2 victory. After the early miscues, Shelby Hanks was again overpowering, allowing only one more baserunner.

In the championship game, we again came up against the Lindale Heat. Meagan Herring scored the go ahead run on a sac fly by Kendall Williams. Kelsey Young scored the second run on an RBI single by Caitlin McFarland to back up the shut out pitching of Brittnee Moore for a 2-0 win in the championship game.

This was a total team effort. Our outfield play by Kelsey Young, Courtney Laughlin, Ainsley Dyer, Brittnee Moore and Meagan Herring was outstanding. Nothing hit the ground. They were chasing fly balls and line drives down all over the park. Caitlin McFarland played Sunday with strep throat and sinus infection and played nearly perfect third base and started stroking the ball all over the place on Sunday. Our middle infield of Katie Birdwell at SS and Lauren Deaver at 2nd had great weekends, both batting over .400 for the weekend and neither making an error backing up our pitching. Kendall Williams had a good weekend at the plate batting right at .500 or just above. Meagan Herring and Maddie Sterling were excellent behind the plate. There was only 1 stolen based against all weekend. They did a great job.

It was nice to get the $500 but it was better to get the first place trophy. Congratulation ladies.

  6. Guys I have a radar gun, a jugs gun from when I played. I sat right behind home plate for last weekends pre tournament at friendswood. I clocked one kid at 70-75...he throws that hard but is that wild as well. I didnt get anyone else the whole tourney over 66 and that was a kid from friendswood. I clocked one lefty from galveston at 64-65. everyone else was 58-63.  The kid that threw 75 looks like he is 16 and plays MLB on the football team. He is just a freak athlete that will be playing college or pro ball somewhere if he stays out of trouble.

It's really not that big of a deal that everyone needs to get on here and prove their point and challenge and doubt each other.

The fact of the matter is:

Chase Shugart, BC, is steadily hitting the low 70's with his fastball with good control. I've seen this kid pitch for the last few years and he has gotten better and better.

Kameron Williams from HF is 6'3" tall - 220 lbs - and is athletic, not some big clumsy lug and was clocked in Houston last fall in the low 70's consistently with mid 70's hit when he didn't like the previous call. With Kam on the mound, the batter better be on his toes. He has been known to come a couple of feet inside.

These two pitched against each other in 11 yr old all stars last year. The big kid dislocated his knee in the 4th inning on a play at the plate with HF leading 1-0 on a home run by Kameron. BC ended up winning the game 2-1 after he left.

The fact of the matter is that both of these kids have been blessed with above average speed for 12 year olds. Now whether are not their parents burn them out or they develop other interests is another story. Instead of doubting what your reading, just come out and watch them play and you will see for yourself. If they both stick with it, 21-3A will have some fun battles in about 3 or 4 years.

  7. Is the big kid still injured?Unless I am mistaking, if a kid gets injured during the season and misses games it does not go against his eligiblity.I think the rule is that you have to play in 50% or 60% of the games that you are eligibile to play in.If you are injured you are not eligible to play in those games so it does not go against you.Did he play in any games this year or did he sit the whole year?

He played in four games and then he was injured. He still has not been released. He is scheduled to be released for the World Series in mid July. It would have been fun to see him throw against BC and Shugart again. Two kids bringing it in the mid 70's. That would have been fun to watch.

  8. A group of Hamshire and Fannett kids formed a select team and were told that if they played little league they would be kicked off their select team. The league quit playing major games on Saturdays to accomodate the select players and then the league was treated this way. Those kids, along with the ineligible big kid, definitely would have made this team formidable, perhaps even facilitating an early exit for the BC team. As it is now, FHWS will need to be on their A game to compete. FHWS played PNLL this year because they only had two teams, I believe.

If you remember, FHWS 11 year olds had BC on the ropes when the big kid first got injured. After he was taken to he hospital, BC came back and won the game. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, but that's another story. Good luck to all the teams and may they all play their best.

  9. FHWS 11 yr old beat pnll last yr 23 1 and they called off the dogs . FHWS  12 yr olds this yr should be pretty good  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

FHWS & NLL play tonight  @ 7 pm

About six of the kids off of that 11 yr old team did not play little league this year and another is ineligible because he didn't play enough games due to knee surgery. I am an FHWS parent and I will try to be at every game pulling for them, but it could be a struggle.

Bridge City should have little trouble winning our district. Remember a couple years ago when Nederland was going to march straight to Williamsport? BC is not unbeatable and they will need a few breaks and their kids will have to be on top of their game every night to get as far as they hope to. If they can do this, they have a chance to be very successful.

  10. Just curious what colleges had coaches in attendance.  I saw the following:

    Louisana Lafayette

    Lousiana College

    Cententary College

    Sterling College

    McNeese State

    Any others??

    I talked to these coaches, so I know they were there;

A&M Kingsville - Blake Miller was amazing. High energy and the girls he coached in the infield loved him.

    LSU Eunice

    Angelina

    Texas Southern

  11. BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! They can try to put this under the guise of what they want to. The truth of the matter is that this is a select group of extremely talented prima donna ball players that evidently weren't catered to the way they wanted. They didn't get everything the way they think they are entitled to so they are taking their talent and going home. Did anyone ever think that maybe this high school program was so successful because of what these girls learned and experienced with their travel ball coaches? Maybe what they learned carried over to their season and that is why they have been so successful. They say they are doing it to improve the high school program, I say poppycock. They got their scholarships and now they want a summer of laid back fun summer ball. What they need to do is get a bunch of girls that just want to have fun and leave the girls that want to further their softball careers alone. Thank goodness one of them has seen the light and realized what was going on before her summer was lost. Serious players thinking about joining this team need to beware. Your best interests are not being considered.

  12. Just to let everyone know, our pitcher who was going to leave has had a change of heart. After thinking it over for a couple of days, and reading the posts on this board, she and her family have come to realize that our team is the right place for her to be. I personally believe she has made a wise choice for her softball future.

  13. I do feel for you Birdman I didn't say it was right ,but these kids wanted to do this and others wanted to be apart of it . There is a special bond between some players that cannot be matched and that is were this all came about . I can promise you I had no part what so ever  :-\

When our player told us she was leaving, it wasn't because she wanted to. It was because she felt pressured to, for fear of being shunned. This was not a decision she felt confident nor excited about. I've heard the people who are starting this little team sit on the sidelines and make fun of the girls on our team, including the girl who is now being pressured to go play with them.  The fact of the matter is, she has aspirations of playing college ball and she is aware that this will hurt her chances. She has already asked if it is okay for her to come back when she is abandoned in a few months. This team is forming because the interests of certain girls were not thought to be put at the forefront, yet they are now doing this to all the younger girls they are recruiting. Everyone knows you don't get recruited from high school ball, you get recruited from your select team. So the idea of building up a high school program will only serve the selfish elitist attitudes of a precious few and in know way help the girls that really want to continue their careers into college.
