2.
Ok here goes from my screen name 99% of you from HF will know who I am! I'm not here to bash anyone or any school. All I'm asking is to give these boys your best! What does that mean how about no more negative talk. Vince Lombardi once said winning is contagious but so Is Losing! You really want to make a difference in some young men's lives then show up Friday at the first official tailgate party in North parking lot food and drinks available. Also, instead of showing Facing the Giants we will be showing games from 1950s til the present! Good old fashioned Longhorn football! So instead of sitting on here writing about it let's do something about it. I don't care where you have moved from your welcome anytime to me your now a longhorn. Tailgating starts at 5pm then at 6:30 we will be forming an old fashioned victory line. Remember a house is only as good as its foundation and we the community we are that foundation for this team let's get the cracks out!
Good post Randy, I guess your right we Native Longhorns need to step up and show the "NEWBIES" the meaning of HF Longhorn Spirit.
 3.
Let the man coach and do his job. We have alot of talent coming up lets see how it goes. We may never be able to compete against WOS and Silsbee but you never know. It is a game and you never can tell whats going to happen in a game with kids playing!!!! As for the parents out there tell your kid to play as hard as they can and never give up!!! As for all you transplants that have moved in get on board or go back to where you came from!!! My question to you is why did you choose to move in our area? Why didn't you stay in your hometown? GO HORNS!!!!!!!!
Man that's going "HARD TO THE PAINT", I agree with your statment though. Good Luck Horns  8) ;D
 4.
You guys predicting doom on a team after one game?
All I am saying is there is too much division in the ranks. Coach harris needs to right the ship and get this team on the same page. If I were Coach Harris I would sit all of the boys down and show them the movie "FACING THE GIANTS". This teams needs some unity and what better way to do that than to ask the Lord to bless this team for his Glory.
 5.
Maybe Splendora was a little better than HF expected. We will see in a couple of weeks. Someone told me the Wildcats won their last three games last year with a move in QB and couple nice sized lineman.
IMHO they were. The Splendora boys were a disciplined enthusiastic group with descent size & speed. I think our boys came in a to flat. I think they were over confident they would win the game, somebody forgot to tell them they had to play it first.
 6.
im an alumni of HF and i still attend alot of the sporting events there.  I came up when Tarver was the HEAD COACH and HEAD COACH HE WAS.  THere has been a culture change......and its due to most of the parents of these spoiled children.  PARENTS stop brown nosing with the coach, super, school board members, etc, etc.  Super, principal, school board members, parents......stay out of the coaches ear.  You hired the guy to do a job, he's gonna do the best he can with what he knows and has avaliable to him.  He didn't take the job to lose, he took the job to turn the program around and win.  all you parents think lil johnny is an all star......sorry but most of you are all wrong.....  your children are going to fail sometimes and get replaced sometimes.....let them.....its a life lesson.  in the real world you don't do your job you get fired and replaced or demoted.....its life....let it happen if you got beat out of a spot then you were good enough, so train harder and give more effort, be smarter and you can win your spot back. This stuff didn't happen near as much when Tarver was coaching....
Amen to that, that is what I am talking about. Allot of the kids that played under Danaher & Tarver, myself included did not necessarily like them sometimes, but we were taught by our parents to respect them. We as parents have to be realistic about our children and understand that even though we may think LIL Johnny is the best, that does not make it so. I think that is why the American that I knew is breaking down, to many kids not be being taught at home to be God fearing and respectful. I attended our Homecoming parade last year and one of the Fire Trucks drove by with some of the FB boys riding on it. In a show of school Spirit I yelled out to them "YOU BETTER WIN FRIDAY NIGHT" what I got in response still haunts me to this day. One of the boys grabbed his crotch and made a gesture that I am sure everyone knows. He did this in front of my wife and kids and If I could have got to him or identified him I probably would have hurt him. You would not have seen that type behavior from the generation I grew up with.
 7.
Personally, before Friday nights game against Splendora I had them at 3-7 by the end of the season. But with the loss against Splendora I think the Horns will have another upsetting 1-9 season in their future
Unfortunately If they do not come together as a team, your predictions could become reality.
 8. I believe my Horns will bounce back this week in our Home opener. HORNS - 21 ANAHUAC - 13
 9. I Got to amit I did not see this loss coming. The HF Offense did not play well at all as a team. IMHO, Splendora was a much improved team from last year. It was not that long ago that Splendora was the team to beat in that district. Granted Splendora made some mistakes as well and really could have blew out the Horns that night with all the turnovers & miscues HF had. I am not really sure where I stand as far as the QB issue. Part of me says give the Senior a chance because lets face it his offensive line did a horrible job and could not block anything. Then part of me says he does not seem to embrace the part of being the leader of the team and I think we can all agree his descision making under stress is not that good. Heck this is his 3rd year at QB and the game should have slowed down for him by now, our style of offense has not changed only the coach. He is too quick to hang his head and let things snowball when things are not going well, a 3 year starter should not do that. The team feeds off the QB's attitude and if they see him give up so will they. We need to give Coach Harris a chance, this is his first gig as a HFC. He is looking out for the future of the HF FB program and can tell that the Freshman has natural ability. Coach Harris was a QB Coach at Midland Lee prior taking the helm at HF. I think if anyone can develope a QB it would be him. I do think he needs to decide quickly who he is going to go with and stick with him. I do not think a 2 QB system will work in HS FB. Other Teams will be to quick to pick up on your tendancies. As for the HF defense I think they did a good job of staying motivated, being they were on the field most of the game. I will say this, they need to do a better job of tackling. There were quite a few big runs that should have been stopped for a loss or a minimal gain, too many arm tackles. Just because the Horns lost their first game to what many perceive was a sub par team does not mean the season is doomed. They just need to learn from this and get back to work and get motivated. As a Senior, If lettting a Freshman take your job does not motivate you then I am not sure anything will. I was disappointed in the overall lack of enthusiasm from the Players, Coaches, Student body, Administration and the fans in the stands for that matter. Like the previous poster said we need to re-instill a culture of winning at HF. HF has a proud past and winning tradition and we need to get back to that as a community. I hope everyone comes out fired up and ready to take it too Anahuac Friday night in our home opener. Good Luck Horns I am still in your corner.

They played 18 minutes a piece with a running clock. Central- QB didn't look good, but the option was hurting BH on the outside. entral better not ever rely on the pass because they couldn't throw very well. Central D was not very good and couldn't stop BH RB, who is a Junior. He's like bowling bowl and plowed over the Jags on almost every play he ran the ball. Not mpressed with Central. HF- I actually thought they looked decent. Not too bad on defense and had some decent speed. They may surprise some teams in that tough district. HF and Central both scored I think 1 TD when they scrimmaged each other. Central might have had a second one against them, but HF hung with Central. BH= IMO the offense when they got things going looke good, Strating out they fumbled a couple of times, but put together some good drives. The defense looked good and swarmed to the ball, but the option hurt them a little when Central ran it. The Central QB I think was scared to get hit because he pitching the bal way tooearly on the option. I thinkit was BH 1 score to Central 1 score. BH 1 score to HF 0 score. I left after BH and Central played each other so other things may have happened. Overall, I think BH will compete for one of the playoff spots.
thanks Tradinup :) like i said I showed up at about 8 PM :-\
Sorry for the spelling, I'm typing in the dark. ;D They said they were doing one more round when I left. I don't care for the 3 way scrimmage idea. Overall, BH did look the best. I thought HF looked better then Central. Central's bright spots were the big play potential and speed. They didn't execute that well though. In a real game, I think BH would smoke Central. It looked like Central was tired from all of their pre game chants and jumping up and down. ;D
True, didn't get to see HF against Central, but saw that HF couldn't do anything about BH. Centrals first possesion against BH it was my opinion of them came from. BH looked bad on D during that Drive, but the second possesion by Central they came alive and started doing very well.
HF drove down the field and scored on BH in the last series.
About a 20 yd scamper by Jordan Brown, on the very last play of the scrimmage I might add... 8)

 12. If the team that shows up that  I saw last week versus BH & Central, then the Horns take this rather easy: HF-40 Splendora-14 However if they play like they did two weeks ago against KV & DV then I am afraid this will be a closer game. HF-20 Splendora-7
 13. The Bobcats are never a team to take lightly, but I think my Bretheren from the South take this one. EC - 35 OF - 21 Good luck to both teams.
 14. The Horns are going to stampede the Wildcats  HF - 40 Splendora - 13
 15.
I just hope all three teams get throug with NO injuries. Can't wait to see the Blue and White in action!!
"dittos" on the injury part. HF was missing a few of their good players from Saturdays scrimmages due to injuries I believe.
 16.
From what I saw of Hamshire-Fannett last week against Deweyville and Kirbyville, they won't be bringing much. I look for both Barbers Hill and Central to have their way with the Horns.
I hear you, but I hope your wrong. I know HF can play better than they did so that is why I think they will bounce back and hopefully with a chip on their shoulder.
 17.
It is almost time, new season, new coach, new system every one over in D-ville that I talked to is pumped up and can not wait for the first Game. 8)       GO PIRATES               #10 The Man
Based on their performance against HF & KV in Saturday's scrimmage, I look for Dewyville to have a good season. Good Luck Pirates that is one salty defense you guys have.
 18.
I'm  not really sure about H-F either.
I think HF will bounce back this week, after a lack luster performance in thier first scrimmage.
 19.
Here are the stats for each first team offense. This scrimmage had a 12 minute running clock for each offense to run as many plays as they could get in. First 12 minute set: Hamshire-Fannett 1st Team offense vs. Deweyville 1st Team defense HF rushing  10/15 yards passing  1-6- 14 yards total      16 plays/ 29 yards FD            2 3 and outs    3 2nd 12 minute set Kirbyville 1st Team offense vs. Hamshire-Fannett 1st Team defense Kirby rushing        17/107 yards    TD passing        1-5- 5 yards total            22 plays/ 112 yards FD                  7 3 and outs        0 Kirbyville did reach the HF 11 yard line but failed to score on 4 consecutive plays. Turn over on downs. 3rd 12 minute set: Deweyville 1st Team offense vs. Kirbyville 1st Team defense Dewey rushing        13/63 yards    TD passing        0-2  0 yards total            15 plays/ 63 yards FD                    3 3 and outs        1 Deweyville went 5 plays and 65 yards scoring on a 38 yard run to start their offensive series. Kirbyville made a few adjustments and slowed down Deweyville the rest of the 12 minute set. I did not keep 2nd team stats. Each team ran their 2nd teams for a 10 minute set. Lightning sent the teams in after that, then I left. If I were to rank each teams offense and defense based on this scrimmage, it would go like this: Offense 1. Kirbyville 2. Deweyville 3. Hamshire-Fannett Defense 1. Deweyville 2. Kirbyville 3. Hamshire-Fannett For what I viewed today, the team that impressed me the most was Deweyville. Good offense and very good defense. Coach Babin and his staff are doing some very good things there. I expect Deweyville to have a good season. Team that disappointed me the most was Hamshire-Fannett. Their offense simply could not move the ball against Deweyville and their defense really never stopped Kirbyville. HF better step it up on both sides if they want to compete for that 3rd playoff spot in 21-3A. As for Kirbyville, offensively they looked okay but it was against a very weak HF defense. Hard to judge how good they really are. Little disappointed in the Wildcat defense giving up that big touchdown drive by Deweyville. Kirbyville did adjust and looked better after that. All three teams obviously need more work but I have to say, Deweyville was the most impressive.
I would have to concur, HF's 1st team did not impress, I thought we would have a shot this year. I just did not see the intensity or the desire to win like DV & KV brought to our home scrimmage, heck even the new Coaching Staff were not all that fired up. HF has got to get some size on the defensive line or we are going to get gashed against power running teams. If I had to choose I would say Dewyville's 1st Team Defense came away with the victory based on everall performance. DV has a really salty defense, the problem they are going to have is depth. As far 2nd Team goes I will have to go with HF on this one, the underclassmen really shined, they had 6 true Freshman competing in the Varsity scrimmage. HF's future looks bright.
 20. I do not think so, the correct schedule is posted in High School Football thread at the top where it gives all of the other High School Football schedules.
 21. It appears HF will be bringing back the Golden Domes this year. I for one am Glad to see them back.
 22. I am going with my HF Horns, I think this is their year. Good Lucks Horns
 23. I am going to go with my HF Horns. Even after a few down years and a revolving door at the AD/HFC position, I think they have the pieces in place to be a " DARK HORSE " in the running for a playoff spot.
 24. Afer the buttkicking HF took from Buna last year I can assure you HF will not take them likely. Buna has a ball control offense that will hammer out 4 and 5 yards at a time and wear down your defense. They have good size and descent speed, If teams get too many 3 & outs against their defense then the offense will make them pay.
 25. Man I sure hope so, our cummunity sure could use a good season to be boost overall school spirit. Good Luck Horns
