1.

Kendrick King was as good of a 8th grade QB/Athlete that I have seen in a LONG time!
I agree. One has to wonder if he will be a HF Longhorn or not. ;)
He ain't going anywhere. HF fans will not let that happen even if we have to kick in some Green Backs to keep him, why not everyone else does it Ha Ha LMAO.
2. Yes Sir you are correct, that is a talented group of Freshman, especially Kendrick. They are the only group I can recall in the last several years that have won back to back District Championships in their 7th & 8th grade years against the likes of WOS & Silsbee. I am curious to see if Kendrick and any of the other talented Freshman will get to see any varsity playing time. Good luck young Horns.
3. Yeah that is a mistake, Blake is only a Junior. Blake is the nephew of Fulton "Flip" Johnson, former Buffalo Bills receiver. He should have a good season with a year of Varsity under his belt. I think they should give him a look at Linebacker as that is where he has played on defense every year except last. I bet he will see some offense, he is pretty quick for a big boy, his legs are thick like tree trunks. Get ready 21-3A the HF Horns are going to be competitive this year.  8)
4. You could be right based on what everybody else has coming back, but then again you could be wrong. One thing is for sure they will have to play the games to decide it, we can talk all day about woulda, coulda, shoulda.  :-\
5. I expect good things from this group of young men this year as it will be an experienced Senior laden team. If the injury bug and grades do not plague them and they pickup what the new coaching staff is trying to do then this team could be a Dark Horse in the run for a 21-3A playoff spot. I have been waiting for this group to finally come together as a team. This group of young men have played well together over the last few years in Jr High and JV. I think we will take a few teams by surprise as they will be overlooking a good HF squad. IMHO, this is probably the most competitive team that HF has fielded in the past several years. Good Luck Horns, I hope you Seniors have a fun and rewarding season. I look forward to seeing you young men on the Gridiron.
6. Will they play a best of 3 Series or is it just a one game winner take all ?
7.
They had a guy that wanted it and would have stayed when it was down to Mangan and Stewart. They chose Mangan. Barbay would be a great hire, unless the Jasper opening has his interest.
I'm with you, if offered the Jasper job it is his for the taking. You know Jasper is going to try and go after him being he showed interest in HF. Heck why wouldn't he, closer to his hometown and a chance to compete and coach with the cailber of talent that the Jasper area offers. It could not come at worse time for HF, I think somebody like Barbay could really help our program as we have some talent in place next year with more coming in.
8. #6 Beasty Girl was not in good form that night, had she been things would have been much different for the Lady Horns. Good Luck next week.
9.
nm
The HF Lady Horns won this match 4 - 1 over the Lady Panthers. That #6 is a beast for the Lady Horns, keep up the good work !!!
10.
Hamshire Fannett PNG Lumberton
I am glad you posted as I know HF needs to be included in the conversation. We might loose football games but we look good doig it.
11. will the game tonight be moved to Hamshire ???
12.
C'mon people, its time to give super major props to this young man for his exploits on the football field. Major talent! The kid is quick, fast, strong, durable, etc, etc, whew-www! I haven't seen a team stop him. I sometimes measure talent from the growth from the previous season. He gets better each season. Last night I saw Kendrick fake,  reverse his field, juke, slash, and slither the HJ's defense. On one play, it seemed like they should have dropped a flag on HJ's defense because all 11 players missed Kendrick TWICE on ONE PLAY! You would have thought HJ had 22 players on the field 8)
I hear you DOVE I have been watching this young man myself and he is a great talent, I just hope HF can hold onto to him.
13. I know this is a little late, been busy. Got to give props to my JV Horns they lit up what I thought was good Kelly JV. Talk about fans, the HF JV Cheerleader's & parent's really support our team, props to all. HF JV - 33 Kelly JV - 6
14. HF finally get's the offense going to night and the "D" get a few fumbles, Horns get a much needed victory tonight in front of the Homecoming Crowd. HF - 29 Kelly - 28
15.
How did Darius Gray for Huffman, play? The kid got real natural talent and instinct for the game.
He looked to be a real solid player, quick and strong. Same old story for HF though, lack of execution on offense lead to to many 3 & outs. Smith & Co had a horrible night 8 of 23 for 84 yards passing. Half of the failed pass attempts were dropped balls with other half being  way over or under thrown. Sam Huff ran the ball pretty well in the first half, however Huffman made some good adjustments at half time and stuffed him in the second half. As for the defense, another poor showing as we could not stop anything. The defensive line seems to be our weak link as we have no size or power therefore we can not get any penetration into the back field. I hope things get better because the morale seems to be getting worse and we have not even started District play.
16.
Buna played a strong, physical game again tonight.  Mixing in some smashmouth power running with Williams and the speedy, cutting style of Birch.  Clark to Frasier is becoming a great combo as well.  Outstanding performance tonight on both sides of the ball Coogs.  The defense just kept shutting down the Horns all night long.  HF looks the same as always, great looking athletes, lots of speed, but they are always missing something.  The QB had a great arm, Huff ran and played hard, and Malveaux is huge, but way too many dropped passes for a team running a spread offense.  Keep it going next week Buna with Hemphill.  GO COUGARS!!!
You hit the nail on the head I could not have summed up the game any better. I thought Anahuac would be the team to beat in 2A but after seeing the beat down that HF took, I would have to say that Buna would be my favorite. Buna looks to be good for next year too as they had quite a few JR's & Soph's on the team. All I can say about HF is that at some point in time they have to start improving as they can't continue to play week end and week out like they have the last couple of years. Buna has a great team and I am not taking anything away from them, but HF is better than the 56-21 beat down. Somebody please Duct Tape the ball too #2 hands so he can hold onto the football, as a Soph last year I some what understood but as a Junior he needs to step up and hold onto the ball.  I apologize on behalf of HF nation to all of the Buna fans who had to travel to see what has to be one of the worst performances I have seen HF put out in a while. Good Luck to both teams next week.
17.
Different style of offense from Buna... Anahuac will be more speedy attack while Buna will have smash mouth run you over rushing attack
Anahuac does both and they can pass the ball pretty effectively. I am telling you the Panthers are the real deal, 2A better prepare for them, as they are going to make some noise. I can just imagine if they had their stud running back healthy, they would really be awesome.
18. I will have to stick with my 21-3A bretheren and go with BC BC: 35 Kelly: 28
19. Believe me when I tell you that Anahuac will win this one easily. Do not let the fact that Albritton is out fool you like I did. Anahuac has a very good and solid squad on both sides of the ball. In fact I predict a shut out as I do not see HJ scoring against the Panther's Anahuac: 35 HJ: 0
20. HF held a really good Panthers squad to 21, I say they do it again this week. With some much needed help from the offense I think HF bounces back in this one: HORNS: 27 COOGS: 21
21. Anahuac was as good as advertised, big, strong & fast. I have to hand it to the Panther's they have a really good offense & defense. Hats off to HF, they  did a better job in the 2nd half and made a game out of it. This game could have easily been a blow out had they not played better in the 2nd half.  We had a few good drives that could have turned into points had we executed some plays better. All and all I think HF gave a good showing against a really good Anuahac squad. If the Panthers stay healthy and eligible they should be the favorites to win their distict. By the way I will take my "CROW" in a Gumbo.  Good Luck to both squads this week.
22. HF's JV put up a solid performance against Anahuac. Great Job Horns !!! 8) HF - 26 Anahuac  - 0
