  1. I thought the High School was built in mid 70's

For whatever reason Nederland never/rarely passes bonds.  Pt Arthur, on the other hand, always does - of course nobody works over there so it's mostly federal $$

PNG always does - industry helps and PNG wants the best for students/staff

I've always been curious why SETX is so slow to pull the trigger on replacing Head Football Coaches.

I'm sure there are at least half a dozen Schools that know they are not bringing back their HFC and yet no action has been taken yet. I think informing a coach as early as possible  is a much more humane way to go about the process. Rather than waiting until jobs start to fill up.

Understand Vidor HC job is coming open

Not me.  I'm guessing 5-5 or 6-4.  His overall record was 95-64 (.596).  A little better than .500.  I was not a fan of student body right, student body left, 3-step passing game, and punting.  I like scores of 72-69 vs. 3-0.  I get it.  Some like offense, some like defense.

    Go Indians.  Peace.

took them to a State Final game.

I understand that Burnet made players, moms and dads mad over 19 years.  I feel confident that most felt intimidated by his size and demeanor --- and they should be - so after his reassignment everyone who felt wronged by him really became vocal.

BTW another coach had an even lower winning percentage at PNG.  Guy named Bum Phillips.

In today's game, the hit by Chris Gohlke on the LaMarque WR would be targeting and he would be ejected from the game.  I'm not taking a jab at Chris Gohlke.  My comment is more about how the game of football has changed in the past 19 years.  In 1999, that type of hit was not frowned upon.  DBs were coached to hammer WRs running seam routes. PN-G was penalized for the hit (15 yards for unnecessary roughness), but there was no doubt that the hit changed the game.  LaMarque WRs were looking for the hammer when running up the seams or running crossing routes. That hit today would be on You Tube and people across the globe would be screaming to shut down the Texas high school playoffs.

Dustin Long ran for his life much of the night inside the Astrodome, but he extended plays and hit PN-G WRs over the top and behind the deep zones all night long.  As I remember, the first two series were scripted by PN-G.  The Indians dinked and dunked with some quick and short passes.  Once LaMarque rolled up tight coverage, Dustin Long burned them over the top.  He was on fire that night throwing lasers inside the Dome.  The defense played lights out.  The LaMarque RB got his yards, but the Indians shut him down around the goal line.  22-6.

    Good memories.

    Go Indians.  Peace.

Makes you wonder how Burnet would have done with this group

IMO this is a make or break game for the BF era. If we lose he will be 2-8 against Nederland. Shug will play his last home game at the REZ, which will be the end of another ERA.. I think he give all he has, but unfortunately I just don't think it will be enough. Nederland will scheme to stop the run. And I think the DBs will be able to stop our WRs. The coaching edge goes straight to the dogs. BF tends to freeze up in these games, I have talked to several current and past players about what happens during this game, and they all say the same thing..... Nederland owns the edge on defense, and special teams, I think the offenses are both capable of putting up points. We do have the best athlete on the field, but we do not field the best team. I think Nederland is the most complete team in the district. We win if SHUG goes super beast mode and  we get a few turnovers. If its a tight game Nederland wins hands down... I hate to pick against us, but we are not real good on the defensive side of the ball and special teams. Monte will have a few wrinkles thrown in and defensively we will not adjust. Hopefully I'm eating my words Friday at around 10:30, but only time will tell.

Spot on and a honest assessment of the situation.

Additionally, Nederland always out coaches Faircloth.

PNG  with be starting the "Nederland game doesn't matter" song soon.

The same "doesn't matter game" that is reported on FOX, National TV - a few years ago and touted as the #1 rivalry in Texas

Hard time believing the PNG faithful put up with getting spanked by Nederland time and time and time again

No, I'm saying that the punishment needs to fit the crime. The coach made an honest mistake and violated a rule. The manner in which he violated it did not contribute to the outcome of the game. Therefore, the coach should be disciplined, but the game shouldn't be forfeited. Punish the coach, not the kids.

    What is an honest mistake?

How do you know Fairclothes intent?

How do you know this was the first time they used the illegal device?

How do you know it didn't contribute to the outcome of the game?

Ok, he is already taking a vacation, if you keep up the personal stuff you will join him.

This Cardinal Backer must be uneducated and was passed over by coaches/teachers when she was a kid.

Teachers do make between 30 and 45 per hour.  7:30 - 4:00 M-F 187 days a year with the best retirement and working conditions.

    R U jealous?

So there is a team missing its leading rusher, passer basically entire offense and a defense that's missing 2 starters in a secondary that's probably at best subpar with them. The running backs combine had a total of 12 carries for 10 yards last week according to panews, if png has any hope those special backs fans said yal had at the beginning of the year has to step up.

Unfortunately,  when your entire program revolves around 1 players stats  you (team) suffer

PNG should have had 2nd teamers at skill positions in games that were blowouts the last 3 years.

Instead of trying to showcase Johnson and Faircloth's stats, etc...

Just old school I guess,  it is a team everyone should have the opportunity to play, at least, in game we are way ahead in

Appears allot of the blame should go to the player with what I have read about the situation. Other players are defending the coaches in this.

Coach was wrong benching her for the season  Plus I wouldn't let my daughter play for her - especially with what I hear is going on.

Did I mention anything in my post(s) about majority black schools?  My post was something to the extent of all white schools struggling in east/southeast Texas and my post is a fact. Wonder if all the schools you mentioned put more kids in the FBS football ranks than the schools I mentioned?

I think the better anlage is the black athletes do go to FBS schools more than white kids - remember with mostly white coaches, ADs, administrators etc..

I may offend some folks, and for that I apologize, but in east/southeast Texas,  you’re not winning many games without some African Americans on the team.

You are right about black athletes in bbbasketballn and track.  Give you that.

You really see the difference in baseball, golf, etc.. cant think of a baseball team that is mostly black doing anything on the HS level?  Golf? tennis?  for sure.\

Generally speaking sports that require parental involvement early and a high level of intellect and lots of hours of practice white athletes dominate i.e. golf, tennis, gymnastics, etc...

    Not to offend anybody

That is hilarious - feel bad for those sons of possible big leaguers - can you imagine the BS they are hearing from their Dad

How many "big leaguers from BC have actually gone to MLB???????

This job should be for a young first time head coach gig one certain name is popping out.

Has BC ever hired an assistant before.  thinking back from Johnson Tarver Townsend Stump Dubois etc... never from within the system

Could anyone shed some light as to why Dubois left.  I surely hope is wasn't because of the drill team and band issues some have implied.

I really expected PNG to make deep runs in each of the last 2 seasons only to be eliminated in the 1st round. This PNG team has 9 college commits, not many teams can say that. May not see this much talent on the field at PNG for a long period of time. Several of these girls play on really good travel teams and win a lot. So I guess I expected the winning to carry over into high school and into the playoffs. It's not gonna get easier next year with the new district allignment. The easy district schedule is over for sure. Good luck next year.

can only be attributed to poor coaching.

Don't forget when you go west the talent pool increases greatly.  We see that in football as well.  Only really good sport year in and year out is basketball in this area.

We do have some great basketball teams.

Football in the 60s and 70s ruled -Lincoln, TJ, Hebert, PNG, etc...not the case anymore with the exception of WOS

This is the hidden content, please

Only cause they cant afford Police - example PNG, Ned, BC, etc... all use off duty cops.  PNG partners with the city for a 79%/21% cost split

I laughed my a$% off at the statement that no one will know who is armed.  There are no secrets you can bet your a$$ the ones armed will tell their wife then she'll tell her sister then she'll tell her husband, etc.......

I am sure all parents will feel relieved  to know they get 80 hours training - as opposed to 15 - 20 years in the field

ART. 2 . . . If a pitcher is replaced while his team is on defense, the substitute pitcher shall pitch to the batter then at bat, or any substitute for that batter, until such batter is put out or reaches first base, or until a third out has been made. To ensure that the requirements of this article be fulfilled, the umpire will deny any coach-defensive player conference that will violate the rule. If a pitcher is incapacitated or guilty of flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct, this rule is ignored. A player may be removed as pitcher and returned as pitcher only once per inning, provided the return as pitcher does not violate either the pitching, substitution or charged conference rule. If the pitcher, because of an injury or being incapacitated, is replaced as pitcher and the above rule is not satisfied, or if his replacement requires more warm-up throws than permitted in 6-2-2 exception, he cannot return to the game as a pitcher.

Article 2 of the handbook makes no reference to starter or reliever. IDK.

Yes I just googeled it - what is a charged conference rule?  Also, the doc I referenced noted something about the 1st batter either reaching 1st base or being called out????

    IDK
