With their backs to the wall, I knew Coach Brooks would get things lined out.

There has been a discrepancy of the reporting on this score. It was first reported widely that Center beat Rusk 14-7, but later reports had it Rusk winning 14-8. From other posts it appears this is the correct score. Either way, judging from the score it would appear that both teams will be equally tough for Jasper.

Will that give Jasper the tie breaker even if they lose to Center next week? They won't lose to Center. Center is "trash." Did not Rusk and Center play a pretty close game? If Center is "trash", where would that place Rusk? Center has played some competitive games. Jasper must take EVERY game seriously or someone will hand it to them.

Jasper was a "baseball" school long before it was a football school. And yes, it is now looking good for Jasper baseball again. By the way, Coach Mixon's father played on some of those great Jasper baseball teams back in the sixtys. And who knows what truly has happened to the Jasper program? Certainly, Gilmer, Carthage, Diboll, and Kirbyville are very good teams. That does not change Jasper fans expectations. They expect to win no matter who they play, just as they did almost EVERY year for twenty years under their last long tenure coach. Or like Newton has done under Barbay since almost forever. Or like Kirbyville is now doing under Alvarez. I certainly hope that Coach Brooks gets whatever it is straightened out. He has paid his dues and deserves to do well.

This summer I watched Jasper edge Brownwood in 7 on 7, then dominate Kirbyville, and then give Navasota a good run for their money. As far as skill players go, it is just hard for me to think that the talent to do better is not there. Now, I do understand that the coaches were not calling the plays. ??? ??? ;D

Maybe as the 3rd place team...if they can beat Rusk. Although it doesn't sound like they deserve to go anywhere but to the doghouse. I can't ever remember feeling so humiliated. What the ____ is going on down there? Jasper has a good team they were just out matched tonight...... really, really outmatched, and apparently out-coached as well. Congratulations Carthage, you are the real deal!

We have plenty fans capable of doing the job, and will do it for free. Seriously, I don't know beans about what has been going on, but I have heard of divisions among the coaching staff. Regardless how it tumbles out, the Dogs MUST get on the same page, or they will be toast.

I think it has nothing to do with "growing pains". It has to do with the knee joints somehow not lining up correctly and the resulting friction causing excess calcium deposits being laid down. Unfortunately, this process somehow exposes and/or inflames nerves in the knee. The fact that it has a name indicates there is nothing normal about it as for as "growing pains" are concerned. I was grown before I learned that I had a "disease", or a health condition. I used to hurt so badly I could hardly walk, let alone run. That is a serious problem for a junior high kid, especially when you have to run to get a good seat on the bus.

I doubt that rest will have much to do for it. It took me at least a year or two to mostly "grow" out of it, and it never totally goes away. But one can live with it, that is the good news. At least you know what it is. When I was a kid my dad just told me it was "growing pains".

Sometimes teams play to the level of the competition. Did Jasper play their starters all game? No, not all of them anyway. Not sure how much substitution was done but definitely there was some. But true, Jasper cannot play this way and hope to win against Carthage. Didn't work against Diboll, and it will not work against Carthage, and perhaps not against Center and Rusk. Jasper can play much better, and it is time for them to kick it into a higher gear.

Thank you for the info. The Jasper fans were incensed on this late call. There was no flag, Armstrong had scored. After what seemed like a short eternity, all of a sudden the ref came alive and flung the flag in the air way back from the play. I have only this to say to the refs, call the penalties when they happen. Don't wait to see if Jasper scored. No wonder the Jasper player reacted.

Is Armstrong a freshman? One of the announcers was raving last week about some freshman Jasper running back and I know Ellis is not a freshman. Armstrong is a sophomore and Ellis is a Senior Thanks. That rules him out. But that is still good for Jasper. Two more years of playing time! So, is Jasper playing a freshman, or perhaps it was a Silsbee defensive player?
