HJ HAS BEEN LUCKY. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE TALENT TO GO ALL THE WAY Matt, Seriously I hope you are joking!!!!! They did what everyone said that they could not do......beat Navasota, Cleveland, Hudson and then Jasper who beat your beloved Tigers. Will they win state??? Maybe, maybe not!!!! But to say that they have been lucky is being a sore loser on your part!!!! I did not see Navasota and Cleveland, but based on those teams' records I think without a doubt HJ had the toughest road to state, and they made it. Luck had nothing to do with it. I wish them the very best in Austin. I certainly would not bet any money against them.

Well, the end finally came for the Dogs. One game away from the state tournament! What a way to go out. Not bad for a team that was not supposed to make the playoffs. Congratulations Dogs. You played hard and with intensity to the very end. We are very proud of you!

i watched both games last night. this is pretty close to an even money game in my opinion. i won't think of the result as an upset no matter who wins. Kind of amusing. Jasper has been unranked all season, but during the season they have beat the following teams that were ranked for at least part of the season: Livingston out of 4a, Hudson, Huntington, Center, and Silsbee. Now they get another shot at a ranked team. It is a tough life when you are a Dog. >

I missed the six point jump. But of this I am pretty sure. I think it was Stubblefield who hit the three, and he definitely did not get credit for it on the scoreboard.

I think I was the ONLY one to pick Jasper. They are good Dogs! But definitely not the underdogs Yes, they are still the underdogs. HJ has the state ranking and the experience. I think for sure Silsbee took Jasper lightly and by the time Silsbee woke up to the fact that they were in a real game, it was too late. HJ has not, and will not make that mistake. It is going to be a small war (pun intended). nuff said.

Heck with the calls, it seemed to those of us sitting where we were that they were not even putting scores on the board. Early on, Silsbee had 4 points, made a two, and the scoreboard never changed. Then, later Jasper made a three, and the board did not change. Jasper coach appealed, but after a long discussion, didn't get the points. Were they THAT bad on the score-keeping, or did we miss something?

I think Jasper had a flat night last night. Bailey and Stubblefield were missing open three's that normally are gimmes for them. If a few more of those had fallen, it would have been a wide open game. By the way, anyone know what happened with the one three that Stubblefield did hit? It was a clear, no question net swish and the scoreboard did not change. The Jasper coach appealed, but they did not give Jasper the basket.

On a serious note, I think it showed just how athletic those little boys are. Honestly, I was amazed. Now the Dogs must get serious again. HJ will be tough.

Yes, a bit over the top. But this was without question the biggest basketball victory in Jasper's history. I was impressed at how many Dogs could do flips like that. When they quit playing basketball maybe they can become cheerleaders. ;D

We heard the same thing about Navasota so I wouldnt put to much stock in anything yet True. As Yogi said, it aint over til it's over.
