Jasper's J.H. Rowe High School. I have a ton of love for the schools that were rivals of the Bulldogs, too, like Lincoln and Hebert. Bringing this subject up is a great idea.

Ah, Rowe High School. In the early to mid sixties we loved to go watch them play football. You might not believe this; but they sure seemed to be a lot faster afoot than we were used to seeing!

    Can someone/anyone  help me please.

where to find any video of this game.. Even if it is just highlights or a recap. I  have tried (without one bit of success) to find anything.

    It will be VERY appreciated.

    TIA(thanks in advance)

    take care.

Can't help, but that game is engrained in my mind.  Three Jasper offensive plays; 21-0 Jasper lead!

I prefer it when only 2 teams went. I was ok with 3 with the district champ receiving a bye. Never been fond of 4 going to playoffs but it is what it is.

My main reason for not liking 4 is when 4 teams go out of a 4 or 5 team district. I think you should have at minimum 6 or more teams in a district if you are going to send 4. Or at least make the 4-5 team districts play each other twice for district play.

Also, I think all district champs in all classifications should host 1st round games. A little incentive to win a district title.

I like the three! In 2004, the one time Jasper made it to the State Finals, they finished third in the district.

kudos to  Jasper ISD for making an intelligent hire. WOCCISD should've outsourced the hiring of their coach to these guys. I'm excited for the Dawgs

Only time will tell. But some people have Snap; some people don't. If they don't have it; they will never have it. It's an intangible that you are born with; or not. My take is that Coach Crumedy was born with a lotta Snap; and we are all about to see it exhibited.  You can't teach what he obviously has!  I can hardly wait to see what he produces on the Jasper football field. I think you are lucky if you know four or five such people in a lifetime; I think Jasper is now blessed just as Carthage has been in the past several years with a homegrown coach.  Again, we will see. I think he said he grew up on Huff Creek road. Can't wait to meet him!

I agree with you. I wasn't in Jasper yet when Coach Walkoviak was hired, but he was really young (29) when he got the job and hadn't been in coaching long. He obviously did more there than anyone ever thought he would in 1977. Anyway, Coach Crumedy was going to get a shot somewhere eventually and I'm happy that he's coming home. This is great for everyone involved.

I was around when Walkoviak was hired.  In no time at all, it was clear to everyone that he was on a whole other level than most coaches.  Before his arrival, Jasper was content to contend for District once every five or so years when the talent would peak.  Walkoviak changed that mindset immediately to expect to contend EVERY year.  And Jasper did.  I am expecting no less from Crumedy.

Me too. He's ready to go right now! lol

I feel the best about this hire than I have any other, ever.  Hopefully on the Gene Walkoviak level.  He already has two state track championships on his record at Manvel if I read correctly.  Not to mention a good record in the Football playoffs. There is going to be some new excitement in Bulldog land!

When Darrell got the job, he had a winning record as a head coach.  His record was well above .500 at Hull-Daisetta and Anahuac.

And clearly a 500, actually I think that he brought a 600 record,  just doesn't cut it in Jasper.  Actually he did much better than I expected.  Also think that it could have been better.   Happy to see him find a landing spot.

off topic, for a minute.  I have said publicly that the Bronson bloodline/family tree has impacted not just  football but all sports in Jasper more than any other.

Yall know who his uncle is?

Everyone should know the name Zack Bronson.  Lead runner on the first high school 400 meter relay team to go under 40 seconds!

Terrence, in 2005 was hired by NASA as a  fitness specialist  for Johnson Space Center fitness & wellness program.

Remember when BIG John(Davis) caught the td pass to put the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl against the Raiders in 2002?

Didn't remember it; because I missed that!  Thanks for posting.  From where I sit, very few little schools (perhaps West Orange) have sent so many athletes to the NFL as Jasper.  Nor so many in the High School track record books.  Last time I looked Jasper still ranked in the top 10, all time, all classifications in Texas track in FIVE different running events.  And the third best time ever run in the USA in the 400m relay.  Not to mention sending TWO athletes to the 96 Olympic in Atlanta.  Jasper athletes have a lot to be proud of.

1991 my classmates. 2 future NFL players and a future OLYMPIAN were on that team.

Years after the fact I read that the other runner actually signed and lasted at least a year in the NFL but never got the attention the other two did.  They stayed much longer; 5 and 8 years.

I didn’t know that but I definitely believe it

Very true.  Three of those runners played in the NFL; and the anchor ran in the 96 Olympics in Atlanta.  I was lucky to see the race.  Beat out Dallas South Oak Cliff and a big Austin school.  Austin Reagan?  Second place was 40.2!
