Good win for Lumberton.  Tough losing the QB early with the knee injury but they were able to overcome it running a lot of wildcat packages with that load of a RB #23.  Passing game needs a lot of work as they will need to try to stretch the field to keep defenses honest.  Kirbyville had their safety’s 8-9 yards off the ball all night.  Lumberton capitalized on some turnovers which was good to see.  Defense played very well also.

Kirbyville is on the right track.  Very young team with talent.  Only 8 seniors on a team of 26 and a new system.  Their QB has a good arm and showed some poise at times.  They played hard and didn’t give up as I expected.  Coach Jones will have them competitive in district.  Playing this tough non-district schedule will help them.

This year and next year before things start getting better. Kirbyville's JV was just as bad as their varsity. Hopefully the kids will buy into his program and the people will have patience . No coach is going to change this program over night. Best of luck to you coach Jones.

Bless your heart, I'm going to break the down for you.
    1) I didn't shed a tear when making that statement. Didn't complain once! Offered you advice on being an adult and not a junior high female. Oh well.
    2) If you're so ballsy about it, just name names. You can take it up with her later.
    3) Glad to know you are officially taking polls up here in "Wallisville", I'm disappointed I didn't get a chance to participate.
    4) Maybe you should worry about those Hornets and get the sour taste of Kirbyvilles jock out of your mouth!

    Good luck to those Hornets!

    Sincerely,

Or maybe it is absolutely accurate. Maybe Jones Came in last year. Joined the staff as the JV coach and felt chided that he was not used as anything more than that. Maybe he felt like He should have been consulted more on the decisions that were made by Bennett. Maybe they made it all the way to the regional finals with very little input from Coach Jones at all. This causing a major rift between Bennett and Jones. Then this year after Jones gets hired as AD/HD FB coach he decides(along with some in the community) to put Bennett in his place if you will, by reassigning him and taking over because they didn't get along, and he believes he could have done a better job. Maybe just maybe it could have played out just like that, or maybe it didn't who knows? I have seen Coach Jones coach and there is no doubt he is a good one. One of the Best. I don't think him taking over is the issue. He will have the kids ready. The issue is Jones and the powers that be went about this the wrong way. Not that he or any of the concerned citizens of Kville care about that. But I do know that under Bennett's leadership Kirbyville went from a 3-24 record to one Game away from a State Championship in 6 years. The good ones are always going to piss a few people off along the way, Just ask Jones about his PG days, and as a coach you have to know when to move on. And it was probably that time for coach Bennett. That being said Bennett deserved a better exit. He earned a better exit than to be reassign in the middle of the season for no reason except some people did not like him or the way he ran his program. Good luck to you Coach Bennett you will land on your feet. And good luck Coach Jones and Wildcats go win it all Those Kids Deserve it.

Played football and baseball under Craig back in the mid 90's during his first tenure at Kville.  The man can flat out coach.  Period!  His resume in baseball speaks for itself as well.  Just research his career at PG and see for yourself.  An old school disciplinarian that loves the student athletes.  Could always get the best out of any player regardless of their talent level.  Many of my former teammates will tell you the same.  Heck, in 8th grade back in '94 he was our Jr High HC and had us running the spread.  At that time in small school especially he was way ahead of the game and it was tough for other teams to defend.  Extremely happy for Craig and wish him nothing but the best.  Will always hold the man in very high regard.  All I know is those boys better strap it on tight.  They're in for an awakening. lol

How is 8 years at DC at PG,, not football experience, .  The man wins at everything he does.  He is old school discipline and toughness which is what Kirbyville needed.  The baseball experience is just a bonus.  Trust me he was hired for what he can do in football and it will translate to all sports, even girls!  Kirbyville will be just fine now

The bad news is that Dr. Wallis is just over two months into what has to be at least a two year contract, and based on his resume I don't expect him to have been hired cheaply. My guess is that unless the ISD has $300-400k dollars lying around (which they don't), he's here for the long haul. You can absolutely fire him, but unless it's "for cause" the citizens of Kirbyville will still owe him the balance due to him.
The sad thing about the Wallis hire is that Kirbyville is almost certain to never land a super with his proven record of success at previous positions. People might hate him, but the schools made dramatic improvements in testing (which Kirbyville needs) and he can manage the business of the ISD like few others can. He's just a prick. I've got a good friend that knows Wallis from before and knows Kirbyville. We talked two months ago about how this was going to end badly.... I just didn't expect this badly or this soon.

I'll agree that it is a pity that this is the topic of discussion in Kirbyville when all they should be talking about are the accomplishments of Jeff Bennett and the Kirbyville baseball team, one of two baseball teams still playing.

I hope Mrs.Horn and the other incoming board members nip this in the bud.  What a terrible hire this was in the first place. Who hires a super with a gag order in place against his previous school district???

To Coach Bennett and the guys,
After all that has gone on in the last couple of weeks, nobody would have blamed you for folding up like a cheap tent.  But you guys managed to go farther than any other Kirbyville baseball team ever did.  Your community should be proud of you on so many levels.
    Great season, Wildcats.

Lefty99 reacted to WOSgrad in Kirbyville open Neece turns in resignation
As much as it might have all of us scratching our heads, to the person that really counts, Greg Neece, it makes perfect sense.  One of the perks of doing the football previews is the chance to interact with the coaches about their programs.  I can assure all of you that there are few coaches who professed as much pride in their program as Coach Neece.  But something changed.....we don't know what and as much as some think they have the timetable down, we don't know when.  Chances are good that we will never know.  But that change inside of Greg Neece brought him to realize that he could no longer give his all as the athletic director of Kirbyville ISD and as head coach of the Kirbyville High School football team.  Coming to that realization, he did the most compassionate thing that he could have done for the kids of the program....he stepped aside.
Of course, the move to a quarterback coach position at another school is quite curious. However, let's look at a couple of things.
Now what I am about to say is not is not intended to be a slight of the Kirbyville football program, or athletic program for that matter.  It is an excellent program with a very enthusiastic fan base (I am probably going to get a reminder of how enthusiastic pretty soon).  However, if you would canvass coaches outside of this area to take a look at the Kirbyville program and the Newton program, I wager that many more than we think would not view it as a backward move to leave the head coaching position at Kirbyville, an excellent program known well here in the area, to take an assistant's position at Newton, an excellent program that has some state wide prestige.
Even for those that do view it as a "backward" step, we can't assume that every coach will follow the same pattern of ambition.  What prompted Bob Westerberg last spring to leave Allen where he has reached what many would consider the pinnacle of coaching in Texas, multiple 6A Division I State Championships, for Barbers Hill, whose last state championship appearance was just over 40 years ago?  What prompted Larry Neumann, who told the Port Arthur News in September that loved coaching and that he had no intention of retiring, to, without a public word, file retirement papers with the Nederland ISD at the end of the year?  We think that we may have the windows into these coaches' hearts and souls, but we don't.
Coach Neece, while we will always wonder as to your reasons why, good luck in your new position in Newton.
