Newton will reload, could be better next year. If we stay healthy we will make a run at the state title. Injuries hurt us at the end of the year when we were peaking out. Offense should be as good or better and the defense should be a little better also. Had a JV team that was undeafeted and some size coming up with enough skill players coming back from the varsity to make next year a good one.

Newton's QB (Flannigan) had surgery on knee 12-09-08 and now faces 9 months of rehab.

Arp will put up a good game but not enough pass defense to keep up with k-ville. The team to watch in this bracket is Rice Cons. They have a running back that is very outstanding. I think K-ville will take them to but should be a good game. Go Cats, Go Mustangs, Go Eagles.

Don't sell Franklin short. They eliminated traditional playoff team such as Teague and Marlin. They are a running team that can control the clock . With rain and wind predicted this will favor Franklin and their power running game. Newton's defense will have to step up to win this one. Newton 27 Franklin 14

How about Monty Barrow from Nederland, He is the offensive coordinator and has been under Neumans system for several years. He is young and talanted. (not saying this just because he's my nephew)

I Heard Buna lost several kids to grades and the moral really went downhill, don't know if this is true or not.

I have seen CC play and they are a pretty good football team. They finished second in their district behind New Waverly. New Waverly beat CC 21-14. CC does not have the defense to stay on the field with K-Ville. K-Ville 49- 21 Go Cats------------all the way to state. Wish the game would have been Th. night so I could have went and supported them. Have to be at the Newton game with security. Good luck k-VILLE.

Looks like Kirbyville will play Corrigan Camden in Div. 1. Cor.Cam. will finish second in that district behind New Waverly. Newton will play Buffalo San Augustine will play New Waverly. I think some of the teams are checking out Lufkin Stadium for the location.

Don't sell Bridge City short, I predict they will have three (3) first downs.

I doubt that Carthage knew about the bonfire or location and had any part in burning it (not that they were accured of it), my guess is that Jasper had some kids and they burnt it down just for the meanest of it. I would bet that there will be talk around Jasper school about who did it..

Hemphill has a good punter. This will pin Newton deep into their own territory resulting in longer drives and thus keeping Newton from scoring as many points. Newton 48- Hemphill 6 in a close one.

Corrigan Camden is no push over. They will give K-Ville a good game. They will be the best team K-ville has played this year. K-ville will probably win if they don't get over confident and cocky like some of their fans.

Thought San Augustine would have been a better match than they showed last night. 39-7 with about 2 1/2 minutes to go in the half with Newton on the San Augustine 30 yard line and Newton nelt down on the ball to keep from running up the score. Newton played their second team the second half and their QB hurt his knee and did not suit up the second half. DISTRICT STANDINGS kIRBYVILLE 2-0 beat Shelbyville and Hemphill NEWTON 2-0 beat Woodville and San Augustine SHELBYVILLE 1-1 lost to Kirbyville and beat Woodville WOODVILLE 0-2 lost to Newton and Shelbyville HEMPHILL 0-2 lost to San Augustine and Kirbyville

22A - third place will be a toss up between Woodville, Hemphill Shelbyville and San Augustine. San Augustine beat Hemphill last week by 4 points. Hemphill led at half and San Augustine came back in the second half to win. Ist place, Kirbyville, 2nd place, Newton, 3rd place, San Augustine. As far as who is the strongest between 22A and 23A, Kirbyville is probably the best team in the state in 2A. Pity who draws them in bidistrict. However, I'm the guy who thought WO-S would wipe Silsbee out to.

LC-M will have about as many points as they have fans in the stand. Not very many....
