  1. So if there is a bad call by an official and that ends the game.  Once the official leaves the field and is attacked by a parent.  Is that assault or "heat of the moment"?

Depends on if the ref directly interacted with my kid in a manner I deemed inappropriate or if another parent feels the same about their child. All situations can be different. You can use hypotheticals all day long, but at the end of the day in my opinion it depends on the situation. I could give several accounts where the umpire or referees were less than cordial and they are not all saints. I guess that comes from being involved, paying attention to the game, and not just a one time occurrence, but multiple ones. Some folks that "just go to the game" and do not understand it see it differently and are the first ones to scream assault and put the refs on a pedestal as if they can do no wrong. Probably a liberal democrat as well!!

  2. ^again, not condoning just think that far greater injustices occur that go unpunished, this event just happen to be in the spotlight. As for the officials and not knowing the exact situation, I'm not so sure something didn't occur between himself and the sidelines, I've seen plenty of good officials and plenty of smug, arrogant, you're here for me not the kids, combative, types as well. Of course I'm also not 30 rows up in the reserve section and can hear some of the onfield exchanges. Example; if there would have been video / social media in 1985 when WO-S beat Sterling on a phantom Penetration call that the refs later admitted their fallacy, I can guarantee you if it weren't for certain level headed people the referees would have been assaulted. So the temptation is there, but in this case it was acted out in the heat of the battle, not assault. Again, playing devils advocate to not be so quick to judge til you're in that situation!!

  3. This wasn't a "heat of the moment" issue. That might be shoving another player that is in your face or yelling a profanity at an official after a call.

In this case the play had ended, another play was called and two players had to get together in what is basically a conspiracty to team up on the ref. I think people might be a bit more accepting of "a mistake" if it had actually been something that happened in the heat of a play.

This was a planned attack on a person that was hatched after the previous play was over and both teams got to go to their respective huddles. There simply was no heat of the moment issue.

The idea that others have done worse is trying to rationalize extreme bad behavior.

Apparently you've never played football cause the entire time your on the field in that particular event it is heat of the moment. Players get frustrated if they feel as though they're being cheated on every down believe me just come to a game of the team that plays on FM2100, seems as though that target has extended beyond the teams they play, but luckily they're well disciplined and properly coached. Again, not condoning just giving a different perspective since NO one else has!!

  4. Just to play devils advocate and not defending their actions cause like most of you I've seen a lot of football but never this kind of action towards an official. Remember, these are young kids that made a bad decision in the heat of the moment. Not knowing what instigated their actions one can only assume (u know what that means), if they were getting hosed on calls all night and the coaches were feed up with getting as one called it, cheated, then I can see where a young, impressionable mind might take matters into his or their own hands. Right, there is no place for what occurred, but in no way should this be a death sentence to the others. We are a Nation that believes in forgiveness so I say let them do the "time" ( some form of rehabilitation) for the act and move on. IMO it's not assault since it occurred with tensions running high. I'm sure some of you that are crucifying these kids have done way worse just didn't have a camera convenient!

  5. Mr. Toups returns to his mother land county!  Seen some AWE-some games at the old TJ Stadium.  Can't wait to video the GRHS Longhorns going 4-0.

If you want to watch the Longhorns in action, go to YouTube and search George Ranch Athletic Booster Club.  The Booster Club is posting all my videos.  They are talking about multiple Always Believe scholarships now, it is really a dream come true.  The kids have caught on to my Always Believe theme and it is taking root so quickly.  They are even putting #alwaysbelieve on their spirit shirts.

Back to football...  GRHS is just AMAZING.  The quarterback this year has a much better arm, but is not as quick as last years QB.  Darius Anderson didn't play last week, but the replacement backs, if you watch the videos, are also dynamite.  Looking forward to travelling to Jefferson County and getting some gumbo for a pre-game meal.

Miss all of you in deep SE Texas.  Fort Bend County is a land mine for HS Football, but the fan support isn't as fanatic as it is in Jefferson County.  Take a look at the "Old Coach" poll and count up the Fort Bend County schools.  Very well represented.

    Fearless prediction coming Thursday morning.

They have any Sonic's in FB County? Maybe GR can face off with Crosby and get some baseball revenge for that beat down eh??

  6. ?? Not quite following so let me break it down ?? I chose Sterling to win and to win 6A state title to put on the marquee sign at Stallworth stadium in the Northwest corner next to Lee high schools 1950's State title. They're undefeated and the school is way overdue to return to the glory days of the mid 80's / early 70's. Sterling is a great example of how high school programs don't have tradition per say more like windows. So bottomline I'm a Ranger supporter so I'm kinda confused on the wall comment.

    Go Crosby!!

    Go Blue!!

  7. Ok if were finished with the crap talk to each other . lets discuss football,    Crosby is not over rated, the only thing that will hurt Crosby is Crosby ( too many penalties), and injuries.   That was the most athletic team I have seen in years, even without their RBs.   Do see room for improvement on play calling and execution of plays, athletic ability is there.   Every team has room to improve.  There were some questionable calls, but BH had a couple as well, just excuses,. last week how many did Crosby have?  When they play a tough team they cannot have penalties,   I was impressed, the kids are huge and fast and can play, again like all teams I see room for improvement, but not over rated. , BH played hard 1st half, threw the ball a little, moved the ball well 1st half, 2nd half had 6 turnovers, kept Defenses back against the wall.  Defense is pretty young but played better as game went on, was impressed by their play as well in the 2nd half, even if Crosby pulled starters, they have depth and BHs defense I thought showed some promise for the next couple of years, need to teach kids how to play the secondary vs the pass, cannot wait until the ball is caught to react,   Offense hit a wall in 2nd half, so predictable, nothing to fall back on when trailing, plus fumbles and ints, did show me that they may have played over their heads in first half.   Crosby is fun to watch, the line was massive,by looking at the roster, they have 8-10 kids that could be going to the next level, not all D1 but a few were and both D1 RBs not playing,   BH is not a real athletic team, they are over all small , I think we do not have a solid strength program, they run a ton, but lifting and lifting the correct way makes a huge difference,   I think BH will battle for 3rd and 4th the next couple of seasons,    Bottom line is 6 turnovers will not get it done vs anyone you play,  BH did what I thought they would do, came out with heart and hung around with the #2 team in the state, they hung with them, never did i see them  as a threat, again thought the future looks decent.   Good luck to Crosby on a long playoff run, stay healthy and always look for ways to improve,   BH keep your heads up, played a dang good team, you showed toughness and heart and with hard work the future looks to be a very competitive one.

Finally, after all these years of hearing ex BH LB's or off the bench players from the 70's and 80's spout off and not give credit where credit is due, we have a level headed Hill poster. Nice post my man, nice post. Good luck to y'all the rest of the season and I can't wait to see how Dayton many points y'all put up against that leaking Dayton Def. time to extract some revenge this week On your neighbors so Crosby and NC can nail the playoff coffin shut!!

    Go Crosby!! and BH!!

  8. Let me start this off by giving my honest prediction of how this game ends-    27-19 Crosby

    Humble Overview:

We have definitely improved on offense as a whole.  Defensively we show flashes of last year, but we lack experience that is hopefully worked all out by this game.  The first two games were essentially scrimmages as far as I am concerned, because the two teams we did scrimmage did not provide a sufficient measuring stick or practice.   Those two teams were Wheatley, and Caney Creek.  Im sure that when we began scrimmaging them 4 years ago, that it was the right thing to do given how far our program had fallen do to the full effects of a school split.  However I think we have outgrown that stage.   We essentially came out for Reagan under prepared mentally to compete with that level of competition.  No offense to either Wheatley or CaneyCreek, but they are no where near the level of Humble and all they did was buy us some false confidence.

ALL that being said, I fully expect us to compete for a playoff spot this year.   We should only keep getting better as the season continues, and these kids are hungry.   We enter this game 2-1, and Im confident that had we not made so many small errors in the first game...we'd be 3-0.   However, Crosby is for the most part finely tuned...we aren't.   I expect a close contest, but i have no illusion of victory.   Id put our odds of winning at 40% and if we won, it probably be by less than 3.

    Humble Offense:

The scheme hasn't changed, however the players to run it have.   Last year we had two QB's that reallly shouldn't have been playing the position at all,but you have to have QB's. This year we have two QB's, both capable of leading this team.   As of right now we split time between two qb's, probably about 60-40.   #2 QB Marion McIntosh (Sr)  and Freshman (yes Freshman) #1 QB Terrence Gipson.   I would love to see the Freshman get all if not most of all the snaps.  I am HIGHLY impressed with this kid.   This is not someone they through in because they lacked depth, this kid is special.  His stats won't wow you, but his play thus far has left me very impressed.   The starter  is Marion Macintosh(#2), and they both seem okay with sharing the job.

Here is some highlights of the freshman QB Terrence Gipson:

RB-  #3 Terio Brown has been somewhat quiet until this last game.  He missed half of the first game, and was pretty absent outside of a long run during the tompkins game.   He showed up in the second half of the K-Park game.  Previously it appeared he wasn't as quick in space or as fast... I was wrong.  Kid apparently can turn it on and off, im hoping he keeps it on.   We have 2 other very capable backs as well.   #29 Timothy Brown is a work horse, and I hope he see's more snaps.

WR-  Improved over last year.  However we are on the the short side.   Reagan had some tall athletic DB's and they gave us some trouble, however Im not sure we will run into a team as tall and heavy as Reagan again this year.

OL-  Vastly improved over last year.  Have two big towers at Tackle, a little slow but they have gotten better with each game.  #70 is 6'6 280 and #71 is 6'3ish 310.  interior is light, but they do a decent job.

    Humble's Defense:

We have gotten better each week, and that is a good sign.  I can see the sort of play that we exhibited last year returning, and It something we will need in order to stay competitive.  Our offense is so young, and is guided by two QB's that take some risks... the ability to take a fumble to a TD or an INT to a TD is an essential skill, I believe this unit posses it.   Athletic, fast, but not very tall.
Our pass defense needs work, busted plays happen far too often.  Against Crosby, that will kill us.

I wont give you a breakdown per unit on Defense, simply because it is pretty close to what we had last year.  Not 100% but i think we will get there.

Key players: #40 Vincent Rodgers DE, #57 Lawler Jones DT, #33 Isaiah Longino DE/LB , #44 Langston Tunson LB, and #9 Blake George. FS

Incase i don't get a chance to talk for a couple games,  I wish both teams health and that everything is left on the field for both teams.  Nothing better than watching those kids lay everything out, and making their respective communties proud of their effort...regardless of the outcome.  Of Course...Go Cats!

Great post and thanks for the insight. I coached two of Humble's standout Srs. In peewee from last years team and they too mentioned to watch out for this years squad. Terio is a playmaker and the defense should be steady. I banked on you guys making the playoffs literally so I hope you come through, just not this week. Facing Crosby, like it does any team, only prepares you for a nice playoff run. Hope for an injury free game!!

    Go Crosby!!

  9. In a win its not an excuse, course this year Dayton will have plenty of excuses not so many wins. Hahaha oh but their defense has improved right. What's their avg per game now?? Bigger problems than that, who's QB or should be?? Where's Stew when u need him?? Turmoil in Liberty County eh?? Can't lose many more meaningful games huh!! 19 seasons on the line, uh oh!!

    Go Crosby!!

    Go Crosby!!

  10. Turnabout is fair play, I'll say it again, you reap what you sow. So if the shoe fits wear it, u know who u are. It's funny how when ur programs down y'all look for anything to whine about other than what's wrong at home. So go ahead and chastise, name call, etc... Crosby folks are use to it so I'll leave it at that for all I have to go on now is undeafted an #2 in Texas!!  Nuff said!!

    Go Crosby!!
