  1. I expect a low scoring game, either 2-1 or 3-2. Both teams can pitch lights out.
  2. HF is staring down some of the best pitching in the area in the next few days with Sparks and Ayers of WOS, then Angelle and Haymond and crew Friday. Runs will come very difficult, so defense will tell the difference.
  3. The hands are part of a person's body. If a pitch hits the batter's hands the ball is dead; if he swung at the pitch, a strike is called (NOT a foul). If he was avoiding the pitch, he is awarded first base. Rules: 2.00 PERSON, TOUCH, STRIKE (e) and 6.05(f The batter's box is not a safety zone. A batter could be called out for interference if the umpire judges that interference could or should have been avoided. The batter is protected while in the box for a short period of time. After he has had time to react to the play he could be called for interference if he does not move out of the box and interferes with a play. Many people believe the batter's box is a safety zone for the batter. It is not. The batter MAY be called out for interference although he is within the box. The key words, impede, hinder, confuse or obstruct apply to this situation. An umpire must use good judgment. The batter cannot be expected to disappear. If he has a chance to avoid interference after he has had time to react to the situation and does not, he is guilty. If he just swung at a pitch, or had to duck a pitch and is off-balance, he can't reasonably be expected to then immediately avoid a play at the plate. However, after some time passes, if a play develops at the plate, the batter must get out of the box and avoid interference. The batter should always be called out when he makes contact and is outside the box. Rules: 2.00 INTERFERENCE, 6.06© Official Baseball Rules.
  4. I would bet Woodville or Kelly would jump on this, they play everyone.
  5. Games Called Prior to Five Innings Being Completed In district and nondistrict games if a game is called before completion of the number of innings and conditions as specified in Article 4 of the National Federation Baseball Rule Book, the umpire shall declare the contest “no gameâ€. Unless otherwise specified the district minutes prior to the season, the game will be replayed from the start. [Hidden Content]

  8. Thanks for prayers. Little groggy today, but will be back.
  9. It's going to be a good one. WOS has 2 very good pitchers in Sparks and Ayers. They are playing at home. You would think it's time for HF to have a bad outing. They have won 16 out of 17. Many say who have they played, but looking at their record they beat Jasper (but Alvis wasn't at full strength), LCM (Elhert didn't pitch), Huffman (Bagley is hurt), Woodville (Riley pitched earlier game). Then, besides their catcher Abe Barrera, they have no one mentioned on the 1st, 2nd or soph's to watch all-area pre-season team. WOS will be favored but HF finds a way to pull it out 2-1.
  10. Both Stringer and Meeks are very good. When you have 2 Sr pitchers like Angelle and Haymon that have already signed Div 1 and you have only 2 games per week for the rest of the regular season it's mop up time for both. It will be different story once playoff comes, especially in 3 game series. So it's pretty important to give these guys a shot when ever possible because they will be needed down the stretch.
  11. Should be close competetive game with HJ coming out on top.
  12. Taylor Eaves of Hamshire-Fannett starts at 2nd base as a Freshman. Zach Peevy of Orangefield can play and will be a good one.
  13. Bridge City has outscored their opponents in the last 2 games 24-0. The pitching staff has given up 2 hits and have struck out 22 of the 30 recorded outs..
  14. HF...100-402-1...8-12-3 OF...101-000-1...3-5-3 WP Michael Lange LP Zach Peevy 2B:HF;Taylor Eaves OF; Zach Peevy HF's Spencer Cuniff 3-4 HF gets a clutch 2 rbi hit from ss Wes Underwood to open the gap in 4th. Cuniff k's 6 in 2 innings of relief. OF's freshman Peevy is a player, nice future for him.
  15. I don't see that as a dig on LCM's program, just kudo's to Coach Griff for the work today and the past for his kids getting a shot at the next level. Really all a kid wants after high school is a jersey, the rest will come.
  16. We have many pitchers that can play at the next level as a few have already signed. Who's got the tools to use the glove and bat?
  17. If Sparks is in your top 5, who's the other 4 ?
  18. Sparks is one the better pitchers in the area. No disrepect to WOS but just think what his numbers would be if he threw with a cushion once in awhile. Angelle Elhert and Harwood are the top tier in the area, Eric is real close.
  19. I really doubt this home plate umpire will submit this to Austin, as after they view the video they might forget about Cody and pull his card.
  20. Your right Raider, they beat Ozen. Can't see PNG going 1-3.
