  1. So Elhert looked good in his uniform, or did he pitch?
  2. The game had playoff atmosphere. The game was dominated by pitching on both sides. Alvis impressed me from the previous time I seen him at the LCM tourney. He's FB was crisp and had a nice slider tonight that handcuffed BC. Besides Hecker and Angelle's doubles not a lot balls hit hard. Angelle was Angelle, plenty of K's and devasting curve ball. He's got 4-5 mph on Alvis. I was shocked on the free pass to Alvis. The first one in the 5th maybe, 1st base open lefty on deck. But, how can you walk a guy with 1st base occupied, up 3-1? Can someone explain that to me?
  3. This is really hard to call. Don't know much about Huffman but to see them put 16 on Hardin-Jefferson who really played decent baseball in the LCM tourney was somewhat of a surprise. This will definetly be HF's toughest test since the LCM tourney.
  4. No upset when Eric Sparks of WOS is on the hill. Besides the shutout he's tossing , he took time out to club a 3 run homer.
  5. Hamshire-Fannett 8 Shepherd 1 WP Matt Sanchez HR (HF) Randall Courville 3B- Joey Johnson 2B-Travis Moore (2), Spencer Cuniff
  6. You might be right, Bear. Looking at the schedule Bridge City does open up with district Tuesday with Orangefield. With Jasper, Alvis might pitch since they start district on the 28th. No matter who pitches this should be a nice game.
  7. Seen him throw a couple weeks ago and he was very impressive. He stayed on the black.
  8. Maybe we can get a few post from the baseball crowd on Friday's big game against a couple of state ranked teams. If Alvis and Angelle throw this Friday this could be a sneek preview of playoff action.
  9. Your right Bears, the way LCM is swinging the bat right now it might not matter who else throws against them. Couple of surprises in the 1st district games. PNG cannot depend on striking out 14 and scratching only 2 runs. Ozen looks like they can compete, with a few more players stepping up, look out. Nederland bats kind of went cold with a 7-0 victory over Central. This Friday should give us a look on how the district will shape up as LCM and PNG will tangle.
  10. I watched the highlights on 12 and it looked liked Harwood on the mound. I guess that means Powell would toe it up against LCM if Harwood went any distance.
  11. Bears What, no respect for PNG this Friday? I see Griff threw Elhert tonight or was this just a bullpen and he will be ready for Friday?
  12. This was a great ballgame. It was game of who would make the most costly error and at the end Kingwood came thru. WB in my opinion deserve to win as they really hit Kingwood's pitching. The Fergurson kid from WB had 3 hits I believe. Serna pitched well, thought he was pulled to early but the 2nd pitcher held Kingwood in check. It's early in district but both teams will have to shore up the defense as 7 errors are too many at this level.
  13. Hamshire Fannett 5 Kelly 1 WP Eric Neal LP Charley Jones 2B-(HF)Abe Barrera 3 rbi's 3B-(HF) Eric Neal HR-(Kelly) Darren Truax
  14. Cleveland 17 Bridge City 6 bottom 4 Dishon 3 run homer
  15. I verified thru 2 sources, it's true. Maybe Dishon can run a couple punts back and Hecker with a FG might bring them back.
  16. Game 2 update Cleveland 15 Bridge City 0 Bottom of 1st
  17. Brock Lemire(Nederland) is having a good year. Also, Derek Tilley (LCM) is batting .351 and Matt Phillips (Kountze) is leading Tyler in era with a 2.81.
  18. Game 1 of Doubleheader Bridge City 14 Cleveland 2 WP Rory Scales
  19. Hamshire-Fannett's Matt Sanches faced the minimum in a no hitter against East Chambers. HF's Eric Neal (11-16 .687; 8R, 4 SB, 3 2B, 1 3B) (9.1 IP, 5H, 0 R, 0 ER, 15 K, 3BB) HF's Spencer Cuniff (8-15 .533; 7R, 2 2B, 7 RBI) (9 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 8 K, 1BB opponents- Liberty, Dayton, Baytown Christian, East Chambers Bridge City's Kevin Angelle had 2 HR's, 6 rbi's and faced 18 batters which 15 of them K'd in the game he pitched. opponents-Kelly, Kirybville, Ozen, Central LCM's Clayton Ehlert 13-17 at plate with a Grandslam opponents- OF, WOS, Silsbee, Jasper, Livingston WB's -David Murphy 8/16 .500 4 R, 6 RBI (2 x 2B, HR [GS]) opponents-Laredo LBJ ,Victoria St. Joesph ,Victoria Memorial ,Edinburg Jasper's Will Alvis- high average, a homerun, and struck out 15 against WO-S last night going 7 innings and allowing 1 opponents-OF, WOS, Silsbee, LCM, Livingston
  20. Westbrook has really been hammering the ball, those are some gaudy stats. From the reports from the Jasper tourney, Elhert is on fire. It helps with the other guys are stepping up around him. Are the opposing teams watching the same games during these tournaments? Do we not once in awhile maybe pitch around a hot player? BC really hit this weekend, actually going long ball quite a few times. Hope we can get a report from them. Hamshire-Fannett spread the hitting out this week, the pitching staff gave up 2 runs in 4 games. One stat I thought was intersting was HF gave up their 1st extra base hit besides the longball in their 10 games.
