  1. Today Coach Buff and his wife brought a new 6 pound 14 oz baby girl into the world. Brityn Nicole Buffamonte was born this afternoon. We wish their family well.
  2. I would like to add one thing. I am very close to the Buffamonte family, and Coach Buff did a very unselfish thing. He decided that his family was more important than coaching a baseball team. Is there more that happened than he is probably wanting to tell everyone. I know he loved those kids, and it hurt him that he had to choose the game he has known since he was 2. Fact is, he has a sick father he is taking care of, and a pregnant wife that is about to have his first child. He had enough respect for Lumberton and the baseball program to let the Athletic Director know EARLY, so as he might choose the BEST available coach there is. Knowing Coach Buff, he will be back coaching baseball soon, it just won't be next year. So for everyone on here knocking Coach Buff, Please stop, because he is a great coach, and will do whatever it takes to make a program successful. Maybe certain people need to wakeup look in the mirror, and realize that they may be the problem and not the coach. I am sure the younger kids will look to him for problems should they have some in the future, what I hear is that he will still be at Lumberton, just not coaching.
  3. Let's see that makes two good coaches Coach Brevell and Coach Buff that has decided not to coach baseball anymore at Lumberton. I have witnessed a few Lumberton games, and I have to say I can see why they decided this. The fans at Lumberton the worst I have ever seen. They are very disrespectful. I wish Coach Buff the best, and I know he will enjoy raising his daughter. I hope the school's administration sees this and changes something or they will continue to lose good coaches.
  4. I am confused. I go to most of the Lumberton games, and wasn't the 2nd basemen (Lemare Sp?) the starter all year? Also, if you were one of the ones that came to practice everyday and worked hard, wouldn't you want this type of coach. To punish kids that missed practice? I know Coach Buff very well, and believe me it takes one heck of a guy to stand up to some of the things the parents said and did. I even heard (from another source) that a parent held up a sign A PARENT that said something I can't repeat on this board. From what I hear there are 7-8 parents who are causing the problems. I personally have talked to 10 + and they really talked about wanting Coach B to stay. It is about time we have someone here that stands up to these parents who have NO discipline.
  5. I don't think it was the Coach at all. I mean last year they finished 9-18 and had much better talent than this year. He took care of business, and in my opinion cleaned up a pretty much horrible program. He started some young (but talented) ball players this year, and I look for them to be pretty good in the next couple of years. Lumberton needed Coach B's discipline. Mark my words, we will be good sooner than you think.
  6. Cody Hussey (SOPH) should be strong consideration for newcomer of year batting over .400 with 1 HR and around 30 RBI's Stephen McDonough (SOPH) is also batting in the .360 range with 1 HR and some RBI's as well. Darby Chilek is probably the only one who has a strong consideration for 1st team all-district. He is hitting around .435 with a couple of HR's. and around 21 stolen bases.
  7. You really can't base how good you are going to be based on your J.V. I mean yes, it is an indicator, however you have to look at other teams and how many people are coming back. For instance take a look at the Raiders they start a soph at 3B, SS, 1B, and Catcher. They also start a freshmen at 2B, and their DH is a soph. Their J.V. is playing everyone close, except for the meltdown at LCM, and their Freshmen are winning as well. Does that mean they are going to be good in the next few years? Not neccesarily. They still need to work harder than everyone else in the district to succeed. There is a reason LCM, Nederland, and PNG are always on top, and that is because they are constantly working to improve themselves. While other schools take success on their underlevels as a sign that they are going to be the next district champs. Just thought I would put in my two cents.

  9. Was in the hospital. Don't want to give out too much personal info. Trust me knowing him, I am sure he was in contact with the coaches.
  10. Stephen McDonough--.383 BA 21 Rbi's 1 Hr Cody Hussey---.435 BA 26 Rbi's 1 hr These are two sensational soph's that are having a great year for the Raiders.
  11. Thank you VP..His name is Darby Chilek and he has been doing this all year. He ran down one (while he was playing LCM in CF) that I couldn't believe anyone would ever get to. He is also hitting .383 on the year. I know this isn't the thread for it, but your SS is one of the better ones I have seen.
  12. Future looks bright for the Raiders as well. Coach Buffamonte started 5 soph's and one freshmen tonight. Vidor has a great team with a very good shortstop. I look forward to great years from both teams. Congrats to the Raiders big win tonight.
  13. Rowell in my opinion is the best catcher in the area, and I have seen everyone mentioned above. He does have a cannon for an arm, however his release is a little slow. The kid hits the ball well, and hits it where it is pitched. I see him landing a DI maybe even a top-tiered JUCO program next year. Buchannon is a great leader, however I still think at times he has trouble hitting the off-speed pitch. Is this kid getting any offers from college??
  14. Rumor is Coach Buffamonte is bringing up a lot of his young talent for the rest of the season. Although not the best athletes, these kids can really play. I see a close game, but a high scoring one. Raiders 8 Vidor 5
  15. Keko McGalin's arm is healthy again as he pitches tonight. I don't see many runs being scored, but I am going with Lumberton 5-Ozen 3.
